OK, I have a nut question. I live right near a BJ's that sells bagged nuts that don't say whether they are raw or not. Should I assume they aren't raw? The ingredients just say "Walnuts" for instance. Are all nuts roasted unless they say otherwise?

I've never seen roasted walnuts before. I believe all walnuts are sold raw. With others, you may see 'natural' written on the bag. In any case, the natural and unroasted ones are going to be as 'raw' as any other claimed 'raw' nut.

Hi,

It may be either raw or blanched before packaging. I was shocked to find out a bag of "RAW" almonds I bought at the store had pasteurized in fine print. For me, when in doubt I call the company. Chances are it may be raw but I always want to check to be sure they do not put preservatives on them to extend shelf life. Just my 2 cents:)
