Hey all you raw foodies, what types of vitamins/suppliments do you take on a regular basis, and why?
Do any of you still pop a multi-vitamin? How about all that B-12 stuff I read and hear about.. do you just take B suppliments?

I take none of the above.

I take a B-complex daily because I worry about B-12 (I know, I know) and don't yet have a lot of sea vegetables in my diet. I hope to phase that out eventually.
Lately I also put MSM in my morning smoothies, which is supposed to help my joints handle all the pounding from triathlon training. It's also supposed to make your hair grow too, which I'm really hoping for as mine has been falling out for the past few years -- eek! Too soon to tell, though.

I take a flax oil supplement every morning and a dose of chaste tree extract for peri-menopausal mood swings :o . And I take a b-12 supplement a couple times a week. Plus I take milk thistle to cleanse my liver.

I take B12 because I have been vegan for many years and my stores would be depleted by now. I know that there are many people that say you do not need to but it is my life and I am not prepared to take the risk of them being wrong. If you have just changed to vegan then you do not need to worry about it for a while.

I get my vitamins from what I drink and eat. My green juice is packed with all my body needs. Plus all the fruits and seeds and nuts. I Take some B-12 from time to time as you really don't need that much. Doug in Calif.......  :D

I take MSM powder in my water 3-4 times a week. It's an all around beautifier
and hey, I'm vein. It has made my hair grow really fast...not that I needed that.
Also good for joints and flexability and other stuff...
I take a DHA, "O-Mega-Zen3" algae oil

also take
blue green algae--Blue manna or Spirulina 4-5x a week
--to help with my A.D.D.--not sure if these are superfoods or supplements
but either way I take them.
I'm not 100% raw all the time so I feel I need the extra boost from these right
now and am experimenting to see if it helps with my A.D.D. issues.

What is in your Green Juice Doug? How do you make it?

Hey, just so you know, the B12 in sea vegetables (and the algaes) is analogue B12, not true B12 - in fact, these B12 analogues compete with real B12 for receptors in the body, so can actually accelerate deficiency symptoms in extreme circumstances.
In short, don't let anyone tell you that you can get your B12 requirements from sea vegetables or algae.
However, notwithstanding the B12 issue, sea vegetables are very healthy in sensible quantities, containing huge amounts of minerals.
Take care.

I take a whole food multi vit/mineral.
I take Spirulina Tabs and GoateinĀ® IG protein tabs from Garden of Life.
Aloe Vera in my drinks, as needed.
I supplement with Raw Hemp Protein Powder, Super Seed from Garden of Life and Thors Raw Power Protein from NFL.
In a heavy weight training/cardi phase getting ready for a Competition I take L Glutamine powder.
I weight train cardio and work 60-70 hours a week, get up early stay up late so I supplement.
This is light compared to pre Raw...when I was doing mega protein. I was doing Whey Powders, Protein Bars, BCAA, L Arginine, 7 Keto, Fat Burners...and on it went !! So dropping all this allowed me more money to buy Organic !!
I'm with Doug (as I slurp down my kale, apple, orange, strawberry smoothie). I'm of the impression that a 100% raw diet is perfect, and we can get what we need from it.
Mind you I don't scrub my carrots super sparkly any more (I've heard they've got B12 on them). And there are so many nutrients in organic foods that conventionally grown produce either has little of, or lacks completely.
Alissa has a ton of information here on B12 under "Need to know more about raw"
But in general, the more I read, the more I trust my organic 100% raw diet. (oh, except I do take hemp protein powder, but not so much because I'm afraid of a lack of protein, but because I'm big in to hemp, and incorporate it in my life every way I can.)

What's a "sensible quantity"?
