PLEASE... feel free to join this thread any time ... we loooove having new friends to fast with!!!

Here's are the 'rules' of this thread:

Please do not discuss specific food. Feel free to share "My hubby was eating and it was hard for me." Please don't share "My hubby was eating X, Y and Z..."

The reason we do this is so no one ends up getting a craving from a fasting thread. As a faster we can choose to click on a thread which discusses food but we need the safety within this thread to know food is not discussed. Juices are shared, M/C is shared, green smoothie recipes are shared... but not 'chewable' food.

Please join us... by listening to our theme song (http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=2539741). We all come together... from around the world to fast together and support each other. Please join us!

There is a great deal of info in this stickie (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=62026). Please take a moment to read it.

And here is a thread (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=61603) where we share our favourite recipes. If you haven't contributed yours, please do!

Here's my commitment (when I'm fasting):

I'm here to fast. I'm not here to eat. I will fast until I choose to stop but I will NOT stop my fast on a bad day, at night or today. I can choose to break my fast tomorrow in the morning but not today.

I'm here to gain health.
I'm here to gift my body the time and energy to bring my body to a state of health.
I'm here to release - whatever needs to be released. Physical, emotional, conscious or unconscious out-moded things... I'm here to release them all.
I'm here to bring a greater depth to my spirituality.
I'm here to support myself and others.
I am here to continue to be mindful - focusing on this moment and not anticipating the next one.
I am here to share my experience and gain knowledge from what others share.
I'm here to feel whole. I'm here to give my beautiful, cherished body a break from digesting food!!!

This is the "Fellowship of the Fasters" - unlike the LOTRs fellowship of nine, we are a fellowship of many. We welcome newcomers daily and embrace everyone no matter what they are fasting on or their personal beliefs.

Yes you can prefer green juices to fruit. Yes you can use agave instead of maple syrup or raw honey. Yes you can juice in your Vita-Mix and use a nut mylk bag to extract your juices.

We don't care how you fast... we want to support you... and in turn, we ourselves get supported... so please... join us!!!

Come on everyone.. join in the fun and grab your Elf, Dwarf, Hobbit or Human names for our "Fellowship of the Fasters"... you just make them up, it isn't from the book/movie. (if you want to participate) and put it in your signature line!

Ever wonder how the Fellowship began?

Back when I first began fasting there were the Fasting Bandits. This was a group of amazing people who fasted together all the time. The 'theme' was a convoy of truckers. I was the water tanker! :throwhearts: Over time the Fasting Bandits moved on with their lives and weren't around much at all. A few of the members are still here... but seldom fasting anymore.

I was missing the camaraderie of the FB and was always hoping to find a new group to fast with, find support with and to support myself. The Fellowship of Fasters began because Cathy and I watch the movie Lord of the Rings a LOT and we fast together a LOT as well. We began speaking to each other as though we were Golum - and our juice was our precious.

And then the Fellowship of Fasters was born!

So to be a member... you simply need to choose a name, put it in your signature line and love fasting. You can become a life-time member or one for a short time... it's up to you.

I'm here for the long haul. My water tanker is here beside me - because I'll always be a Fasting Bandit... but now my precious walks beside on a slower path than the truckers... enjoying the grass at my feet and the flowers growing out of the cracks and crevices in the rocks around me.

I want to but I need a little help. My coworkers and I are doing juicing January. Ive done 24 hours and dreamed of doing a month long fast. What would be a great way to prepare mentally and in the kitchen. Im hoping with the support here I can make it further and further each week.

I'll be starting on New Year's Day and plan to go at least 3 days. I'm following a great ND and expert herbalist and have been able to improve my thyroid/adrenals/pituitary and am getting my lymphatic system cleaned out using his herbals. He's a big fan of doing 3 day water fasts. I can do 1 day okay but will be doing mostly juice fasting at this point. I can use fruit now (my diet is mostly fruit and very low fat), so this week I'm drinking apple/carrot/cranberry/celery juice to work back into fasting mode!

I'm thinking I am just going to start with water and see were that leads me.... It will at least give me time to think about which juices sound good...

