Hello everyone Im new here my name is Morgan Im 30 and living in coastal NC. I am getting ready to start atleast a 30 100% juice fast. I see a lot of people here to loose weight and wanted to see if anyone was here juicing for health reasons and what success you have had. I have vocal cord dysfunction. I cant get a death breath and constantly have sore throats and feel like there is something in my throat. I already do not consume dairy or a lotof processed foods but with no success in changing my health. I have been through lyme disease and most recently mold poisoning. During the mold fiasco i got a upper respitory infection and ended up with the vocal cord issue. It affects every sec of my day!!! I cant find relief from anything i try. Does anyone know if juicing can heal nerves and repair damage in my throat area? i see people with success with MS im hoping this is so far out there to hope for. ANy success stories would be greatly appreciated. also recipes....I purchased an omega Vert is this an ok juicer to use? What is the detox like when you start if you are so not healthy? Any tips for starting?

I don't have excess weight, so losing weight has never been a motivation of mine. I simply chose to eat raw because I found in my experience that it was the best way to nourish the human body. And juicing came along with that. I think juicing is spectacular for nourishing the body and I recommend it to anyone I speak with that has the slightest hint about trying it.

I wish I would of spent an extra hundred dollars and purchased the vert. But I'm satisfied with their 8006 model, though that vert has been looking good lately. ;-)

Doing a juice fast will speed up the detox process immensely compared to eating a cleaner diet such as raw vegan. Both will cause you to detox, but juice fasting will detox you quicker. And that could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on many factors.

Detoxing is inevitable. But you can assist your body to get those toxins out sooner rather later. Sometimes the toxins will recirculate in the body because they can't get out quick enough. Learn about colon hydrotherapy if this interests you. Literally volumes of knowledge could be written on this subject, and pretty much has been. If you want some more info on it I would suggest reading the works of Dr. Norman Walker and Dr. Bernard Jensen. There are others, but these two specifically talk about colon health relating to overall health.

my fave small appliance expert whose a long term raw foodist / juicer john kohler loves the vert , says its his favorite . hes got tons of vids on it at youtube

no doubt raw foods / raw juices can heal damaged cells . to me its find the juices that taste good to you and get long term gung ho on them , i go by taste buds not what others say this plant heals or that plant heals . as long as its raw i then let my taste buds decide what to ingest

have you ever tried ingesting aloe vera gel / juice . obviously a well known tissue healer , but many dont know it can be ingested .

i find making home made almond mylk is very soothing to g.i. tract / esophogus

your on the right course , just have to stay the course . its difficult to stick to . get imersed in the raw vegan culture at places like youtube doing searches
to keep you fired up about it

and if your issue has anything to do with bacteria infection of the throat / esophogus the herb golden seal is proven to help in that area , great source for powdered golden seal root is www.mountainroseherbs.com , ive bought from them over a decade and theyre , imo , best herb suppliers on earth

Hi, yes I am here for health reasons and although I have a weight issue that was not my primary motivator. I have various health issues mostly of the auto-immune variety that affects my muscles and joints throughout my body and freedom from pain and pain/anti-inflammatory & sleep aide medication is my optimal goal. These things have not reversed themselves with raw diet alone so I too decided to try juice fasting/water fasting over a longer period. I am now 13 days into my fast (water only the past 3 days) and am already finding relief from pain and I am off all my medication. My body still is uncomfortable but it is bearable without medicating it and each day gets better and I am very encouraged that fasting can reverse our health issues.

As far as the detox symptoms, I think everyone is different depending on what kind of diet you were ingesting prior to fast and what kind of physical and mental conditions you are/were dealing with. For myself, I was in pretty bad shape physically even though my diet was pretty clean. The first 5 days were brutal for me with increased body pain, back ache and leg aches and for the first 3 days a headache but by about day 5 the symptoms lessened a lot, reoccurred around day 7 but left quickly and now each day I feel better and better.

Hope that helps, go ahead and give it a try and see what happens, you seem like me you really have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Don't let fear of detox stand in your way. There is a fasting group on the board in progress that will give you support and encouragement so hope to see you posting there soon.

Such a simple yet PROFOUND statement. i just wanted to say that I, and I'm sure so many others, would agree with this 110%. Once we begin to listen to our bodies it will tell us what it needs. Over the past week I've been eating oranges like CRAZY. Everyday for probably 4 days. My body needed something that it knew it could get from the oranges so I was eating tons of them. I went through probably a box and a half of em. LOL

I agree completely. I always let my body lead the way...

(and every fast I do is for health reasons. I love my body... it deserves a vacation to heal!)

Yes Im here for health too. I need energy. I just saw a great explanation in a movie (Fat,Sick, and NEarly Dead) When you scrape your knee you keep it clean leave it alone and let it heal. THe inside of our bodies are often neglected. We need to leave it alone (fasting) and let it heal. It sounds so simple. This is my new mission to get back my childhood enthusiasm about life. WHere you can't wait to wake up and jump out of bed. :) Fasting gave me someof that

Health reasons here. I'm 5'7'' and weigh about 120, so no weight issues at all. Not only that but I never seem to lose weight while fasting anymore. I did in the beginning like crazy! Now? I just stay the same lol... it's quite odd, like my body knows about fasting now, and as soon as I start it goes "Oh, THIS again--let's get to work!" :)

I believe fasting can heal just about anything, but it takes time and learning and dedication. I'll have one fast where my body seems to spend all the time healing one thing, and another where I feel totally different. My last fast was relatively easy and pain free and this current one I'm just about to end was brutal and sent me into a crazy detox. That's part of the fun of this journey though, you never know what's next!

Personally, i believe juice fasting can cure anything. If you have Netflix, I'd recommend watching "The Gerson Miracle", which is about the Gerson Institute and their juice therapy treatment for healing cancer and other diseases.

Come join the monthly fasting thread when you're ready to start your fast!

I love The Gerson Miracle! I discovered the Gerson Therapy in my research after my mom was diagnosed with liver and lung cancer. If you like "The Gerson Miracle" then I would highly recommend two other documentaries about the Gerson Therapy: "Dying to Have Known" and "The Beautiful Truth." They are both very powerful documentaries and are available on Netflix, and I have watched them all several times :)
