View Full Version : Help, why am I so constipated?
I did a 10 day 'shanti master cleanse' fast, 4 days on green shakes and am since 3 weeks on raw food. Since over one week I'm completely constipated.
Only large amounts of Oxypowder help at this stage.
I used to be on a 50/50 healthy diet with very little fish/meat and never had this problem.
Despite the constipation I lost 6 kg which is not really good. I was hoping to gain weight.
Any help is appreciated.
A typical raw day is:
Green drink
Nut/dried fruit bircher muesli with nutmilk
Salad
pea protein superfood drink
zucchini spaghetti with pesto or other fancier raw food dish
cacao truffels or mango icecream (of course no sugar)
I do take some enzymes to help with digestion.

Maybe the pea protein is turning into sludge and blocking your outgo.

Did you introduce your foods back properly?

Have you tried flax seed oil and take it 3 times a day maybe this will help. It helps me because fiber does havoc on my system, yeah I know go figure right.

How much water are you drinking? Drink more. And if you drink the water slightly above room temp or warm it will go straight to the colon. If you drink it cold the stomach will hold onto it and warm it up before it allows it to pass.
I don't know much about oxypowder. I've read it a little here and there. But I would suggest colonics or enema's especially if you need em.

Figs and plums/prunes have always helped for me. And they are super healthy anyway ;-) Plus water like fastfreedom suggests.

DON'T let yourself get constipated! So NOT healthy! Use an enema!!!
Thanks for all the suggestions.
I only drink warm water and drink more now than I did before on my other diet.
I eat dried fruits like figs but plums give me cramps.
If I don't go one day, I take Oxypowder as it cleans everything out next morning, so I definitely don't keep stuff in for more than a day.
I stopped the pea protein for a few days, no luck
I take Udo's Oil which has flaxseed in it.
I did reduce the amount of nuts, which seemed to help a little.

I honestly don't know if oxypowder creates dependency or not. But I do know that colonics actually strengthen your colon and more or less tone the muscle so that you can effectively eliminate better.
Some people swear by drinking lots of apple juice to get things going again. I've not experienced this though. I typically like to eat cherries if I can find them or dark skinned grapes. I've found both of those to work for me in the past.
Maybe hold back on the dehydrated food for a little while too. Too much dehydrated foods in the diet has the potential to cause constipation. I would try to stick to plants that have high water content for a little while till things get moving properly again.
Also it's pretty common for people to experience constipation when they switch to eating raw food. The colon just isn't used to so much fiber. And it varies from person to person how long it will last. My brother tried eating raw food and he had a heck of a time with becoming constipated. It was just too much for him to quickly. Though he never tried any colon hydrotherapy to remedy the situation, and he was pretty uncomfortable for a little while.

I had this problem on raw food, my constipation went away for a while then came back. Read this thread.

Curious about the Oxypowder. I haven't heard of this.
I would definitely drink plenty of water. Lay off of the dehydrated foods. Soft fruits tend to make me go. Im taking Chlorella tablets they have a purging affect on me also.
