View Full Version : For a beginner of raw foods, would a short water fast hurt me if I did a juice fast?

I tried to do a 3 day juice fast, and it was too much for me last time and I didn't have enough money, so somebody recommended an 8 hour water fast between a juice fast if I didn't have any money at that time.
Are water fasts dangerous for people who are still beginners at raw foods?

water fasts are not dangerous, especially if you're just doing it for a short period of time (like one or a few days).

For the next fast, I plan to spend the first day on Krogers apples and oranges because they are really cheap. I live in Michigan, so doing fruit juice fasts are really hard up here.
I know the apples are not quality, but I don't think it matters for the first few days because the pesticides don't enter the bloodstream for the first day because the colon and digestive tract has to empty itself out before any major healing can begin, right?
But on the third day, I plan on juicing 17 oranges a day. Oranges would be low in pesticide because the peel protects the orange.
I just hope this is enough for my body. How much water do you think I should drink a day if I did a water fast?
Should I gain weight using the addition of cooked sweet potatoes 3 days before doing a juice fast?

They aren't dangerous as in life threatening, but they are the fastest detox. So the more you need to detox, the harder and faster the healing crisis might come. I've done many a juice fast and I water fasted for the first time intermittently during my last juice fast. Even after a year of eating high raw, a few years of eating whole food healthy, and doing tons of cleansing I still had a healing crisis from water fasting. So just be prepared if you're gonna do it, expect to feel great but also prepare to feel a little detox-- don't plan a lot of work that you need to get done during that time.

Uhh... not sure I understand this. Anything you put into your body is being absorbed into your body. So yes, the pesticides would enter. That said, the benefits of fasting may outweigh the negatives of ingesting conventional fruit, I'm not sure. Just wash them really well if you choose to use them.
No, I don't think you should try and gain weight before. Why?
I never measured my water. I just listened to my body and drank water or juice when it felt like I should.

after fasting, can you gain muscle on your insides-like your heart, spleen, liver, pancreas, etc by bodybuilding?

I don't think its dangerous just hard to do. Look up RAW Angel Mom. She just did 14 days and had wonderful results. She also posted information on water fasting. I will look for those links. Its very healing for you.

but after fasting, does your body put on muscle like for the internal organs?
bodybuilding on only one region of the body I heard was only supposed to help build muscle in that particular area of the body.

after fasting you aren't going to gain muscle simply because you fasted.

with long water fasts I have no experience. Only did a 3day and a6day water fast. Dont know how it is to put on muscle after the water fast.
Did a 2 week green juice-only fast though (no sugars, no fats, no additives, just fresh juice freshly squeezed from green plants) and was able to lift muuuuch heavier weights in the gym and seemingly could put on a lot of muscle.

A one day water fast is a great idea. When you feel ready, you can try a 3 days. And after that when you are ready, you can do a 7days. You need to train your body. Read on how to brake a fast and don't forget to go outside to get the energy from nature, the sun, and fresh air to oxygen. Look into enema or colon hydro therapy, especially for the 7 days.
All the best

Your body will rebuilt new tissue and rejuvenate. It is important to do raw food for as many days as you fast. Focus on fruits and leafy greens.
