I would love to read some examples of a full days meals for kids around 5 & 15mo. Just so I can get a handle on if I am either starving my kids or feeding them too much. I tend to follow the eat when you are hungry but the volume is so different raw vs cooked it can be a bit worrying!
Cheers!

We don't really do "meals" but any and everything we eat are considered meals if it makes you full/satiated.
For my 2 1/2 year old:
Morning: 2 6 oz. cups full of green smoothie (sometimes 2 1/2 or 3 cups if he asks for more!) that usually contains 2 bananas, an apple, 1/4 c. sesame seeds, 4 or 5 large strawberries and a nice handful of greens (parsley, spinach or kale)
Mid-morning snacking: a bowl of raw oatmeal; some fruit (maybe an apple or some grapes, etc.)
Afternoon: he'll randomly ask for more fruit, some cashews, crackers, or more smoothie...sometimes he'll ask me to make him ice cream
Evening: either salad and more fruit or if I prepare a raw meal he'll eat that or he may want more oatmeal or some apples and bananas with almond butter. An example of raw prepared meals I make are zucchini pasta and sauce or the enchilada or stir-dried veggies.
He usually wants a snack later on and that may be fruit, cookies/crackers if I have some made or spinach w/dressing.
He is also randomly nursing throughout the day as well. He's a thick, solid boy and very happy and energetic and LOVES to eat! :D

We don't have "regular meals" around here either. We made a special shelf in the refrigerator and our 2yr, 2month, grandson goes there and picks out what he wants, or goes to the counter where the fruit bowl is, or to the pantry where the nuts and Lara bars are.
A day for Bryson would look something like this:
Soon after arising (if he didn't nurse) a Smoothie - fruits with spinach
Later in the morning - raisins (organic & sundried) & water
Lunch - Big bowl of grapes
Snack - Lara Bar
Dinner time - a whole cucumber
Then he basically will snack on:
a carrot
some lettuce out of our salads
maybe another smoothie
He does eat a lot now, although there was a period where he didn't eat much. I guess they know what their little bodies need. He also didn't start to eat until he was 11 months old. At 5 months we did offer him mashed bananas and later some mashed avocado. Periodically we would offer some type of mashed fruits but he wasn't interested in eating until he was 11 months old.

Rawkinlocs,
What a handsome young man, I mean (like others have said) he glows, and that beautiful smile, what a sweetie, I just love kids, they are so "real".

Thanks everyone!! Yes, he's my little joy-boy as he is hilariously funny and will definitely make you smile or laugh :)
Eachpearplum...I just wanted to show that he's a raw baby who doesn't look emaciated like people tend to expect our raw children to look! Just like many of the children I've seen posted here...truthseeker's kids are gorgeous...rawveganmom's daughter...and others (sorry, can't name everyone) just look like what our society feels are "healthy-looking" kids.
Helen, sounds like Bryson likes to eat too! :D
Eachpearplum, what does your kids' current daily food intake look like?

some days my son eats more and some days he eats less but here is a typical day....
upon arising... 12 oz green smoothie (bananas, strawberries, spinach, fresh ground flax seed, orange juice)
later on in a.m. and for remainder of morning - freshly made almond or sesame seed milk (bananas, carob, distilled water, almonds or sesame seeds, honey)
lunch or early afternoon - 8 oz veggie juice, sometimes fruit also
later on - another 8 oz veggie juice
dinner - green smoothie or plate of veggies
snack - fruit of some sort
Sometimes he does get a cooked thing here and there but overall he is high raw or all raw all the time. Oh he is 3 years old and at the top of the chart for heighth and weight growth and getting bigger all of the time.
Hope that helps :) I just let him basically eat when he is hungry.

Hi Rawkinlocs,
Yes, Bryson sure can pack away the food. Like your son, Bryson looks very "filled" out. I posted his picture on another thread here that someone started just for photos. He and his mom are hamming it up for me :D
By the way, do you know how to make the photo smaller? I'll gladly fix it, or if you know how, would you shrink it down a bit? Thanks.

Tee hee...thanks Each.
So, how's it coming with feeding your little one? Have you found a comfortable, happy medium where you're not concerned with over or underfeeding?

Yes very much so. I basically give them what they want. It was very reasuring to read what other feed thier kids. Just like us they hit that "full" wall and are done with a much smaller qty. and I feel good about that. As they are not 100% yet when they do eat cooked they are always hungry soon after even if they a big meal. Yesterday my daughter ate a very lite salady dinner and said "thanks, this was really good" I nearly fainted as raw veg & salads are a new thing for her and she is not been thrilled yet by the raw veg.
thanks for the support :p
