Hi,

So I tried to make my own Almond butter with my Omega 8004. I ran it through the machine and it came out like powder 1st. Which is how it is supposed to be like. So I ran it through the machine again, it came out like it was trying to become butter but still powdery. I ran it through one more time and still could not get it to change texture. I read in the Omega manual you are supposed to add nut oil to help it turn into butter.

So I added some coconut oil and it helped out a little. I was not happy with the texture. And I put this in the fridge and next day all the almond butter was hard because I used the coconut oil. And After tasting it you can really taste the coconut oil. Didn't turn out how I liked. I did make Peanut Butter prior and it came out pretty good. Not really wet like you get it at the store but close. But I chose not to do Peanut butter cause people say it is not good for you. Anyone have a recipe or method on how they make Almond Butter? I feel like I wasted it.

BTW, anyone got a recipe I can use this failed Almond butter with?

I haven't tried this one yet, but if I was going to make my own almond butter - this is the one that I would try:

I made some in my vitamix, but the food processor method in the above link looks easier since you don't have to scrape around the blade, although it does come out of the blender surprisingly well. You can use the failed butter in a smoothie.

R'Mila do you have a smoothie recipe?

I have made a banana, almond butter, almond mylk, and berry smoothie before. It's yummy. I've alternated between strawberries, raspberries, and even mixed berries. It's a take on a peanut butter smoothie I used to make before I learned the truth about peanuts, as you have learned also. Yummy

Thanks for the link Deb! On something like nut butters that a person hasn't done before, it's great to have those in between pictures to assure you you are doing it right.

We might have similar tastes. I personally don't like cooking with coconut oil. A lot of people love it, but it tastes overwhelming when cooked with foods in my opinion. So I can see how the taste of coconut oil along with the almond butter wouldn't be good.

I really like the look of those instructions Deb. If my poor old processor blade is up to it I may try that this weekend.

Ref. raw coconut oil. I like to use it in things that I want to taste of coconut. If I don't want that flavour then I'd use raw grapeseed oil probably.

You can get raw, organic almond oil now so that would be my first choice if I was making my own almond butter!

The almond butter my girlfriend tried to make didn't turn out either. DebB's link ( http://www.rawmazing.com/raw-recipe-almond-butter/) shows the process really clearly, a good food processor is definately key, which we don't have. We also have a poor quality blender. We got some raw almond butter (really raw) ready made for my sons birthday party and it was so good, I could eat buckets of it. Probably best we don't have it around too much.

I followed the youtube using my food processor and it came out perfect. Now I think the reason was I didn't soak the nuts this time (I had read soaking stops the natural oils from being released in the process).
Before when I soaked the almonds, it never turned into butter.
