I'd like to know how others make Apple Juice in a Vitamix blender. I can't seem to find a simple recipe for it - and I don't seem to have good luck when I improvise!

Can this be done without using a strainer? I'm OK with some pulp, and using a metal strainer I have if it's truly necessary.

I was buying an organic apple juice at the local store but have had stomach issues with the brand I tried twice. So, I'd just prefer to make fresh apple juice that I can put in the fridge.

My thought was to try something like this:

2 Apples
1 Peach
1 cup Water
1 cup ice cubes

I really prefer to not use other ingredients in the apple juice unless it absolutely is necessary.

Thanks for any tips. I'm still pretty new to blending/juicing!

I believe that if you try and use the Vitamix, you will end up with a smoothie and not apple juice. You need a juicer to make apple juice. Even if you use organic apple juice from the store, it has been heat treated and that destroys all of the enzymes. Get a juicer.

vitamix the apples and then strain .... a juicer is a better bet.

I've made juice in my BlendTec and I add only enough water to get it blending. Then I strain it through a nut milk bag - or you can pick up a paint strainer bag at the big box stores for just a couple of dollars. Our produce sections sell these wonderful nylon mesh bags cheaply - 3 bags for just $2 and those work great too for squeezing out the juice which will separate it from the pulp.

Do you find the juice (and pulp for that matter) oxidise faster? I'd probably add a lot of freshly squeezed lemon juice if I had to do it this way ... I add quite a lot when I use a juicer anyway.

I've been juicing apples these past few days in my Champion and wow - those oxidise in just a couple minutes. My beautiful pink-red juice is brown in no time flat.

It's been quite some time since I tried blending/straining it and it wasn't apples I was using then. I don't remember. But that's a very good idea to add the lemon juice!

I used to juice apples in my juicer (before it broke). I juiced them, skins, seeds, core and all. It made a very foamy drink that tasted awesome.

I am sure there is a thread around here someplace on which juicer to buy. My other half went to the store and picked up a random juicer without doing any research. All I can say is don't do that. :)
