Hi! New guy here.
After watching three documentaries on Dr. Gerson, and the Fat, Sick, and Almost Dead one, I got convinced there might be something to this. 'course now I have to get Alissa's book and check that out too!
I'm 42, and anywhere from 25 to 50 pounds overweight depending on who you listen to. There's nothing wrong with any blood tests. My last blood pressure taken at the docs was 120/78 which I was dissapointed because it's never been text book perfect, but always soooo close! The only problem is I hurt, everywhere, all the time. Mostly muscles and joints. I'm also tired, all the time. I go to sleep tired. I wake up tired. It seems I'm downing more and more motrin/tylenol/aspirin everyday. This just doesn't seem to be the way to go... I think I'm gonna try a ten day fast starting feb 10th. But that's later.
So, I'm thinking about getting a Norwalk, but it's not in the budget until next year. I looked at the Welles press, but to spend $400 on something that does pretty much what the Norwalk does that you might be getting in a year seemed silly to me. So I did what any good aircraft mechanic would, and I built my own 2 ton juice press. Total cost was a whopping $19.78. I'll get into that later if there's any interest. That's not what this message is about.
I made the press today, came inside with it and my 12 year old helped me pick out some ingredients to give it a whirl. We wound up with celery, carrots, apple, lemon, and some ginger. Tossed all that in the kitchenaid grinder, put it in the press and got way more juice than I thought I would. It was about 12 ounces. Now, granted, this is probably more nutrients/goodness than I've had in a year, but within 10 minutes of drinking that I got tingly all over. Then about 10 minutes after that my tummy started doing barrel rolls... Is that normal for a first glass? :weird
