PLEASE... feel free to join this thread any time ... we loooove having new friends to fast with!!!

Here's are the 'rules' of this thread:

Please do not discuss specific food. Feel free to share "My hubby was eating and it was hard for me." Please don't share "My hubby was eating X, Y and Z..."

The reason we do this is so no one ends up getting a craving from a fasting thread. As a faster we can choose to click on a thread which discusses food but we need the safety within this thread to know food is not discussed. Juices are shared, M/C is shared, green smoothie recipes are shared... but not 'chewable' food.

Please join us... by listening to our theme song (http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=2539741). We all come together... from around the world to fast together and support each other. Please join us!

There is a great deal of info in this stickie (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=62026). Please take a moment to read it.

And here is a thread (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=61603) where we share our favourite recipes. If you haven't contributed yours, please do!

Here's my commitment (when I'm fasting):

I'm here to fast. I'm not here to eat. I will fast until I choose to stop but I will NOT stop my fast on a bad day, at night or today. I can choose to break my fast tomorrow in the morning but not today.

I'm here to gain health.
I'm here to gift my body the time and energy to bring my body to a state of health.
I'm here to release - whatever needs to be released. Physical, emotional, conscious or unconscious out-moded things... I'm here to release them all.
I'm here to bring a greater depth to my spirituality.
I'm here to support myself and others.
I am here to continue to be mindful - focusing on this moment and not anticipating the next one.
I am here to share my experience and gain knowledge from what others share.
I'm here to feel whole. I'm here to give my beautiful, cherished body a break from digesting food!!!

This is the "Fellowship of the Fasters" - unlike the LOTRs fellowship of nine, we are a fellowship of many. We welcome newcomers daily and embrace everyone no matter what they are fasting on or their personal beliefs.

Yes you can prefer green juices to fruit. Yes you can use agave instead of maple syrup or raw honey. Yes you can juice in your Vita-Mix and use a nut mylk bag to extract your juices.

We don't care how you fast... we want to support you... and in turn, we ourselves get supported... so please... join us!!!

Come on everyone.. join in the fun and grab your Elf, Dwarf, Hobbit or Human names for our "Fellowship of the Fasters"... you just make them up, it isn't from the book/movie. (if you want to participate) and put it in your signature line!

Ever wonder how the Fellowship began?

Back when I first began fasting there were the Fasting Bandits. This was a group of amazing people who fasted together all the time. The 'theme' was a convoy of truckers. I was the water tanker! :throwhearts: Over time the Fasting Bandits moved on with their lives and weren't around much at all. A few of the members are still here... but seldom fasting anymore.

I was missing the camaraderie of the FB and was always hoping to find a new group to fast with, find support with and to support myself. The Fellowship of Fasters began because Cathy and I watch the movie Lord of the Rings a LOT and we fast together a LOT as well. We began speaking to each other as though we were Golum - and our juice was our precious.

And then the Fellowship of Fasters was born!

So to be a member... you simply need to choose a name, put it in your signature line and love fasting. You can become a life-time member or one for a short time... it's up to you.

I'm here for the long haul. My water tanker is here beside me - because I'll always be a Fasting Bandit... but now my precious walks beside on a slower path than the truckers... enjoying the grass at my feet and the flowers growing out of the cracks and crevices in the rocks around me.

I am soooo ready to start my fast/feast in the morning. I really am wanting to fast for a few reasons.. I want to have health in my body.... I want to lose some weight that is not healthy for me to be carrying around... I want to grow closer to my God spiritually...

welcome along mmo...

It was my daughters 16th birthday yesterday. We had alot of people over and alot of "not so good for you" foods.. I got to bed very late and my house is a wreck this morning...

However.... I am sooooooo ready to fast that I'm not allowing it to bother me. I've had some barley green juice and I'm sipping on some honey lemon water right now. Soon I'll make some juices, but for now I'm enjoying the moment.

Hello, newbie here. I'm expecting my juicer to show up tomorrow, and to get started (really started) saturday. I'm starting this as a gateway into eating primarily raw foods. I think I will take it in 10 day increments, with 30 and 60 day drs apps and daily bp checks and the like. I have to do that part as I've got some ticker problems. With those come medications which can get out of whack very fast.

Goal this time around... Lose some weight and maybe get some of those medications cut back. Eat raw and healthy for awhile, never quitting the juice entirely, then go back for as many rounds as it takes till I'm as medicine free and healthy as I can be. If at all possible I want to chronicle my intake vs effects for each day as well.

Nice to meet yall. Cheers.

hey all, this is going to be my first fast beginning tomorrow (my march 1), I'm doing a 2 day fast with juice just to see how my system handles it (is there any certain fruit I should stay away from?). here's to the fast, we will see how i do. one question; at which point in my fast should I end- I plan on sunday morning to start soft items in limited quanity. I'm nervous but excited at the same time. why I'd doing this: I need to do this my body has been telling me for a while and I've ignored it but now I'm ready to listen. I want to be more intune with what my body is telling me, reboot my system so to speak. I'm getting healthy ( I hope with the fast I get some energy, which I'm really in need of. good thoughts to us all.