I'm in!!! I don't know if I can last the whole month, but I really wanna try. I have been preparing myself mentally all week and I will start feasting today....no time like the present. I think i will do feasting to include Smoothie then move over to do juicing. I do like the Master Cleanser, but I'm in this for a longer time and I think I can last longer if I'm feasting and juicing. Aleesha, I'm a little nervous becuz when i move over to juicing, I don't really know exactly how much juice I need to drink. I love Kombucha and Coconut Water and would like to include those. I also am making tons of Rejuvelac and will be including that too.

I really need support so I'm glad this thread is here!

Hey Renee.... I'm starting today as well... I would say to drink as much juice as you feel you want/need. When I'm juice feasting I can drink between 4-6 qt. a day!!

So far this morning I've had some barley green (like wheat grass) and water with lemon juice..

Cathy :throwhearts:

ReneeH
12-28-2011, 09:19 AM
Thx Cathy! That's SO cool...starting together!!!! You're one of the super pro's, so I'm glad I can hold your hand!!! :) I know that some juice has high calories, that's why I'm questioning how much. What yiu said makes sense, though... I think that's why I've stayed away from juicing too much.

I'm gonna have my first Smoothie in a couple of hours. I'm not hungry yet. I don't know...I guess I shouldn't let myself get hungry though, huh???

Aleesha Sattva
12-28-2011, 12:01 PM
Renee fasting isn't about calories so let go of that. It's about hydration, detox, meditation, loving yourself, giving your body a rest...

Drink as much or as little as you need/want in the moment. Sometimes I drink a small glass and other times I drink two liters in on sitting.

Feed your body all those gorgeous nutrients and it will thank you!!!

I'm in classes all week and am eager to join you all in a week!!!

Cathy - I love you. I love fasting with you. It's such an honour.

Thanks Aleesha! I'll keep that in mind. So far I've had the most delicious Smoothie!!! I didn't realize how great Spinach tastes with Pineapple! I'm getting hungry for some Tomato juice, but I think I'll save that for dinner tonight. I've been in the bed resting and meditating a few hours.

ReneeH
12-28-2011, 02:44 PM
Ok...I've got a concern. I've got to work my raw business tonight and I'm worried about staying on my fast and having to prepare raw meals. That's why I chose to Feast in the beginning. It's only my first day--which is going great by the way--but I've been wanting to fast for a while now and I'm concerned because I don't want to fall on my very first day!!!

I guess I'll just do the best I can and not to taste too much. I think I'll sip on a Smoothie while I work. Maybe that'll help.

GoodCat
12-28-2011, 03:22 PM
Definately sip on a smoothie!! That way you'll have something to "eat" too...

All I really have had today is carrot/celery with barley green. I am soooooo wanting a tomato/veggie juice tonight though... Can't wait.

I only got about 5 hours of sleep last night, I've been very busy today with chores, and I have to go out tonight. I have a little headache and I really just want to take a bath and go to bed, but all is good still.... I love fasting.. If only a day or many days, a fast is always so rewarding..

Hi all! Well, I'm back from my professional kitchen! I did pretty good! There were a few dishes that I had to taste to make sure they were ok, but I'm totally not stopping my fast! I only work on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, so I'll just do the best that I can on those days.

Looking forward to day 2 tomorrow! Nighty night all!!!

Good morning everyone!!!!

I've just bounced out of bed feeling light and energetic!!! Ready for another feasting day!!! I must say, having my Tomato Juice in the evening was SUCH a treat! I'm actually looking forward to repeating it tonight! I actually ate it with a spoon, so I felt like it was a soup even though it was juice.

I'm glad to know I don't have to worry about too many calories in the juice! I feel like Carrot Apple juice today...maybe with a pinch of Cayenne! Yummm! I can't wait to hear what you're having Lady!

Carrot /apple, Pineapple spinach, and COllards, celery, apples and lemon. This should do it until I get home. Thinking about getting some tomatoes. I really don't see organic tomatoes unless I go to WF. I'm Feeling great so far.Enjoy your day ladies.

Today so far I've only had some carrot/celery with barley green and a qt. of water with lemon juice. I do have some yummy juice in the refrigerator waiting for me though.. Its cranberry, apple, orange, red bell pepper, and cucumber!! Its very good.. I also have a little tomato/veggie juice blend left over from last night ( I know right)..

