Hi I am new I have been doing smoothies and trying to adopt a raw lifestyle. I am 100lbs overweight and just wondering if there is anyone else out there that is in or has been in my shoes of being very much overweight and trying to do this the right way. I feel so good when I eat raw but sometimes I am not getting enough calories in.

Any advice would be great Thank You tammy

Hi Harley,
I am a newbie, so not much help but I don't understand why you need more calories if you are 100 lbs overwieight.

Hi Harley,
I just finished watching Sick,Tired and nearly Dead, recommended by one of the members. Brilliant stuff. I can,t ,comment on calorie intakes. Watch the movie and then see what you think.

DON'T count calories, it's counter-productive and NOT recommended in the raw lifestyle. Eat a wide variety of raw foods, including avocado, coconut, oils, nuts, especially when you are starting out on raw. With time your needs and wants may change that, but it's a learning process.

A breakfast smoothie with a couple bananas and a variety of other fruit is close to 500 cal. so I see no problem getting 'enough' calories on raw unless all you're eating is veggies...

Yeah, I agree -- I think one of the most fun things about eating raw is FREEDOM from counting calories forever!!!!

Just jump in and have what you like, when you like.... you can always make adjustments later if you find you're not losing weight. Usually though people with significant amounts of weight to lose seem to have it just fly off the first few months, even eating a lot.