Welcome rosco and ferb.... If doing a few days fast, you don't really have to worry about how you break it. Its when you are doing a fast of longer then a week. Do a few days and see how your body feels. Just remember..... the first few days are the hardest of a fast. It gets easier after that :)

I had mostly honey/lemon water all day. I just didn't really want any juices. Tonight a made a tomato/red bell pepper/red onion/giner/kale/celery/carrot juice. It was interesting ..lol... I don't think I'll make that again, but it was okay.

I'm going to take a nice warm bath and then do some reading. I hope to get a good nights rest.

Just a question from a newbie juicer with a centrifugal juicer... On the green leafies, kale etc, I know this kind of juicer isn't efficient. I'm ok with that, but at the same time I'm a nerd. Which means I like to dissect things and fiddle with them.

Could you possibly get more yield out the leafy types with a really thorough waterlogging? Or perhaps a slow freeze beforehand? I'm especially hopeful of the slow freeze, those big jagged ice crystals do nasty things to cell membranes.

GoodCat
03-02-2012, 09:49 AM
roso... I'm not sure on that... I do know that you can sometimes get more out of the leafy greens by wrapping them around say a carrot of something like that. That ways they don't just fly away when you juice :)

Today is day 2 for me. I slept okay last night. I've had some barley green juice and now I'm sipping on some honey/lemon water. I'm going to do the rebounder for about 30 min. to get my lymph system moving..

Cathy

The rebounder... I must have missed that one. It either sounds sexy, or like something a football coach would torture you with.

GoodCat
03-02-2012, 12:04 PM
Its really not that sexy.... lol... Its a mini trampoline. Bouncing up and down is really good for your lymph system. It helps to move the toxins out..

All I'm really wanting today is the honey/lemon water. Its very strange, but I'm enjoying the moment.

I bought a watermelon yesterday. I know its not the season and it probably won't be real sweet, but it just sounded good. Here's to hoping it tastes good too :)

Hi friends, I'm starting a juice feast on Monday. I'm putting an order in this weekend with the organic wholesaler, and I have a friend who is doing it with me, which really helps. I'm embarrassed how out of control my weight got. I have started to attend OA, so thats a great support system but not an appropriate arena to talk about juicing and fasting. So I'm getting psyched up for Monday and drinking green smoothies this weekend so I don't shock my system. Look forward to getting to know you!

Hi, everyone. Today is day one for me. I have fasted only a few times in my life, the longest being 14 days. I have been really wanting to get myself back in balance again so I have come to fast with all of you. I am hoping for 14 days again but will take it day by day. I'm hoping to accomplish weight loss and also a more personal relationship with God. I knew I was being lead in the right direction when I started to read the first page of this months thread and Cathy was on the same path as I spiritualy. I know this is where I'm suppose to be right at this moment. So far today I have had carrots, kale, cucumber, celery, and some lemon green juice and also some pineapple and orange as well. Being it's my first day I became super tired about at 3 pm and developed a headache. Not that I didn't expect that..Also I feel like I have tons of mucus already in my one side of my nose and up though my head. Weird but I'm happy to see it coming out so it can leave me. Thanks for letting me fast with you. Look forward to sharing this journey with all of you.

Hi Karen... Welcome along. Its great when we feel the leading to do something. :)

I too have had some detox symptoms, but I welcome them because I feel like I'm healing.

Today I did the P90X cardio because I want to exercise during this fast (and after) to help my body to detox and lose some weight. I feel really good so I'm going to keep it up.

I'm sipping on some honey/lemon juice with water... Ahhhhhhhhhh......

Cathy, the honey/lemon sounds wonderful but I have no raw honey in my home. I will head to our local natural food store and get me some. Yummy. I am also going to exercise though this fast. Today was a Body Bar workout using a 18lbs and 14 lbs bars. It was a high rep workout. Just now I did some dry brushing and soaked in a nice hot tub.. My head felt better in the bathtub but it's setteling over one eye now. I have to say the best part of a fast on the first day in my experience is the great sleep I normally get. I feel so tired and sleep like a long. Where as in other days I sleep well but am a light sleeper. I hope this holds true for me tonight. .

I hope you get a good nights sleep as well... I'll be taking my bath in a few hours still and then I'll read a little.

I wanted to make me a tomato/veggie juice, but didn't have the time, so its more of the honey/lemon juice for me.. Maybe tomorrow :)

Shew. Day 4 already. I think this is going to be one of those "Huh? What?" days. Went with apple juice this morning for breakfast. Should have tossed a few veggies in to up the amount some. It amazes me how different juices taste when made fresh compared to how they taste out of a jug.

Anyone tried juicing single items then mixing to taste? And anyone have a good recipe for something that mimics the taste of v8 pretty close? I love that stuff but know it's no good for me.

Welcome simplylivn..

Great job stina...

rosco... I make a wonderful tomato/veggie juice that tastes like liquid salsa.. You could adjust to make it more or less spicy and such.

I use about 6-8 roma tomatoes, 2 romaine hearts, 1 red bell pepper, 1 bunch cilantro, 1/4 red onion, a few gloves of garlic, a pc. of ginger, 1 cucumber, 1 lemon, and sometimes a zuchinni. I will also add in a little olive oil and sea salt to the juice if I'm doing a longer fast. Its amazing!!

So today is day 6 for me. It feels really good. I've had some barley green juice this morning and now I'm sipping on some honey/lemon water.

Well, after my bath last night all heck broke loose. I mean the detox came like no other. I was feeling ok after my bath but then my head started screaming at me. I got flush, my face got red, the kids thought I had gotten the flu or somthing. I felt like someone needed to chop my head off and I would be ok with it and thank them. I became stomach sick almost to the point of vomiting but didnt'. Then about 10 pm I fell into a deep sleep. Woke up when hubby told me to go to bed and I still felt awful. About 5 am when he went to work he asked me how I was feeling and i was still feeling quite bad. I woke up at 7 :30 and to my suprise I felt like someone gave me a shot of happy juice because I felt great and had tons of energy. I did some power yoga to get my lymphatic system rolling and I have been good ever since. This is the first time I felt this bad with detox. But the worst is over I hope and I'm onto day two and loving it. I should say loving it more because I'm not sick. Juicing on pineapple and orange today. along with some green juice. But for some reason I'm craving pineapples.

Rosco

I'm having the "bad" day as well. No energy, foggy, "knock kneed", and was having some very intense cravings. Which is weird for me, usually I'm either hungry, or not. I don't usually get all excited by one food or another.

Smelled my lunch juice and had to toss it. Things would have been bad if I had tried drinking it. I think being at work actually helped me. Kept me busy. If I had been home I think I would have been too tempted to resist. Quite a bit better now, but going to stick to fruity stuff for tonight at least.

Hopefully this will scurry off into a corner by tomorrow, but maybe not. I've got a lot of years of bad stuff to answer for swimming around inside me.

Oh and thanks for the recipie. I'll give it a try, I hadn't thought of going in the salsa direction. May have to experiment with a little vinegar in there as well. Love that tang.

so i put a peice of kale leaf as big as a quarter on my tongue and let it disinegrate . and its amazing how on a fast that seems like
a big meal . i do thatr alot on fasts , put a green or peicve of fruit in mouth and suck on it a few minutes then eject the fiber .
always looking for ways to avoid hassle of juicing as dont like cleaning up the pulp from it . i wish theyd make that manual ITO JUICE PRESS
larger as ide get one in a second because of its ease of cleaning , plus low cost . need to make a big one with half gallon size hopper

Hi Raw friends,

I'm on day three and doing okay, just tired and cold, no major detox yet. Thinking I should find the enema bag and do a coffee enema- the time has come! ;)

My friend is going to loan me his Champion juicer, so I'll be using both that and the Greenstar. For some reason carrots taste better with the champ and it's so much faster.

Wish I didn't have to work so much but I'm financially obligated to. I'm resting as much as possible.

Have a good day of fasting everyone. I look forward to your updates!

Hi everyone. Sorry for the late post today. Time got away from me. Day three for me. I'm feeling pretty good. Speaking of gardens. Michigan Roman and Cathy- That is where most of my day went. A little about me. I'm a homeschooling mom of three girls and I love running, yoga and gardening. Got our shcool in pretty early and actually doubled up on some school since I knew it was going to be nice out and my kids would live outdoors if they could. We are enjoying a very mild winter as well. Today was like 65 and tomorrow is suppose to be 70 degrees. Anyway I'm expanding my raised beds. I have 6 now but my husbnad added 2 more this evening for me. We are making our deck a bit bigger by pulling out a flower bed we have with landscape ties around it. We are using the ties to make the new beds. Recycle...Just like Michigan Roman said, I went out there and found one plant of russian kale and a few swiss chard leaves. I picked them and used them in my smoothie. I got all my beds weeded with the help of the kids and we pulled up the strawberries and planted new ones in pots to free up one of my raised beds. That patch of strawberries has not been producing so it's time for some new. Anyway when hubby came home he got two of the beds together and is now working on two bluebird houses for me for insect eating since my garden is organic. Tomorrow since the weather will be nice we plan to finish weeding the rest of the yard and turn the soil for some new soil I will get soon. My compost pile looks pretty good so I'm going to turn that in as well. We also got our broccoli plants started for our indoor sowing. I read they do better in a cool place to begin with so I put them in the basement in a sunny window. Hope they do well. Anway that was my day. I also got in a 3.5 mile run before the gardening. I had tons of energy. I've also been sleeping like a baby. Fasting really does that for me. Also I said that personaly I wanted to fast for a closer relatonship with God. I swear to you as I was sitting in the garden watching my kids play and carry on outdoors, It dawned on me how important my family is and how thankful I should always be for them. Not that I'm not, but to many times you miss the small stuff like watching them play and interact. God is doing his work with me and I'm forever thankful for this experience. They hated coming in for dinner. My youngest who is 10 asked if we could have a day like that again tomorrow. I'm sure we will. I'll make certain of it.