I am in . I have been slacking due to my leg pain getting worst, especially my knees locking up and swelling on me where I started to emotionally eat SAD out of self-pity. But I want to go Smoothie feast 100%, because various people on Youtube said that their illness went away from being Raw, plus losing weight. I was in so much pain with my leg that even a relative who thought Raw was extreme before, wants me to do it in order to make my leg feel better, because if my leg keeps on giving me pain, I will have to quit my job. My job forces me to stand and/or walk 5 to 8 hours straight in a day. So I can't afford to quit due to my physical pain issues. So at least I know have emotional support to try to lose was much weight as I can Raw so my knee joints can heal. So no excuses in 2012.

Hi Raw Angel Mom! I started my fast today, too. I'm juice fasting for now.

I probably couldn't replicate the juice I made again if I tried... I kind of threw in everything but the kitchen sink and added some onion, garlic and chipoltle powders to it. The after taste is like a certain SAD food that I don't even eat anymore and I won't mention since this is a fasting thread, but it is great! I guess I need to remember just what I put in it and how much! :wow:

I'm getting ready to go shopping with a good friend today. She wants some girl time and asked me to go with her while she

Hi Daniela,

I'm glad you're fasting today, too. I've never tried maca powder before. You'll have to tell us what it's like.

I've never done wheatgrass, either, other than in the dried green superfood powder form. I've heard it's pretty stout by itself, but also has a lot of great stuff in it! I once watched a woman down 2 shots of it without batting an eye. I was impressed! lol!

I've had a fantastic fasting day! I enjoyed my little shopping trip today with my GF. All I bought was a
new pr of tennis shoes and my gift card covered most of that. She got some new clothes and we mostly just walked around and talked. She ate lunch and I just sat and we chatted. She was afraid it would bother me for her to eat in front of me, but I assured her it wouldn't... And it didn't. I have to sit and watch hubby eat in front of me whenever I fast, so I'm use to it.

I made another mega veggie juice (tomatoes, carrots, celery, romaine, sweet potato, ginger) and am using Aleesha's trick of warming it just a little bit. Then I'm gonna eat it like soup. Later I'll have some grapefruit, orange, apple juice. I'm gonna try to stay up late to welcome in the new year so I'll
probably be drinking my herbal (rooibos and heal all) tea to stay full and warm and to calm me before bedtime.

Everyone have a Happy New Year's Eve!

Aleesha Sattva

I have some roobis that I plan on trying in the next day or two... I thought it had caffeine in it??? Obviously I must be wrong if you have it before bed LOL

missyc
12-31-2011, 04:47 PM
Nope, no caffeine in it! I don't do caffeine. I was getting it in tea bags, but then found it at the same place I get my herbs
from in bulk so I have it that way now. So love it w/ a little stevia in. Here's some info on it:

Contains similar amounts of polyphenols and has been shown to be anti-carcinogenic, anti-mutagenic, anti-inflammatory and anti-viral activity.
Naturally caffeine-free so is ideal for people who want to cut back on caffeine or want to drink it before going to bed. Actually it’s recommended you drink it before going to bed as it can help with insomnia. It’s also very low in tannins.
Contains calcium, manganese and fluoride to help build strong teeth and bones.
Can be given to infants suffering from colic, sleeping problems or stomach cramps. Simply add some milk to the tea.
Contains alpha hydroxy acid and zinc which is great for the skin. You can even apply it directly to the skin to help with acne, eczema and sunburn etc.
People with kidney stones can drink it because there’s no oxalic acid.
Full of vitamins and minerals such as zinc, copper, calcium, manganese, magnesium, potassium.

Happy New Year everyone!

I started my fast yesterday as i mentioned. Yesterday, i had to discipline my thought and intention from my mind. I am glad i resisted and stick with the fast. I am already seeing great deal of detox already. I had a minor headache yesterday, and today i had to remind myself to take deep breath before getting up. I wasn't too hungry, i just drank water when i would think of eating and it did the trick. Today, is another day and it should be excited.

Have a wonderful fast and may all of your goals and dream come true and more

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I took a nap and then woke up for a couple of hours to welcome in the new year. Then I went back to bed and slept pretty good. I walked this morning and just finished my veggie "soup" juice. I got hungry last night so I ended up drinking quite a bit
of tea to keep the hunger at bay. It worked quite well.

We have another mild day here before it turns much colder for most of the week. I will enjoy the warmth while it's here!

Have a wonderful day, fasters!

