As so many of us do, I have come and gone with raw for a long time; 5-6 years now at this point. Right now I am not raw. Eat a salad every day, but that's it in terms of raw. In terms of time for food prep, I pretty much have all the time I want - oh happy day. It's not about the time or effort it takes getting reacquainted, but some deeper fears that I don't know how to manage.

I have lost around 45 pounds in the past few years, kept it off for over a year, doing a number of thing (including exercise). But, I'm not all the way down yet - as much as 20 pounds to go. My hair is lackluster, my skin is breaking out again (as it usually does 4-6 months back into cooked food), and I am irregular. This is not the way I want to go into my wedding day, or my marriage. You see, I'm getting married in 6 weeks.

I am afraid, ladies and gents. Afraid that delving back into raw means my eating disorder will get worse or I'll gain weight, and that detox symptoms will make me break out even more. And yet I want to have that glowing, fabulous look raw brings.

Is it possible to beat the fear (and the e.d.) with raw?

Thank you for listening. I welcome your thoughts.

Consider joining the Feb Juicing Challenge. That is some quick detox, lol. No fear of gaining weight. Just try to have the majority of your calories come from veggie and green juices. There are some very tasty green juice recipes. Then, drink as much as you want. Do not restrict calories. Consider it a fast to get as many nutrients into your system as you can to get that clear skin glow and bright eyes that show how healthy you are. When you wrap your mind around eating enough calories and see that your weight is ok, maybe you will be ok with it mentally. Take some nice warm epsom salt baths to help with the detox also. I also love to use coconut oil on my skin and hair. At first I thought it would be totally gross, but it really works nicely. Just a tiny bit is enough, don't slather it on, lol.

I am on day 8 of a juice fast with dh and was thinking of doing another week with him and then moving back to simple raw. I would go thru the Feb Challenge with you though if that would help you any.

Sounds like you have been doing great otherwise though!

Have you tried different ways of eating mostly raw foods? You might be able to find something that works for you with none of those bad effects if you experiment. I tried the 80-10-10, but it wasn't for me. Now I am more of a general rawist, and I eat what works best for me. If you really want the benefits of going raw, it's worth it to try to find a way to make it work for you.

Not sure about the 80-10-10, don't remember Alissa mentioning it in her book. The thing is I really need to make more recipes. I can go for quite awhile on salads and smoothies, or the "breads" and "pizza crusts," but because I have a family that is not sufficient for the four of us!! So eventually I cave and eat cooked again. Right now okay with cooking for them and experimenting with recipes, though it can get expensive.

Just afraid that if I do anything other than flat-out starve myself, am going to have visible cellulite on my arms on the Big Day - which I know is a very small consideration in the scheme of things, but I've never been married before and have a very clear idea of how I want to look on that day. It's not like I'm fat, it's just there are areas which aren't toning up as fast as I'd like, and the past few months have had injuries or illnesses which have kept me from working out as much as I'd like. Not trying to complain, just frustrated as the day is fast approaching!

Six weeks is plenty of time for a major transformation with a juice or smoothie fast! Have you ever tried one?

It's especially handy when you're cooking for a family -- you don't have to worry about preparing something separately for yourself, you just make yourself your juice (or smoothie).

I have to feed me first before I start making my family dinner must have a snack. This week I have a plate of chopped fruits and veggies ready. When we get home we munch 2 days thats all the kids wanted to eat so I didn't make them anything else. You definitely need to eat alot of fruits and veggies don't be stingy. I have upped my fruit intake my energy is increasing greatly and I was able to button my size 10 today. Couldn't on Wednesday. Yeah. You have to make it work for you.

Cucumbers and juice with cucumbers might help your skin. Even slices on your eyes while relaxing.

Im sure youll be a beautiful bride on your special day.:kisses:
