Hey everybody!

I'm not sure I am posting this in the right forum section, but I have to ask you all something that I am struggling with and I am trying to find an answer to it all..
My boyfriend is your regular meat-eater kind of guy, although he loves fruits and veggies too. He loves milk, meat, beer and all other things that aren't really good for him. Luckily he doesn't like sweets so this way he can cross at least one of the bad things off his list.

The problem is that for the last couple of years he has constant allergy 'attacks' where his eyes are red and watery, his undereye circles look like he's dead and his nose is completely blocked so he has to breath through his mouth all the time or use the harsh chemical sprays to get it open (saline sprays just run out and are way too mild for this) and last year he caught himself wheezing heavily a couple of times. At the same time his hair is turning grey too fast for his age (he's only turning 23 this spring!) and is really getting visible between his otherwise black hair. The allergies are getting worse year after year and now they don't even last through the spring only, but last all year around! It gets much worse around cats and dogs so we don't have any pets in our apartment to keep the allergies down as much as possible.

Needless to say, his physician thinks that he's over-reacting and wouldn't even send him to testing because it's not 'bad enough'.

I try to help him as much as I can by making him smoothies, packed with fruit/veggie goodness and other raw dishes that he loves. He works a lot so I am in charge of food prep most of the time so I can make him what I think is best for him and that's a good thing. He loves to try new raw stuff, but at the end of the day he's still craving all the bad stuff. I don't want to push him into anything, so I don't stop him from getting he bad stuff.

I would love any kind of input from you guys, as I am really lost here - is there anything more I could do for him? Any foods that help those problems specifically? Does anyone have any info on why this happened in the first place (book/article/author references much appreciated!)? He is having a hard time understanding what's happening to him because he does all the things his mates do and can't grasp the reasons why they're 'fine' and he's not.

I love him so much and want to help him as much as I can... My heart is breaking seeing him this way..so if you have anything to say, please do..

:goodday:

He could become B12 deficiency, this lead to age quickly and gray hair. He should get check up. It could be also genetic. We pass on our unhealthy gene to our baby due to our choice. It is like you try to copy a cd, everything get copy. The good news it cans be reverse.

From his life style, he could have parasite (they eat the b12), he most likely has mucus forming in his GI track (prevent to absorb B12).

If he could make room for green smoothie in his diet, it would be a great help to him, without for him to quit anything. Green smoothie heals addiction and the first thing he will know, he will upgrade his diet to better health.

Don't try to change him but inspire him instead by choosing health yourself. Love him the way he is, knowing that he is perfect with his choice. I know you try to help him but he may not feel this way and it will reinforce the life style that arms his body instead. If you inspire him, he will soon see you are looking vibrant always and might give a try.

Share your food with him and give him a taste. Raw desert are just amazing.

All the best!

p.s I am not a medical doctor, please research

If he is having problems with wheezing and with sinuses it may be beneficial to stop eating dairy first. Could you maybe try replacing cow's milk with almond milk with him? I've heard of many people reporting allergies get better once they get rid of dairy. Just take things a step at a time slowly. As he starts feeling better it may inspire more changes as he learns how his body reacts to certain foods he's eating.

Thanks SO MUCH Raw Angel Mom and SunshineMN!

As I said in the OP, I try not to pressure him because I know that I will probably hit resistance rather than enthusiasm. That's why I try to present just facts as they are (articles, books,..) and not push him. BUT I must say that he's been surprisingly enthusiastic about it because he wants to resolve his problems too. I just let him try my food and let him draw conclusions himself. Last week I wasn't home preparing our food as I usually am and he ate pizza all week (such a guy thing to do hahaha:). When I came back home, we sat down to a (vegan, but cooked) meal and he said: 'Baby, I'm so happy that you're back... Eating all that pizza left me feeling like cr*p and I can't wait till you make me one of your 'rough' smoothies.' (I put a lot of flaxseed in my smoothies and god knows why but he loves the little unblended pieces).. I was shocked and happy that he sees the difference himself!

So my problem is not so much convincing him to try this, it's more that I would like to educate myself enough to help him as efficiently as possible if that makes sense.

If anyone has anything more to say, please do!

Love to all of you and thanks :)

Allergies are a sign of an overburdened body/immune system. If you can convince him to do one, I believe that a juice fast would be extremely beneficial. Since your in charge of his diet (more or less), find ways to fit sprouts into it (into the smoothies, maybe; Dr. Ann Wigmore created a recipe called "Energy Soup" that was essentially a sprout smoothie, absolutely loaded with nutrients). I also think that a colon cleanse followed by a liver cleanse would probably clear up his problems (especially if he was juice fasting while doing them), but again, I don't know if you could convince him to do that or not.

Thanks for the links SunshineMN! I know form before that dairy isn't good for you and he knows that too. The only thing keeping him from being dairy-free are the massive cravings he occasionally has for it.

Living Food, thanks for the recommendation! I told him about all of your responses before and what you said, and after thinking long and hard he said: 'Yeah, I agree that I might need more of your green things. And you actually make them taste good.' Hahahaha :D Funny boy

I also started re-reading Juicing, Fasting and Detoxing for life by Cherie Calbom, from what I can remember, there's loads of information on colon + liver cleanses in it... Any other good book that you might know of regarding all of this?

I wish everyone a great day***

l am not going to talk about allergies (l find allergies boring to talk about), but l will talk about grey hair. There are two types of people:

1). people who can grow their natural colour hair back
2). people who will never ever grow their natural colour back no matter what they eat.

Your boyfriend will be one of the other. l unfortunately, am in the second group. l can drink wheatgrass all day and live on raw greens, kelp and algae and it does NOT do anything for my grey hairs. ln fact, when l turned sproutarian, the amount of grey hairs l had doubled in about 3 months. Many other people who go sproutarian are able to grow all their natural colour back.
