Hi,
Just wondering with regards making the likes of hummous, lentils etc, is the initial soak enough for them to be edible (so say 12 hour soak with chickpeas and eat them straight after) or do they need to actually undergo the 2/3 day process including rincing and sprouting. I know they'd be healthier after the 3 days and sprouting, but is there any adverse effects (other than not getting optimal nutrition that they COULD provide) on using them immediately after the soak?

You CAN use them immediately after soaking, but they are so much more nutritious after sprouting that I don't see why you wouldn't wait a few days and sprout them.

Chick peas will be a little hard initially. Sprouted lentils are so good they sprout in 1 day. I love them with shredded carrots, avacado, EVOO, Lemon juice. Salt and pepper to taste. Yummy.

Thanks for the info, yeah, it's just when time is tight for example if I'm thinkng to make a recipe tomorrow for a meal the next day, then I'd just need to do the soak. How long would chickpeas take to soften up?
