Hey all. First time poster here. I'm an almost 50 year old guy. A week ago I watched Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead. I became interested in a juice fast - 30 days was what I was thinking. 5 days ago I started prepping for the fast by mixing raw with the SAD. 2 smoothies per day. Today was my first full day. I have had literally about 90 ounces of smoothie - about half of which was ice / water. I also drank 5 cups of additional water so far. I weigh 282 pounds. My caloric intake today is under 1000 calories so far. I don't mind the taste of the smoothies - at least not as bad as I thought they would be. But I don't know if I can drink yet another one today. I'm afraid of not getting enough calories, but I also happen to be really hungry.
In my smoothies ( more than one kind ) today, I have had:
Apples, Bananas, Kale, Spinach, Cukes, Strawberrries, Blackberries, and some cilantro.
I am just about to go to my basement and work out, mostly on a heavy bag.... and maybe some treadmill. And I am just about RAVENOUS.
Thoughts?

You can increase your bananas in your smoothies. I usually have three in a smoothie myself.
You can also add an avocado into it. It'll make it extra smooth...
And remember... calories don't matter, it's all about health. So if you are hungry... drink another smoothie. If not, don't.
Welcome!!!

Thanks for the welcome.... I left out one HUGE detail.... I am diabetic, so I worry about too much fruit.

I have heard many success stories of diabetics turning it around with diet..... I know that someone more versed in the how's and what's can give you a more definitive answer but fruits and veggies are what your body needs. I only have issues with kidney stones but no problems whatsoever since raw. :)

My dad, who's is diabetic and has congestive heart disease, refuses to make the connection of diet and quality of life.... At least you're open to it. Good for you!

It takes 3-4 days to get that out of your system. I swear they put stuff in our food (junk food) to make people crave it. By then Your body will be begging you for the greens. Just hang in there you can do it. My first raw inspiration was a video on Dave the raw food trucker. His story is great. Look him up.
Try some chia seeds in your smoothie they are soo good.

I go by what my bodies craving. I used to be in the pre-diabetic range now Im not. I eat lots of fruits. When I eat the fruits my body doesn't crave crappy sugars. I do mostly limit it to the morning. I listen to my body. I usually have green stuff in the afternoon and evenings. I couln't live without fruit.