Okay I started my fast on Dec. 26 the day after Christmas and it has gone great. I've lost 14.1 lbs in 6 days so I'm really excited. The hardest part is that my wife and 5 yo son are still eating as usual and I'll tell you preparing a meal for my son is not easy. This thread was an awesome idea an I've enjoyed reading it. That is one of the things that i am wanting to experience Aleesha. I started this fast not knowing how many days i was going to aim for, i thought i would just take day by day and let my body tell me. Today makes day 6 and so far so good. Had some serious detox yesterday...nausea, diarrhea, dizziness and weak that would come and go and major chills. The last few days i have felt a calm peaceful feeling. Last night while looking up information on fasting i stumbled on this website http://healthrecipes.com/fast21.htm, At the bottom of this article are other article links in red that are really good reads also! . I was really encouraged by the information and i am going to really try and aim for 30 days. I am doing this fast for healing, health and spiritual reasons. I am hoping to not get too skinny, 5-10 pounds are ok but anything under that i would look anorexic lol. I can always gain back healthy weight. :eat

Really looking forward to experiencing what everyone raves about juice fasting!

Have a great day everyone...... Cheers!

Deep spirituality and healing takes place after 21 days. You can do this! You are going to LOVE what you discover beyond 21 days. (((hugs)))
So just 14 days to get to 21. I hope I can handle it. What's the longest you have gone?

I'm having a good Day #2 of my fast. It looks like everyone is doing well on their fasts, too!

The only detox I'm having is some achiness in my back/kidney area. Doing fine otherwise.

We went to the store and I stocked up on more produce. Of all weeks, hubby decides he's gonna eat more of the things that I don't really want to be around! But he'll just have to keep it away from me! He's good about preparing his own stuff, so that helps a lot.

Hi Everyone! Happy New Year!
I'd like to join you all on a juice fasting retreat - to that end, does anyone know where you can get calories information on fresh juices? Everyone I have looked either gives the calories for the whole apple, carrot, etc (not just the juice) or they give the "canned juice" values. What's the right way to calculate daily calories? I want to make sure I take in enough -
Thanks!!

tangovera- I'm not sure how to calculate the juice calories very accurately. I'd say to just as much as your body wants. Don't force it when it doesn't want it and don't withhold it when it does. What our brains think we need and what our bodies actually do need are not always the same. Just enjoy the fast/feast and worry about calories when you go back to eating again. JMHO, of course. Others may feel differently.

janem- Welcome back to fasting.

Day #3 for me. I'm having an easy time of it so far. I was cold when I first went to bed last night, but once I got warm, I was fine and slept great. I'm taking a break from my kickboxing and weight training while I fast so my body can rest. I use to try to push myself to keep doing light workouts, at least, but this time I am going to rest more and not do anything other than a little walking.

Good morning everyone, this is my third day on water fasting.

Yesterday, i woke up on slow motion but then through the day i had so much energy. I am like other moms, i had to look after my family's food. So since i had energy, i made all kind of raw gourmet treat for my daughter and husband, so they will be good for a while. I will make more today. I crossed my finger that it would taste good because i don't measure and this time i couldn't taste. I had to redirect my thought when i would see fruits, believe it or not this is the only food that i crave BUT i would simply drink water and remind myself why i am doing this water fast. It was challenging and i had to work really hard, but this morning, i am so so happy that i continue with the water fast. I woke up again on slow motion but after an enema, i feel energized again. I am definitely detoxing just by the look and smell of my urine but this is all good i want that stuff out.

I would love to do 21 days but i don't make promise, my goal is one week and if i see i am not done with detoxing, i might continue further more then 7 days. For sure, i will continue with a juice fast not matter what i decide after my water fast.

I will incorporate yoga during this fast, i have a few dvd and i will do this in the morning and maybe night.

All the best to all of you!

p.s For the question about calorie, you need to go with energy. Meaning, if you go to a fast food, you will have plenty of calori but no energy. Juicing is filled with energy and live food. Don't worry, you will be great. Your digestive system will be grateful that you are doing this juice fast.

