I just had to share my amazing luck with people who would understand how awesome it is! I on occation will look for a vita-mix on the local craig's list listings. Usually nothing shows up but this week it did. It didn't list a price just said call and make an offe. So I called. The lady said she was a cancer surviver and just wanted it to go to someone who would appreciate it and she would be happy just to get...ready for it....$25 for it :eek: For Real!! I'll take it! :woot: We kept talking a bit and she mentioned she was also selling her juicer...juicer? What kind? How much? Oh it's a greenstar, and yes for another $25.

So I just got home from picking up a vita-mix and greenstar juicer, both in good condition for a grand total of $50 :woot::dance:

I can't belive my luck! These are two things I really wanted but thought it would be years befroe i would ever be able to afford..if ever.

When you get the juicer my advice would be to go outside and pick some dandelions, Juice them with some cucumber, celery and carrot and taste the flavoures of life. Well done, great purcheses.

She said that she would not be selling them if she was not forclosing on her house. She said she was selling everything that wouldn't fit in her car.

I wanted to give her more for them, but if I could afford more I wouldn't be shopping on craig's list for my kitchen appliances...kwim? I did want to do or make something for her...a raw desert or knit a scarf to say thanks, but I didn't have time before we met. But I did give her a big ole' hug :)

I had a similar situation last month. I found a spirooli on craigslist for $20, I called the woman and she was in a financial bind as well. She wanted to sell me her mandoline but I couldn't swing it (i'm a single mom w/ 2 kids, a full time college student, not to mention it was Christmas time). I told her about why i was switching to raw foods, and she told me her history. I told her about the consulting job I do part time from home since she was looking for a job. When I met with her husband to pick up the spirooli, they gifted me the mandoline :heart

Wow! This inspires me to look visit craigslist. My sister would love to have a Vitamix. She lives on a ranch in Wyoming and grows a lot of her own food. A new Vitamix is out of the question for her but a deal like this would be fab. I would buy it for her even!