rp , in case youve the type landscape timbers that are heavily treated with chemical to keep them from rotting they shouldnt be used around edible plants as the chemicals get in soil . your probably aware of this but just thought ide state to be on safe side . ps - seeded a bed with romaine / red russan kale / arugula / catalogna dandelion today to kick off garden season 2012 = happy day . even got fire pit going to burn all the stix which fell from my oak / hickory trees over winter , threw on some logs to keep wood smoke blowing in windows all night = love having a fire going if for nothing else the wood smoke scent

Thanks for the info. I did think of that. I actually meant to say new flower beds. Hubby brought home the new wood tonight for my two new beds along with the pressure treated wood for the deck. We are making two new flower beds with the the ties by our tiny pond which our neighbors ducks now use as their personal pool. They really are cute swimming around in it. Sounds like you were as busy as me today... Still have a lot to do. He just got both of my birdhouse cut out tonight. Now to nail them together so they can hopefully work there magic this spring and summer. And I too love the smell of wood..... :)

I used to do the gardening bit. We had about 1/4 acre we would typically use. Some of the best growth I've ever seen came from stuff planted in what were brush burn piles. Especially cucumbers. Poke a seed in the ground and jump back quick so it didn't reach up and poke you in the eye.

Rosco- that is what I need. A magic cucumber tree. We have about an acre but I have a contained garden with raised beds. The soil on my land is horrible, with a capitol H. We do have tons of wildlife too. We live in the woods. Our neighbor actually has a farm. On any day there are all kinds of animals in the yard. Their cow got out the other day and was at my window. Scared the living crap out of me. Not many days you turn around and a cow is looking at you. They normally have him contained but he got out with their horse.
Day 4 for me. have tons of energy. Woke up at 6 am and did some yoga. having some lemon water and going to hang out some laundry and work in the garden again. Also off to our natural food store to get me some raw honey and stop on the way home to get another apple tree.

We grew critters when I was younger. Cows, chickens, pigs etc etc. When we were doing that we would plant right at an acre as well. That's quite a bit of work when your main farming implement is a tiller and a hoe. :D It wasn't uncommon for me to wake up and have to round up the cows or the like. Neighbors horses would show up and hang out in the yard until they came and got collected too. Cows are weird. The only reason a fence holds a cow in, is because it doesn't realize that it can walk right through it at anytime it wants. One that does it a few times finally realizes that the fence is more of a suggestion than a rule. That's when you wind up with the cow looking in your window every morning wanting its nose scratched.

Every spring we would wind up with a few piles of stuff that had to be burned. Plant a cucumber or a squash or zuchinni in there and it was off to the races. For some idiot reason I grew a cucumber garden one year. about 100 feet x 25feet. We ate cucumbers until we couldn't stand them, made pickles until we ran out of jars, and then I put up a sign for free cucumbers. I think I gave away 15 dozen.

Oh and day 6 is here for me. strawberry, apple, red grape, orange juice for breakfast. carrot, red leaf lettuce, and tomato juice with some salt for lunch. I'm feeling pretty good and know I'm dropping weight. I washed my clothes and dried them on high heat so they would shrink and fit. That's a good feeling. Won't be long before they just plain won't fit. I'm looking forward to it.

Good Morning.. You all are such an inspiration to me... I'm so glad you all are fasting at the same time as I am.. Its a blessing! I only have a same garden in our back yard. Its about 400 sq.ft. I would love to have land some day, but we'll see if/when that happens. I'll do what I can with what I have

Today is day 8 for me on the fast. I'm feeling pretty good. I'm having one issue that is strange.. I've never had this before and I'm not sure what is causing it. I'll have to do some research. Its swelling. I notice it mostly in my fingers. Even though I've lost around 8 pounds, I've had to forcefully take off 2 of my rings because they were soooo tight it was hurting me. They weren't tight when I started the fast. Its strange.

Well today I'm going to have some watermelon juice and green lemonade. Two more of my favorite things

Cathy what is the green lemonade. I would love some. I just got back from the market and got me some raw honey. That and an apple tree. Now off to plant... Hope the swelling goes down. I'm on day 4 and lost 6 lbs. I went from 191 to 185 so far. I use to weigh around 145-155 where I feel really good but my mom passed away 3years ago and when she did I packed on the pounds. I ate though the loss. I've been this weight up and down give or take 10 pounds for the last year. I'm done with this yo yo I put myself though. I got a compliment today. A freind of mine said that she has really loved my eamils and texts this past week. She said I seemed so happy. I feel it to.

