Hello everyone. I've been trying to lose weight for a few months. During the summer I was about 225 lbs. Right now, I'm at 207. I injured my knee while squatting a few weeks so I'm not working out currently. So since I can't work out as much I'm very interested in changing up my diet. I want to keep the weight loss up.

This forum looks like exactly what I've been looking for.

I want to do a combination of raw food diet and juicing. I'm not necessarily interested in doing a full-on juice fast, as I'm busy with work. But a raw food diet with juices seems very interesting. To tell you the truth, I'm a big fan of veggie juice and raw foods - veggies, fruits, legumes, nuts, seeds, and so on. I just also like processed stuff a lot as well! Suffice it to say, I've had more than enough cheeseburgers for a while. Out of apathy more than anything, I haven't paid attention to my diet and have gained a lot of weight.

So I'm going to eat raw foods 100%. I'm wondering if you think I'll be able to get from 207 to 170 lbs this way - again, I can't work out for a few weeks. I understand the results might not be instant, which is fine. But it would be encouraging to know that they will come as long as I put the time and effort in.

As far as fluids go, I'll be sure to drink plenty of water, as well as the occasional cup of coffee or tea. And I'll make a fresh juice every day or every other day. I don't drink anything else, for the most part, maybe beer and red wine but I'm giving those up for a while.

I understand that a lot of people believe weight loss is as simple as calories in and calories out. With a raw food diet, however, I'll be able to consume a good amount of low-calorie raw food but fill up quicker and lose weight over time. Right?

Thanks.

Right!

Raw isn't about tracking calories, so you can eat your fill and have whatever you want, as long as it's raw. If after a few weeks you find you're not losing weight then you can adjust and maybe take in less fats or whatever..... but also understand your body's going to be busy healing and weight loss might not be the first thing on its agenda, so some patience is required.

Also be sure you've done a bit of research to prepare yourself for some detox at first!

Anyhow welcome -- this is a great site for information and support! :heart
