I found this site while looking into raw vegan. I went vegan two years ago this spring. The more I discover about going raw, the more it makes sense. So now I'm just trying to figure out how to make the transition. I have a business trip coming up next week so I won't be trying it for two weeks or so.

I'm a guy who is 5' 11" and weighs about 155 lbs and I'm over 35. I do strength and cardio training regularly. So why am I going raw? It's about eating clean. When I went vegan, I had a feeling of clean, calm and clarity. Now I want to "take it to the next level" as they say in sports. I think raw is that level.

Right now, I'm just trying to figure out how to make the jump. How did people start and what is everyone doing now. As you can see, I don't weigh a lot for my height but I would like to reduce bodyfat percentage and increase (at least not lose) muscle. Not sure what a guy my age can do but I have seen Storm Talifaro on www.TheGardenDiet.com and some other long term raw vegans. Inspirational stories right there!

That's it for now.

Yayyy -- another New Yorker!

Just wanted to say hi and welcome. Alissa's books and DVDs have lots of good information on starting raw. There's also lots of great information and support here on this site. You can also see lots of how-to videos of people preparing raw dishes (from simple to gourmet) on youtube.

Basically how I started was just jumping in and figuring it out as I went along. There's no right or wrong way to do it, just experiment and have fun and enjoy the journey!

You'll find you'll probably need a blender and a food processor to start.

Anyhow.... welcome!

It's really easy to start, especially if you keep it simple at first. I started by fasting to overcome cooked food addictions; simple raw foods taste amazing after fasting!