Did you put that thru a juicer? Sounds so good, I want to try it tonight.

Anybody use asparagus in their juice? Picked up some today and have no idea what to do with it. :d

Going to try some strawberry limeaid for breakfast. Maybe with a touch of salt so i can use more citrus vs strawberries. It's amazing how sweet citrus can taste with a little salt, asopposed to a whole lot of sugar.

Had to get on here real quick before I start my homeschooling to say CATHY- The green lemonade is fantastic. OMG... It is so good. I'm in heaven drinking it. My one daughter loves it as well. Thanks for the recipe.

Anyone know anything about Manufactored Soil. I called today to get some soil and they said all they had was manfac. soil. I haven't needed soil in a long time but I need to fill my new beds with good quality soil since my own soil is mostly clay and rock. Any info would be awesome. How about mushroom soil..

I feel fantastic. Kind of sleepy, but It's 9 am. I don't wake up till 5 pm or so. :D

Breakfast is still all fruit. Strawberries, pineapple, oranges, apples, and lemon
lunch: bok choy, collard greens, red romaine lettuce(or however you spell it), carrots, apple, lemon
snack: 4 lemons and 3 limes + water + a little honey + a little salt. I wanted to make some strawberry limeaid with honey but didn't have enough limes to do it like I wanted.

recently saw a charlotte gerson interveiw where she spoke of using nut / seed myks and vegi broths in their cancer healing diet .
and though i see it as water fast best , then raw juice next , nut seed mylks next , cooked vegi broth next .
i still believe that if you need to add nut / seed mylk / vegi broth in at points of your fast its a great move in order to extend
the time you keep g.i. tract empty , as during the empty tract times damaged / diseased cells and internal pollution can be washed out
at quickest pace possible . as opposed to a state of occupied g.i. tract where the washing out of pollutants goes at an extremely slower
pace . my amature veiwpoint anyway

here at completion of 5th day , drank coffee today as on a fast a cup of coffee becomes like food to me giving me strength

Hey fasting fellowship. :wuv

Think I'll be joining in for April! I have a few questions if anybody could recommend me anything...

I'm going to do a quick juice fast in the next couple of weeks once I've used up the fresh produce I have in the fridge. This is just to get me started with an easy one. Then in April (maybe a little before) I want to try a more intense fast. :)

Can anyone recommend a good fast to use in April?

I really want to get the years of toxins and rubbish out of my body. I'd like to do something fairly intense. I don't know much about fasting though, I had a look at the master cleanse. Is it good or is straight out water fasting better? How long should I go for?

I know it's mostly about what I feel but I need some advice too. I feel like something intense needs to flush out my system.

I'm thinking maybe the Master Cleanse in April, then doing an extended fast in June when I move to the country that mixes relaxation, yoga, EFT, MIR and meditation into it too for a mental detox.

Any feedback, advice?

Thank you!

GoodCat

Hi PansyLo... I don't have much advice on which kind of fast is better, but I just wanted to encourage you that anything you do with fasting will be a help to your body. When I fast, I really don't know what my body is going to want until I get into it. Its funny like that. Usually when I fast I want lots of veggie and fruit juices. Like 5 qt. of day. This time around I'm drinking honey/lemon juice water (about 1 1/2 qts. a day) and then a little veggie juice at night. Its very strange.

Today is day 10 for me. Last night was a little hard for me. We went to a Purim party and there was lots of raw foods fixed. Its easier for me to not be tempted with cooked foods, but raw healthy foods was tough. I stayed strong though and drank my juices that I brought and now I'm no day 10.. yeah..

Cathy- great job on making it through last night.

Day 6 for me.- pretty tired today. I don't know where my energy went but it's not here today. Hopefully it will find me tomorrow. I also am finding my skin to be super dry. My face on my forehead is flaking. My nails are just pealing too. I think that is from the gardening but still I had to cut them because I can't stand to look at them. Other than that I'm doing good.

Pansylo- I think any time of all juice cleanse will benefit you greatly and remove some of the toxins in you that are built up. Personaly I have never done a fast more than 10 days. I'm hoping to make 14 this time but I'm putting no expections on myself. I'm a newbie..I'm going with the flow. It's hard since I'm a typical type A persoanlity. My detox lasted one day and it was not good, but having done a few short fast I knew day one would rock me and it did. I like it like that though becaue the faster it gets out of me the better. Day two I was flying high. Just today I'm feeling tired but also very accomplished. This site and forum and these memeber of the fasting bandits have welcomed and helped me greatly. My suggestion is do what you feel but for me that means any type of juice I like the day that I want it. This go round pineapples are my friends. We can't wait for you to join us.

