This is a question for anyone who has switched from a centrifugal juicer to mascicating. I have a Breville juice fountain I love it. I read the mascicating (OMEGA VERT) uses less produce so did anybody find this money saving?

Did you find the Breville faster less chopping and faster juicing.

Thank you for the info. Im trying to convince my hubby I need a mascicating juicer for juice fasting.

Yes, in general the Omega VRT will produce more juice and drier pulp than the centrifugal juicers. How much money you could save may not be that much but every penny helps. Personally I think the masticating juicers can juice more varieties of produce well than the centrifugal juicers can and you are bound to see better yields from the VRT comparing specific produce.

they save you a lot of money. i was totally shocked at the difference between a centrifugal - i was also using a breville - and my champion and greenstar.

I had a juice fountain plus for about a month, and I switched to the Omega VRT350 because I wanted better yields for my leafy greens. There are a bunch of comparisons on Youtube between the different types.

It does take longer to juice with the masticating juicer, but I enjoy the time and work from home (not in a hurry). I like the quality, less frothy juice of the masticating.

The centrifugal juicer design is one of the oldest juicer designs. Juices play an important role in our body. It regulates our muscles and makes physically feet.

Thanks everybody. I think I have a new juicer in my future.

The masticating juicers are more versatile. You can do more than juice with them. Nut butters, sorbets, banana icecream (banana whips), sauces. All sorts of stuff. For me, the pulp is MUCH drier with the masticating juicer. I use a Champion. I am terrible, I bought it because I watched the reviews on youtube and it made the best banana whips, which is what I was after. LOL. ( It does that because it puts more air into it than some other juicers, which some might not like because the juice is a bit frothy. ) It is like soft serve ice cream. So good. And we use the juicer constantly right now for our juice fasting. I can see that it will become our most used kitchen appliance. I buy tons of ripe bananas and freeze for icecreams. The more you get into raw, the simpler you will want things. You will use the dehydrator less and sprout more and juice more. That is my experience at least. Have fun with it! ( I hope you get it! )

ive gone thru two cheap centrifugals , krups and a juiceman , and a champion . centrifugals and champion froth the juices up WAY to much for me . i gave brand new champion to my mother because didnt like it for froth factor . so ive been window shopping like a year for next juicer taking time because dont want to get stung again , mean while im juicing with pot / manual potato masher / nylon bag . where im at is :

- if i liked centrifugals ide buy a breville , theyve got great reveiws and ive seen at store and theyre built solid

- the omega 8000 series gets great reveiws from raw foodist ive spoken to on line plus the juice expert john kohler who says they are his fave

- john now really likes omega vert , and that got me gung ho til i saw him say to a question on youtube there can sometimes be a problem with the pulp ejection tube backing up

- the people whom make the highly respected green star , which seems great but i wont spend the $500 on a juicer , also make a $100 hand crank manual z star juicer which i saw kohler
reveiw and it looks very good . only problem is ide have to build some type base to install it in because it looks to slide around on counter top a bit

- ide prob buy the green star because have seen so many like it and it looks well made , but wont spend the $5

just thought ide throw those thoughts out there tracey as i know your window shopping so it dont hurt hearing more ideas . oh also one factor im looking at is returns . online you can get stung , i got stung on the champion i couldnt return to some small place in new york . maybe a place like amazon or kohlers discount juicers would take a juicer back and pay shipping im not sure . but i know bedbath beyond has the 100% satisfaction guarantee so if i buy an omega 800 series or omega vert from them im confident i could take it back easily . that weights heavily in my decision ands got me thinking one of those two . though that manual z star could happen

Thanks MR. I have the Breville juice fountain. I really like it but want a mascicating juicer Omega Vert would be the one I get. Im trying to justify spending $350. Im not sure how much juice I would have to make to recoup my money.

