Hi!
At night... i have an issue with munching at night. i'm about 80% raw right now but currently i still LOVE my airpopped popcorn. what can i substitute it with that is raw??
i'm trying to lose weight as well so nothing like nuts or nut butters would do. i'm thinking something light and crunchy maybe or cold... sweet would be good. i don't own a dehydrator though. any ideas??

Try green popcorn! I love it. You can google Phil McClusky's recipe online.
Or, try my own variation, Cauliflower Doritos -- I've been obsessively snacking on this all week. Take 1/2 head cauliflower and chop it into bite-sized pieces. Put this in a ziplock bag along with:
few teaspoons olive oil
few drops soy sauce
salt
LOTS of nutritional yeast
garlic powder
onion powder
cayenne pepper
chili powder
Smoosh it all up until well-coated, transfer to a bowl and enjoy!

Raw sushi is good too. Quite quick to make and it feels like such a treat

Oh my, qwerty, Phillips cauli doritos sound delicious - thank you for sharing!!
If you want something sweet and cold, frozen fruits are a delicious treat; such as frozen cherries, raspberries, or blueberries - yum.

Wow that cauliflower recipe sounds amazing. I'm going to have to try that. This might sound strange but I have not tried nutritional yeast. Where do you find this?

By coincidence I just saw a youtube today on making raw popcorn. (Popcorn used to be my favorite food group. :eat ) So I just made it. So easy and so yummy.
1 head of cauliflower
salt
nutritional yeast
(You can add whatever seasonings you might want.)
Slice/cut the cauliflower into bite-size pieces. Put into a plastic bag to shake. Add salt to taste and nutritional yeast - lots if you like it cheesy. Close the bag and shake until coated.
I just put a little into the dehydrator to see how it comes out - I hope warm and crunchy for tonight. I ate the rest right out of the bag and basically just finished more than 1/2 head of cauliflower. It was delicious. This is what I'll take with me next time I go to the movies.
Edit: I just found out that it was Phil McClusky's video I saw. I might have to run out and buy some more cauliflower.

BlackKat,
If you're in the Chicago area, Whole Foods carries nutritional yeast in the bulk section. Also, most health food stores will carry it. I just discovered it a few months ago and can't believe I've never tried it before.

Hahahahaha -- I've been scarfing down this stuff for over a week now -- it's addictive!!! He also has a version with spirulina, it's really good too. And try the Doritos mix, I can't get enough of it.
I'm curious to hear how you liked the dehydrated version! I tried it, but think I prefer it fresh.

I just pulled some out of the dehydrator. Not bad, but I definitely like the fresh version much better. As a matter of fact, I love it.
