I want to do vertical sprouting and I like the Freshlife 1000 Hand-Watering Sprouter linked below but the price is a bit outrageous is there any cheaper alternatives? I have searched for some and didnt see any.

Just use jam jars. There is no need to get fancy with sprouting. Save your money for the seeds you want to sprout!

Yeah I have 12 half gallon jars that I plan on using, I just need to find screen to use as the cover that wont let the small seeds spill out. How do you do your growing in jars? Do you just let them sit upside down on a rack in a sink or what? I cant really leave mine in the sink so I was thinking of putting a tote under the counter of the sink and putting a stand in it to hold the jars upside down.

I set them at an angle of about 45 degrees on the drainer. If I need to use the sink for washing up then I just move the jars until I am done.
I use nylon netting such as that for old fashioned underskirts for ballgowns and cocktail dresses. You can get it at any dressmaking shop. If the holes are a little big then use two layers.

I'm using the sprout master mini (http://www.amazon.com/Sprout-Master-Mini-Triple/dp/B000FK52B2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1329688720&sr=8-2)for vertical sprouting. There is also a bigger sized one (http://www.amazon.com/Sprout-Master-Single-Sprouter/dp/B000F0FX52/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1329688720&sr=8-5). You can find them on Amazon.
I jar sprouted for years and then took a long break from it and just started sprouting again. I wanted to try vertical sprouting and just started using the sprout master. So far so good, haven't finished my first crop yet with it. You can also grow micro greens in them if you put down something like cocotek for them to grow on. That is my next project, I just need to hit the gardening supply store and pick some up.

Check out Burpee's. They are cheaper but may not be big enough for your needs. I found them awkward to use compared to jars. They didn't nest well after a while. But you are looking for inexpensive, and if I remember correctly it was about seven dollars. Might find in seed section of a home depot.

I have a product I ended up finding that I have a company sending me a sample but its not in the US so its taking a bit to get here and if I like it I can get it wholesale from them.
