Private Messaging

Hi ~ I was wondering why Private Messaging is disabled? It would be great to be able to send private messages! Thanks.

I remember when I very first joined the forum that it was switched on but I think there was a lot of bitching going on behind the scenes via the messaging function and so it was disabled. You can email members as long as they have that option switched on but I agree that it would be nice to have messaging back again.

Yeah, I think MysticTree is correct. It used to be a function that was available, but some members sort of abused the privilege and they turned it off. They would do marketing thru Alissa's site as well as send negative emails. I also agree that it was a nice feature.

Ahh - well, I wonder if each member had the ability to choose whether they wanted to accept private messages rather than completely disabling it.

It's a nice feature and I'd use it a lot. Thanks for the comments!

At this time there private messaging isn't an option and won't be in the foreseeable future. Feel free to email one another though... that works great!

and email is much more secure. There is a very easy hack for the PM system if you own/run one of these forums - not that I am suggesting that that the owners of this one would of course.