Day 7 - Feeling less tired today. Yeah... Getting a lot done in the yard today. Got some red peppers sowing indoors and all my herbs sown.. I don't have a green house ( want one) but my childrens room has turned into that for me. They get the most sun all day long so I have tons of shelves in front of thier window. Had to put the spray bottle out so the cats wouldn't jump on them. Growing them some cat grass. My one cat lays in my wheatgrass bed all the time. So now I'm growing them thier own. Juicing on pineapple, blueberries, oranges in the am. Now drinking some carrots, lemon, apple, spring mix, celery, and the rest of the russian kale I found in the garden.

Do you try and monitor how much you drink in a day. Some days I only want like 2-3 quarts of juice and other day it's like 4 or more. Is that ok...I feel ok..

I haven't had a single person I've told about this not express the opinion that it isn't safe.

I'm waiting on a blood test, at least then I will have that to wave at them. They also tend to think it's a fad "diet", or he's starving himself to lose weight.

DST is kicking my butt too, it always has, always will. Stupid thing to have to adhere to.

rawpromises
03-12-2012, 05:43 PM
Sorry Rosco- what is DST?

GreenKarma- i have a few freinds who have put my fast into question. I dont' try and convince them one way or the other. They ask me questions like ( how am I gettting complete proteins) ( am I starving) but I just answer them with the knowledge I have and my experiences and if they think I'm a flake so be it. I have the support of my husband and kids and that's all I care about. I know how I feel and what I trying to accomplish too. My dad thinks I'm nuts so I dont' even bother to tell him about it. He is very old school and all the goes with that. I'm ok with it though because I know he means well in his own way. He just doesn't know any better. Even if he did it is all hocus pocus to him... This is a man who takes 15 pills a day to stay alive...He really doesn't care but he stil thinks I"m carzy.. You should see him when he comes over and I drink wheat grass in front of him. You should hear the comments and jokes. But I love him..

As for me day 8. Feeling pretty good but am a bit tired. Otherwise drinking some green lemonade and my new obsession pineapples, oranges, and blueberries.

Whew the first four days were so hard, I would aimlessly walk into the kitchen for something to eat and be like "doh juice fasting no noms" I have been treating myself to reallyyummy eclectic vegetable juices. Tons of flavor profiles. Mmm mmm. But today I had energy to go restock on supplies and get some advertising for my massage therapy business up around town. I am shooting for 11 days here so I feel dead in the middle and get these panic like must eat something feelings that I quench with sunshine and juices. I'm getting a massage tomorrow which is super exciting and then I'm going to soak in Epsom salt baths in the afternoon. I think the massage will further push along the detox as I can certiantly feel it in my spine and joints.

I had expectations of it subsiding at some point but I guess the tongue is very telling. I feel a bit better now. Whet out and got some racks to hold all my raw things on. I also got three large stackable bins to hold my fruit. Right now it's in this giant bowl on the island but all the fruit keeps rolling out. Now I have some type of storage. Sipping on some celery, tomato, oraange, and garlic juice. Very yummy.. It is really helping my salt craving today.

Thank you Denise and Welcome along!!

Today is day 15 for me. I'm doing okay. Its been a little tough this week, but I'm hanging in there :)

Cathy

Cathy--I've been following your posts because you are so inspirational! 15 days is absolutely amazing and i just wanted to share that you are incredibly strong to indure that much fasting! I'm hoping that I will do one in the near future. How long are you planning on going? Doesn't your body weight get too low?

Anyways, just thought I would share with you that you are quite a fasting role model:)

Today is a whole WEEK! 7 days of no eating, just juice and water and tea. I am super proud of myself and impressed by my will power. This again is my first fast ever and I feel like Im doing really well and I have even inspired a friend to join me! Spring has sprung here in Asheville. working on weeding and tilling the gardens to get going with the greens, already started my peppers indoors. I cant wait to make a glass of juice from my garden! <3 I am definitely going to keep fasting as a part of my life, spiritual and physically i see nothing but good things. Loving the process and the challenge.

newby1313... Thank you so much. That was very sweet of you to say. Aleesha has fasted for over 200 days once and that is what inspires me :) I plan on fasting for 18 days. I have about 20 lb. to lose, so I don't worry too much about that :) I am happy with this fast though because I haven't been able to get past a week mark for over a year... So its nice to finally do this again.. But when I first started fasting, I couldn't even make it one day!!

I hope you do a fast in the future and that you continue to let that be a part of your life. Fasting is so healing on so many levels.

Hey all!

Day 1 of fasting (going to do a week). Had alfalfa sprout juice, wheatgrass juice, sunflower greens juice, pea shoot juice, chia greens juice, and wild garlic mustard + dandelion greens juice. Feel amazing! Fasting solely on sprouted juices makes you feel unbelievable, there's nothing that even comes close to the feeling.

Day 13 today. Felt a second round of detox last night. Got a stomach ache and then a headache/earache. Not sure if it's detox or some type of virus my kids and hubby had. Mine is much milder than what they had. I"m sure the juice fast is helping me not to get whatever it is full out. sippining on lemon/honey water right now. Stomach a bit off but overall I'm ok. Today is suppose to be nice so I'm hopping the sun puts me in better spirits. I'm so happy to be at day 13 I'm very proud of myself.

