Hi,

I've fasted in the past and have always loved how it makes me feel :) I am planning on a 40 day fast that is meant to improve my weight (206 lbs at 5 foot 4) as well as my overall health....I feel I need to do this to help clear out my body and this is just something I need to do...

I'm 19 and at college and I'll post daily.

Day 1 ends at 8pm tonight and so far things have been going great...The only thing is I'm craving food - I'm not hungry I just want the taste, ya know....so far I'm resisting and just focusing on my water and my school work. It's very hard though...don't you love how your mind starts rationalizing that it would be ok and stuff when you fast....lol or trying not to spend money :/

Wish me luck I need the moral support :meditating:

Welcome and good luck!

There's a thread for everyone who's fasting this month to all post together and support each other -- some are doing juice fasts and some are doing water.

Join in if you'd like! :throwhearts:

wow 19, in school and water fasting for forty days. that's a huge thing you are undertaking. i wish you all the best. you may want to consider switching it up to juice fasting though... as your mental clarity will be higher and your energy levels will be much higher with juice than water.

when i water fast - often just going from the living room to the bathroom is too much excursion and holding a thought is too much for me.

Thanks :)

I considered it but with water fasting I feel lighter and it actually helps my thinking process strangely enough lol if things get to bad I might switch over but until then water all the way!

ide chew on something , a bic pen cap :-) anything . the chewing action quells appetite a bit for me . it like fools the stomach into thinking your eating so thought gets out of mind

Well I succeeded Day 1 is OVER!!! :woot:

Now a couple hours into day two I all of a sudden have this feeling of being homesick...I'm wanting comfort in a sense which is what I think food has always been for me and now I don't have it I'm at a loss just a guess....I don't know for sure why I'm suddenly homesick soon after my cheeks got red...

My cheeks have also gone really red all the way down to my chin and neck and my eyes are somewhat duller in the white areas...don't know if this is all just detoxing suddenly hitting me or what...

I'm not really wanting food anymore (THANKS for the chewing on a pen cap tip!) and even if I was it wouldn't matter lol everything is closed

Bring on day 2!

11 hours until the end of day 2 :D

so far doing great - woke up a little groggy but after I got outside I was fine...My cheeks aren't red although the whites of my eyes are still dull...

Very off topic but it's raining over here in Idaho and I love it :D Finally getting some winter weather after having almost non at the end of 2011 :D

wow 40 days! Just remember to take it one day at a time. Although we may have goals in mind, it helps to just remember that today is today and tomorrow will be tomorrow. (I'm on day 3 of a water fast)

I have also been guilty of using food for comfort, which is why I started fasting. It can be hard for me to start a fast because when I know I'm not going to eat for X amount of days I want to eat as much as I can. I remind myself the food will still be there when I'm done, no need to cram it in now. But once I fast for 3 days or longer I start to lose the need for food as comfort.

:cold: Really cold right now...wearing a jacket but it's not helping much...other than that and the white tongue I'm not feeling too bad...lower back hurts a bit and cheeks are red again but it's nothing too bad...

An hour away from day 3

Wishing you all the best. It is already an amazing accomplishment. Is this your first water fast???

I will do another round of water fast in March or perhaps sometime in February.

Sending you a big hug!