I bought my VRT last June and have used it 3-4 times a day since. It has been a great machine. Ejection port clogging is never really a problem if you know how to use the machine properly. I never force food into it. I try to let it self feed as much as possible and when food does not go down I gently tap it down. Yes, if you were to juice lots of stringy vegetables like celery or kale all in one batch it may be a problem. I tend to just chop those up into small pieces and alternate with harder foods like carrots. It juices softer things pretty well too like citrus. Sometimes I'll just take a big bowl and chop up everything into small pieces, mix it and slowly feed it into the machine. I've had (cheap) centrifugal juicers before. This is hands down a winner for me compared to those.

thats good to hear greg

another thing i got to last nite reading is the omega 8000 series and other single auger horizontals are said to be bad with soft fruit such as tomato /pineapple etc as they clog up blade ,
and the vert has a blade wiping peice , the white plastic basket looking part that spins around cutting blade , that prevents clogging thusly making it better for soft fruits

but no one will guess the ' juicer ' i bought today , it aint called a juicer but this thing i guarantee lasts decades . i'll bring a link

ive been looking and looking since giving my champion to my mom for my next juicer and i keep finding flaws , plus huge coin levels .
and i most juice soft stuff like pineapple / tomato / oranges , and can juice greens in blender with water then strain if want them .
can do same blender / water / strainer method with hard stuff like carrots . and all the juicers said to have bit of problem with soft stuff .
so i bought a real heavy duty peice of equipment called a vertical sausage stuffer , this thing is just a heavy duty metal geared press
with stainless steel cannister . im going to cut up my fruit and put in nylon mesh paint filter bag then throw in cannister and press out
the juices . NO FROTH / NO HEAT , best tasting juice can make imo . and i got it on sale at a sportings goods chain here in detroit
dunhams for $150 . i'll report results after trying it tonite with tomatoes / apples / oranges which i have on hand . link :

its 24" tall . bottom base is 12"x12" . stainlesssteel cannister is about 6" in diameter and 10" tall . entire thing including gears is all metal , even the piston that crushes the produce , it just has a silicone gasket around its edge so juice cant get by when crushing

this thing is HEAVY DUTY , thats why i bought it . if it works this juicer lasts me 50 years . and i checked replacement parts are cheap so i'll buy a few back up parts for down road

I have the Omega VRT350 and it is a good juicer but I find that the juices are too pulpy even with the finer screen. I end up straining it anyway.
It is a total pain to do hard fruits like carrots etc as you have to cut them up pretty small. I also find that it froths a lot as well. Pulp is very dry except on pulpy items like cucumber and cantaloupe etc. The machine is quiet. Fairly easy cleanup. Great for greens. Prep time might get annoying if you are doing a long term fast where you drink up to a gallon or more of juice daily.
My mom gave me a subscription to a carrot club where you get a 25 pound bag of carrot every 2-3 weeks so I am contemplating getting the Breville Ikon or something. As the thought of cutting up soo many carrots is mind boggling.

ok time out , just tried juicing tomatos with it and doesnt work good , the juice comes up over top of the crusher / piston and creates a mess of spillage when disassembling for clean up . plus it needs some type of screen at the exit port to chop up tomatoes as without they just become semi smashed tomatos . back to the drawing board . this thing is a very well made sturdy peice of equipment buts not made to handle liquids

I watched John do almond milk with the omega vrt, it looked really thick and creamy. And I wanted some. LOL. He was comparing the vrt to the horizontal version. The horizontal one made the milk, but it definitely looked thinner.

So many choices.

I think buying a juicer is like buying a new computer. Decide why you need it and how you intend to use it. Get the specs you want and then after you buy it....don't look back. A week after you buy, it will be on sale because there is something better and cooler.

With all of the amazing raw vegan innovations, how come no one has figured out how to grow money on trees? Surely it is as simple as a special fertilizer??

watch what john says about the screens in the vert , the plastic one cracks . i got on to this after relooking over the vert tonite at bedbathbeyond , i took it apart and saw all the parts inside the screen housing and im not sold on its longevity concerning several of its parts . its a bit of a complicated design and has a few chincy small parts i dont like . between that and over the years seeing thousands love there omega 8000 series and seeing the sturdy simplicity of its design my radars back on that

MR - I wonder if you put the tomatoes in cheese cloth if it would work properly? Perhaps tomato chunks are clogging the exit port and keeping em in cloth would help? I dunno though, just a thought.

thanx fastfreedom but the just as big issue is the juice comes up over the op of crushing piston from down below in the cannister and gets on top of the piston , and then when you have to dismantle to clean the piston juices spills off it big time . plus at bottom exit its not gasketed / leak proof so it leaks there . its a great heavy duty tool , but its not designed water tight for liquids , its designed for solids

One thing that made me sell my Breville and get an Omega VRT was the 1 year vs. 10 year warranty. If something breaks, it'll get replaced.