Woke up fairly hungry today, so I had a sprout smoothie with my wheatgrass juice. I plan on doing a lengthy juice+fruit fast once all the wild fruit in my area comes into season, but until then I'l be using sprout smoothies for concentrated food.

Yeah I know smoothies take far more energy to digest then juice, but I'm not fasting because of any health issues, so don't really care. This is just a warm-up for later in the season, anyway, when I'll try to live off of wild fruits and greens (and grasses) for at least a week.

Good Morning everyone... Today is day 17 for me... I've enjoyed this fast, which has been nice.. But I'm ready to start thinking about coming off.. I will still fast through this weekend, but I'm preparing for when I'm not fasting.. This is important too so that you don't mess up all the good work you just did fasting by eating things that aren't the best to eat after a fast..

Just a thought :)

Today I still have some tomato/veggie juice and lots of honey/lemon juice water.. I also have some orange juice... Yummy!!

I see so many differnt methods about coming off of a fast prunes, ect.. Can you tell me Cathy what it is that you plan to do... the method I used on my 10 day fast was Day 1 adding in a smoothie and continuing with juice. Day 2 added juicy fruit with 2 smoothies and green juice, Day 3 I added a salad. Is this a good way to break a fast or do you recommend somthing else since this fast is going to be at least 14 days or more for me. Thank you.

That sounds great to me. That is pretty much what I do.. I do add in a probiotic and/or some fermented foods to bring in some healthy bacteria to my gut..

I will have a green smoothie and/or raw blended soups and then add in the salads.. I try to stay away from the nuts for about a week until I know my system is running smoothly :)

Had some more alfalfa sprout juice, clover sprout juice, sunflower green juice (lots), oatgrass juice, and about 32 oz weed juice (dandelion, garlic mustard, plantain and clover). Also dug up some Queen Anne's Lace (wild carrot) roots and threw them in the juicer with some chia greens juice (too sweet for me otherwise). Going to top it off with some ryegrass juice before bed.

Cathy-Congratulations on accomplishing another fast...

Today is day 14 for me. I said I would make two weeks and I did. I still don't know if I'm done yet. I had to go get some more fruit and vegs today and low and behold in the grocery store is a box of 30 oranges for $5.. I could not resist. So with this many oranges I still made add a few more days to my fast. But we shall see. On top of that my husband has some type of virus he got from the kids. I don't have it and I don't want it. I think extending my fast will help me not get it until it leaves my home for good. Had some wonderful pineapple, orange, blueberry juice this am.. I juiced some green lemonade for later on... Now off to clean..

Hey y'all I ended my juice fast on day 9. I was shooting for 11 but it's ok. I plan on juicing again very soon, and I plan on working yummy juices into my diet from now snout as meal replacements. I would like to loose around 35 lbs total so I plan on fasting for two weeks soon, and then soon there after another trying for three. Fasting felt very natural to me, I think that I will have success with it in the future.

Congrats to those continuing on! I hope you get healthier by the day! I know I feel like I'm radiating.

Blessings.

Hi Everyone,

I started on raw foods 2 weeks ago, just fruit, veggies and nuts. lost 6 kegs and feeling great but I think I need to up the ante.

This morning assembled my new twin gear juicer and made a vegetable juice.

I have been inspired by the movie Sick, Tired and nearly dead and will do the juice fast for 10 days.

I want to eventually do a liver cleanse. When do you think would be the best time to do the cleanse?

Hi everyone! Im back on the fasting train! I fasted back in January and made it to 23 days, it was my first juice fast other then doing the master cleanse one time last spring. I was shooting for 30 but i pinched a nerve in my neck and decided to end it short because of the meds i was taking. Today is day 3 for me and so far pretty good. I had a bit of energy today, the mental fogginess feeling has lifted pretty much, headache is gone. My legs are starting to ache a bit but not bad.

It was an absolute beautiful day here in Michigan, got up into the high 70's! Its great getting out into the fresh air, especially during a fast..

So far today i had orange/apple juice and Cathy's Green Lemonade which really hit the spot! Might have some herbal tea in a bit and some kind of a spicy v8 type of juice tonight

Congrats to everyone who finished their fast. I am looking forward to this fasting journey, not sure how long i'll go but i might try for the 30 days again to experience all the wonderful benefits that fasting has to offer

Cheers!!

I want to eventually do a liver cleanse. When do you think would be the best time to do the cleanse?

After a colon cleanse - doing a liver cleanse without doing a colon cleanse is like flushing a clogged toilet...all the toxins will end up in your bloodstream instead of being removed via the colon. A rather unpleasant situation.

