Hi,
I've been hearing that Rapeseed Oil is really unhealthy. I know Canola Oil is but is Rapeseed Oil bad aswell, and if so, why?
Thanks!

Among many other reasons, nearly all canola/rapeseed oil is genetically modified these days. However, even organic canola oil has a very unbalanced fatty acid profile (way too many omega-6s to omega-3s). The correct ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fats is extremely important (it should be 1:1 or 2:1 omega-6 to omega-3), but nearly everyone is deficient in omega-3s.

Currently, 82% of the rapeseed crops planted in Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan are GM (genetically modified) herbicide-tolerant canola varieties.

I can't find the original page where I first read about canola oil but I'm staying far away from it. LOL I like olive, sesame and coconut oil myself. :)
