Hello everyone. I just need some information on going to the hclf vegan diet. I have a few questions regarding my health :)

I'm 16 - I'm 144 lbs and 6"1. I'm a vegetarian and I get all my vities and minerals :) (no supplements)

I've been vegetarian for a year and half.
I really want to do this diet to see how it is and experiment.

Te questions I have -
I run a little over 4 miles almost everyday In 26 minutes. Is this enough to keep all the sugar down low and not make me bloaty and fat? I know people who do the 30 bananas a day ( which I'm interested in) run like 200 miles a week. I don't have time for that, as I go to school and will soon enough be working.

-how should i do the 30bad? Eating 10 morning 10 afternoon and 10 at night? Also-during the week I run at 4:30pm And weekends I run 8am. Should I eat bananas before my
Run or after during weekends?

-b12? I was thinking about not being completely raw fruitarian and drinking a glass of almond dream for some b12 a day.

-is it just bananas and oranges? I see people on this 30bad diet just eating bananas and oranges. Can I eat (the only fruits I enjoy) raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, watermelon, grapes, grapefruit, and strawberries?

- is it ok for me to enjoy frozen produce? I don't have the accessibility at the moment of going to the store more than once a week (that will change once I work at shoprite startin Tuesday)
I enjoy frozen berries and fruits- indont heat them up, I eat them frozen. Is this ok?

-veggies - I only like some veggies raw - broccoli, carrots, spinach. The rest (peas, string beans, cauliflower,) i eat frozen and cooked SLIGHTLY in water. (heat water, dump in veggies and strain-doesn't even boil {water})

-how should I do this during school? 10 bananas in morning? Lunch? And then dinner?

-will this diet make me tummy fat or anything? And indont own the 811 diet book, but I'll order it soon.

Thanks! If I have any more questions I'll post.

l wouldn't make a habit of using frozen produce, definitely keep it minimal. When you freeze things nutrients like molybdenum can become unabsorbable, it could affect other nutrients too. Now this might not apply to humans, but it has certainly been shown to apply to livestock. The point is, freezing food can cause problems and it's not worth taking the long term risk relying on frozen food as a major part of the diet.

How do we know that frozen food causes problems in living creatures? From vague memory (something l read over 15 years ago) there was a farmer/vet fellow who was wondering why his cows were getting various symptoms of ill health during the winter but seemed o.k during the warmer months. During winter the grass would freeze over and the cows developed a molybdenum deficiency, but during the warmer months the cows never had this deficiency. Take from this example what you will, but maybe there is a message in this.

Maybe it's worth doing some internet research on this, and maybe l should do some research on this too so l know for sure.

Good luck with the diet, l really hope you have done your research well. Not everyone fares well on such a diet, so be careful and listen to what your body is telling you.

Hey, I'm 16, 5'6 and also around 145 lbs.
I was also wanting to start the 80/10/10 diet tomorrow to hopefully lose some weight and get in better shape. :P
I've read alot of books about raw veganism, and watched alot of videos about the LFRV diet, and I think the most important thing is to eat lots and lots of fruit (of course), and I'd recommend you watch Freelea's videos on YouTube, they're really helpful. Freelea talks about how she's starved herself in the past, and has overcome many diet/weight issues by using the diet. She also says she has initially gained weight on the diet, only a very small amount, but it helped her body achieve that perfect balance that is needed to lose weight. After she acheieved "balance", she lost tons of weight, and now looks super great! She's very inspirational.
I'm hoping to start this diet tomorrow, and hopefully I won't initially gain any weight (I don't need it lol), but hopefully I'll lose some weight too.

Good luck! :)

Just a reminder... These boards are for folks that are following Alissa Cohen's philosophies on raw eating. We do not discuss other diets on these boards..