Hey fellow feasters! I am a long time mostly just lurker but somehow today I feel like jumping out and checking in. I am on day 8 of what I hope to be an extended juice fast. Now whether that means 30, 60 or 90 days I don't know. I figure when I am done, I am done. I hope it is for a long time though. I just finished a berry juice with strawberries, blackberries and blueberries. I added some apples and black grapes to extend it to my three littles. After the fruit that I just bought is gone though I am going to stick to predominately veggie juices. I think the heavily fruit juices may make my blood sugar levels wonky or something. My favorite veggie juice is kale, spinach, parsley, cucumber, lemon and apple though sometimes I add grapes if I am going to make extra for my littles. I could make that every single day but I don't think you are supposed to have the same greens everyday. I need to work on getting a variety. I usually only make juice once a day. I do get hungry in the evenings but I just don't feel like making juice so I just drink water. Be well all!:heart

Also had an herbal tea that is great for allergies and asthma it had, gynostemma, nettle, rose hips, licorice root, eyebright, red clover and i mixed in a little honey.

Hello Everyone,

Today is Day 1 of 10 for me (at least I caught the juice train for March!). I've been scanning the posts and think I have the general idea of what I need to do. I have three goals; to purge toxins/waste, to have more energy, and to lose weight. This juice fast is my gateway into the raw food based diet.

However, I have seen various suggestions to drink a maximum of 64oz. or up to a maximum of 192oz. Any thoughts on this? Today I had just under 4 liters (about 128oz), and that felt fine. I know to go heavy on the greens and other veggies, and don't overdo the sweet fruits. I just don't want to over/under consume.

I understand that everyone is different, but what is a realistic expectation on weight loss for 10 days? Prior to this I have been on a low-carb plan so I don't have much water weight to lose. 25lbs. on a 30-day juice seems to be a common number on the posts. I drink about 4 liters of water a day as well.

For those who have fasted before, how does your body respond when you go back to your normal way of eating? Does it revolt or do things just go back to normal.

I have also seen people talk about years of waste that is purged from their bodies, and I am wondering how much of that is true versus exaggerated? It's a little scary to think that Twinkie I ate when I was 14 might still be hanging around :-).

In general, I just wonder what lies ahead and would like to set my expectations at a reasonable level. According to the weight charts I should be between 115lbs and 155lbs. Currently, I weigh 158lbs. and would like to be in the middle at 140lbs.

Off to juice my dinner! Any tips/comments are welcome.

Hello, 43 Years old, probably about 60 pounds heavier than I was when I was 23. Anyway, had a physical, had some high blood pressure and was at about 247 which was shocking for me. I'm about 6 foot. A buddy at work started juicing and told me about the doc "Fat, Sick And Nearly Dead". I was most inspired by the fact that I might be able to rid myself of allergies which have prevented me from breathing thru my nose since I came to America (from England).

Well I'm on my 4th week of juicing and eating small amounts of raw food for 6 days of the week, nuts, raisins, oranges, prunes. From 5pm on Saturday thru Sunday I eat what I want, but I make sure it's sensible.

I cannot tell you how great I feel, how inspired I am and how much my sense of will-power has changed. And the obvious weight loss so far has a girl in my office joining me and I feel this is a life change. I cannot see myself going back. I haven't felt this way since I stopped eating meat at 16 years old (which lasted 24 years and only ended on the death of my beloved Grandfather... long story).

Thought I'd share... now I have to get back to work. Be well everyone.

Day three water fasting.

Glad i made it this far because it was very challenging not to brake the fast. My mind was popping up with all kind of reasons and excuses to brake it. I almost cried, lol.... I could feel that part of me that doesn't want to heal and get better but i just change my focus as it came. I connected with nature and she was so helpful. I even hug a tree,lol... Wow i could feel the energy. Anyway, i am dealing with nausea today, yesterday was a light headache all day. I have been doing my enemas and my symptom changes as i complete them. Yesterday was the headache and today the nausea. I think i need to book a colon therapist to do a good rinse in my colon.

Wishing you all the best and a great fast to all of you!

Thanks very much!! I hope your headaches and nausea are feeling a little better today... I Feel really good today, been going to bed a lot earlier also with my 2 year old because I have to get up early. Got up a little too early today.

My one weakness right now is a cup of coffee in the morning. I don't have it immediately, I drink a lot of water in the morning, then have a cup of coffee an hour later, then have my first juice a couple of hours after that when my workmates come in.

My first week I had a lot of headaches, so I've cut back a lot and at some point I'm going to get rid of the bean. Or am I? How do you guys feel about coffee in general???

It took me two years before i finally was able to ditch the coffee. I decided to follow the advice of Gary Zukav and feel my emotions. I found out that i was drinking it because i was bored. Once i figure this out, i was able to stay away. I had to use herbal tea to simulate coffee to help me during fall time. Now i am free.

If i was you, i would ditch the coffee period. Juicing will help you to heal quick from this addiction. If you decide to pursue coffee, buy organic only and drink it black after a meal. They use MSG in coffee shop to make it more addictive. Personally, i know that i cannot make exception. I don't miss it a bit. Green smoothie was my coffee.

All the best!
