vitamix 1723?

hello, all.

does anybody know know what the differences are between the vitamix 1723 (featured on amazon) and the 5200 series that seems to be recommended on this site? for make soup, smoothies and grinding grains/seeds/nuts, what is my best vitamix option under $600? thanks!

I only paid $380 for my 5200. They had it on sale with 3 payments. Look on QVC the have them for under $400. They also have refurbished ones on there site. Take the time to shop for the best deal.

The 5200 and the Professional 200 are to my understanding both the same. The cookbook is a little different though. Williams Sonoma had a 25% off promotion before Christmas that included the Professional 200 and 500 series that was very nice. Santa brought me the 500. I can't say if they will offer that again but it is worth keeping an eye out for. If you call Vitamix they will gladly explain the difference.
