That's my question folks. I can't seem to find anything about it. So... is it worth paying $15 a pound for organic ginger rather than $2.49 for the non-organic?
Inquiring minds want to know.

WOW. Talk about a price mark up.
I honestly don't know so maybe I don't have much to contribute. But here's my opinion. It comes from the soil, and if the soil is loaded with chemicals and such then it will accumulate in the root. I only purchase organic carrots specifically for that reason.

that's my thought as well. but ya, huge difference in price. a small root costs about $9 and lasts me a few days. not sure what to do?
what we wonder if the pesticide load on ginger? i know that some things (like onions) are considered lowest on the pesticide list... hence my wondering about ginger. i can't even find it on any lists.
we are 100% organic on all our juices (except the tomatoes as they are too expensive to have organic)... so it's really all about weighing and deciding what is more beneficial...

that might be worth growing your own. Grind and dehydrate to store it.

I try but I can't get anything to grow. I tried herbs inside the cats just eat them or destroy them. That is one thing I never really paid attention to. I just bought ginger.
I get mine through Azure Standard (dot com) and it's $5.95 per pound for organic. *Ü*

I always buy the conventional. There is no way I could afford a lot of organic ginger, and I feel the benefits of ginger still outweigh not having it at all. *shrug*

I agree climbing! I'm not able to buy everything organic (that would be dreamy!), and I figure like you do on the non-organics!

i would think that the pesticide load and danger is also going to depend on where its grown... i just dont buy ginger at the moment as organic isnt available except an hours drive away, and i think most of the conventional ginger we get here comes from china. im not really comfortable using grown-in-china non-organic root crops. though i dont know if theres any guarantee that grown-in-china organic root crops are truly a whole lot better.

I envy you all for being able to eat plenty of ginger. I'd love too and especially love Dan the Man's Lemon Ginger Blast, but ginger is way too potent for me as I have a warm constitution and can make me ill.
Enjoy your ginger. It tastes great!
