Decided to add dates to my raw food intake so I ordered 20 lbs on the web.
They came today and I sat down and ate a big bowl full. Holy smokes they
can really fill a person up. My belly has been stuffed for 2 hours now.

I will definitely keep dates on my daily menu. I needed to add some thing cause
I was getting hungry at night and falling of raw. Dates fits the bill.

Yes! It's true they are very filling and excellent to sweeten things up. From gourmet raw sweets to smoothies. And sometimes I like to eat them plain, just popping in a pecan and it's like a "raw turtle" candy. If I'm feeling empty, it's my go to snack.

Dates theoretically have a very high glycemic index for a vegetable food, which means they don't really contain slow release carbohydrates, but more simple sugars that have the potential to quickly elevate blood glucose levels. Depending on how many you eat, they can infuse you with a big load of calories at once, which will keep you feeling full for a long time. I personally wouldn't eat too many dates at once because of their high sugar content and the associated "sugar rush". :)

Read an article that said Dates are safe for Diabetics to eat cause they dont spike your blood sugar.
Also glycemic index is B.S..
