I have been on the SAD diet for my whole life with the exception of being a vegetarian for about 6 months, 10 years ago. I have done a bit of research on a raw vegan diet and have decided to make that about 90 percent of my diet. I am really not sure how my body will react to this. Should I jump right in or transition? Would anyone mind sharing their personal experiences in their first couple of days, weeks, months of raw? Thank you. :)

My recommendation is to jump right in. I have always felt fabulous with the exception of a couple of days worth of headaches and sometimes looser BMs.

My first 4-5 days were detox and withdrawls from sugar but after that I didn't think about it anymore. Carry raw snacks with you. Get a "raw" version of your favorite junk food so you don't feel deprived. I usually grab bananna or apple. If I got a sweet craving I ate bananna with honey all over it.There will be detox sypmptoms depending what you are eating. I had alot of green juice so about 7 - 8days I threw up a bunch of mucous and then I felt sooo good. Like that was the toxic release. Dates are great sweet treats. Almond butter and honey is my favorite dip for veggies. Easy to make. Have many cut up veggies prepared so You can just grab them. There are many websites you can order raw treats from. I think the more greens you get in the better youll feel the more youll continue to do it.Welcome and good luck.

Tracy, thank you! I am not looking forward to the detox, but it seems to be a necessary evil. My boyfriend smokes like a chimney in his house and I am loaded with 45 years worth of dead food. I know this is going to probably be a rough couple of weeks, but hopefully not too horrible. Thanks for the almond butter advice. I love almond butter and found that buying it from Whole Foods in the bulk section is really a much better deal than the almond butters in the jar at Kroger. I'm also a bit nervous as I have a really obsessive/compulsive personality. In the past, I have jumped into a new way of eating or an exercise plan and became obsessed and consumed to the point that that was all I thought about 24/7, and got so saturated that I burned out. My health is getting really bad and there is a chance that I am pregnant, so more than vanity is riding on this. I am praying that I will approach this with some balance! If felt so good for the 6 months that I was a vegetarian years ago, and experimented on 12/22 with a "raw day." I felt really good and was barely hungry all day. We shall see if my brain tries to kill me. LOL!

." . We shall see if my brain tries to kill me. LOL! My brain does it too. Tell yourself I am going to stay raw for this whole day. Once you get that raw energy youll be addicted.

there is a chance that I am pregnant!
Find out first if you are pregnant or not. Natalia Rose writes a fair amount about pregnancy and is very clear that it is *not the time to do any kind of strict detox diet.

If you're gonna go 90% you may as well just jump in and go the full 100%. That extra 10% of cooked food is gonna cause you to continue to crave cooked food.
I also noticed the more green juice and green smoothies I drank, the more I craved the raw diet. It became something my tongue craved, but also my body screamed out for it. It is complete euphoria the way it feels to feed my body green nutrition, it absolutely loves it.
