I try to go a couple days every now and then, and I find it beneficial. What's the most ideal way to fast?

heres a thread on my outlook : http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?66844-lt-lt-lt-lt-lt-the-monday-fasting-club-gt-gt-gt-gt-gt

besides my weekly fast i like getting in at least 4 longer fast per year of at minimum 5 days , on up into 20's

but im 53 and grew up on a heavy standard american diet til going vegan 18 years ago , then til going raw / high raw 6 years ago i was on a vastly cooked whole food vegan diet .
bottom line til going raw i ate alot of proccessed / cooked stuff and not very much raw produce , so i feel ive got to fast on a very regular basis in effort to wash out as much
cellular pollution caused by past unhealthy diet as i can . but if i were younger and constantly on the go 24/7 365 theres no way i could fast as much as i do now as i would need
the fuel to burn , so age is a factor imo

i prefer to fast about 1/2 to 3/4 of the year myself.

so in other words... how much do YOU want to fast? a little, a bit more than that... a lot. it's all about what your body wants, what your lifestyle supports and you own desires.

find YOUR flow... and then go with it.

Very good points. I'm younger and play sports, so I definitely need the energy. My fasting is pretty limited, but I could see myself doing it more at a later time.

There's no "should" here. I'm turning 63 in a couple of weeks and have never fasted. If it's what you feel to do, do so. If not, don't.

I agree with this. It all goes with my philosophy that every person is different and they do what feels best for them.
