Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums, this seems like a great community. :)
I was a raw foodist for about a year with good results in my teenage years. I eventually stopped because I felt that being a raw foodist interfered with social activities, which I cared about a lot more back then. The other reason is that around this time I visited a traditional Chinese doctor who I told nothing about my lifestyle to. He told me I had too much "cold" in my body and was probably eating too many raw foods. He did this assessment by looking at my tongue and facial complexion.
I've decided to try it again because I've come to the conclusion that I have many unidentified food allergies. Recently after eating my regular diet (which was vegan and gluten-free, but not raw), I started to feel very fatigued after every meal. I would also sometimes get headaches after eating, especially with restaurant food.
Now I'm 25 and have been doing a 100% raw diet for 3 days. I plan to use this diet to detoxify, and eventually want to go to a diet that is 80% raw. I would only include things like cooked quinoa, steamed veggies, cooked veggie soup etc, because I feel it is very necessary for me, personally. I need hot foods once in a while to feel balanced.
Today I ate a raw pickle and my mouth became numb and itchy afterwards. I've never had this reaction from this food, which is produced without chemicals or vinegar. Is this an allergic reaction or just a weird side effect of detox? Any ideas?
