Hello everyone!

I have a question about reverse osmosis vs distilled water. I was talking with a co-worker about it and they claim reverse osmosis is not good for you because it strips out everything of the water and then it uses your body nutrients. They claim distilled is much better as it keeps a lot of stuff and is more a pure water. I would like more opinions as i have a water cooler and been filling it up at whole foods for the last 2 years with reverse osmosis and always seen they have distilled. I am sure this has been talked about many times but never thought one was better over the other.

Found this online: "Think about it. Minerals are present in the ground and must be biologically bound in order to be used by the body. Where would that come from? Plants, or course! Your mineral source should be plants not water. The purpose of water is to cleanse the body. To do the best job of that, it must be free of everything else. Only distilled water fits that bill."

thank you

RO water is nearly free of minerals and DW is completely free of minerals. They are very similar. That being said any water that is purified to such a degree will more easily dissolve minerals and metal ions from its surroundings (containers, pipes, etc). Actually this could increase its ability to pick up harmful toxic impurities. Both can also lead to more elimination of electrolytes from your body if you are not getting salts and minerals from your food.

All that being said I don't think you need to worry at all about DW vs RO water especially if you are on a high raw lifestyle. You are getting enough minerals from food and the difference between the purification method will have no impact on that. Drink either to your health!

For what it's worth - we've had a reverse osmosis filtration system since 1982 and we're still alive and kickin'! (wink).

Now - my holistic MD told me that RO water removes the good with the bad and that I should add mineral drops back in. So, I was doing that. Then my naturopath told me our body does not absorb those minerals in the mineral drops, so I stopped and I just don't worry about it anymore. We still drink the RO water...

I finished my 5 gallon water jug and just got a refill again with the Distilled water. It seems the distilled water seems more clear than reverse osmosis. Just taste great and very refreshing. Next fill up though i will get reverse osmosis. Just impressed with the Distilled taste so decided to get it again.

One of the world's most foremost health food researchers Dr Brian Clement has used RO for years and he rarely comes up deficient in nutrients. l am getting a RO in a few weeks.