I had to restart my fast so today is officially day 1 of my fast. I'm in good spirits and feeling a lot less drained than i expected.
I'm weighing in for the first time in a while tomorrow so this should be interesting.
I want to fast for a minimum of a month and see how we go after that.
I had a yummy juice for lunch/ dinner which consisted of carrot, tomato, parsnip, potato, celery, pepper and garlic. I added a little chilli powder and a bit of salt and turned it into a type of soup thing which was YUM!
Already have so much enthusiasm and energy for this fast.
Hope everyone else had an excellent new year :D

My day is going well. No cravings and very little hunger. I have done a repeat of yesterday with juice for breakfast and then only water, tea and lemonade thru the day. I'll have juice again tonight.
Tomorrow will be back to work for me. I feel happy with how well I've done this weekend. When I fasted before, weekends were always a challenge for me because I had easier access to food.
This time it has been a breeze.

I am looking forward to continuing at least thru the week. I'm so happy my thyroid is so much better
than it was last year. It is making a huge difference!:throwhearts:

I like to make my own lemonade with fresh squeezed lemon juice, stevia and water. On days when I don't feel like drinking water, I have some of that. It is more "interesting" that plain water and makes it easier. For the most part, though, I am a good water drinker! I'm so use to drinking it that it's second nature.

Have you fasted before? I'm just asking because going from a water fast to a juice fast can sometimes restart your digestion. If you are a water fasting pro though... ignore me. LOL

Otherwise one day on water and then water and juice on day two and onwards may work better for ya.

Parz and I are so excited about our fasts. We are pondering the idea of continuing our fast until we leave for the Bahamas at the end of Feb. but we'll take this fast one day at a time and not fast forward ourselves to anything. I am soooooo wanting a nice long fast though. ***the precious is calling to me... I can here her***

Hello all!

Just registered after looking for a good forum for support.

I'm on my third day of my water fast and plan to go for thirty (Feb. 1st). I will do water fast for a week, juice for a week, water for a week, then juice again. Focus on green juices during the juice weeks.

I've done several fourteen and twenty-one days fasts so I am excited to see how I feel with thirty days. Been raw vegan for two years now but I have been traveling for the past eight months and just returned to Canada. I was in some third world countries and some very polluted developed countries working on non-organic fruit farms and my body is feeling it! It's been begging to have a good clean out and now's the time since I don't start work until february.

I am drinking herbal tea for the first few days in additional to three to four litres of water. Starting tomorrow no more herbal teas as well.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on here! Thanks for being around!

Oh Aleesha, without doubt, i am drinking water, lol..... love it

So cool to see that i am not the only one doing a water fast, i am so thrill. Wow 30 days, not sure i will go that far but i am definitely doing my 1 week water fast and maybe longer. I will see where it goes, but i will continue with juice fast after.

I am on my fourth day water fast. Yesterday i had energy. This water fast is easier physically then my last one, but more challenging emotionally. The first three days, you are hungry and yesterday, i had to redirect my thought again ( I had to do grocery for my family and to prepare food). My desire to heal is stronger then the discomfort that it brings emotionally. I was on the verge to brake my fast but i managed. Before i went to bed, i was so happy that i hold on. This morning, i am feeling great and so happy. I think today my body will switch to a different level now and will go speedo with detox. This is what happened in my last fast.

Anyway. All the best with your fast

WOW!! So many great participants!! Looks like many of you are experienced faster - WTG! I am on day 2 of my fast - not sure what kind - I usually do a green juice fast but the idea of water fasting is enticing! I drank green juice yesterday and enjoyed fresh grapefruit juice in the evening. I am looking for a deeper fast this time so I would like to limit my sweetfruit juice as much as I can. I was lucky enough to get the Super Angel juicer for Christmas. I cant say enough good things about it!
As far as energy etc - this being the early part of my fast I am experiencing the usual low blood sugar headache today. I did enjoy a nice 5 mile run this morning:)
Yesterday energy was fine - habitual eating was a bit cumbersome - I was wanting to chew in the evening - i know this will subside.
Keep up the great work everyone!

OH MY GOSH it feels like forever since I was fasting. It feels soooooo good to be in my body right now!

So, it's Day One of our fast!!! We had a beautiful cantaloupe/mint/apple juice. Made a nice apple (mixed types), kiwi, orange, mint for later! mmmmmm we are both so INTO this fast!

We weighted ourselves. Not too pleased (about my weight) as my year of ending my marriage, supporting my children through it, finding myself, starting a new relationship etc etc has taken it's toll on me but... that's behind me now. I'm here to do this and find my health again. *grinning*

Afternoon everyone!

Day three is going well, still doing some herbal teas (mostly mint with some jasmine, all fresh loose leaf). Tomorrow will be the start of four days on purely water. Day eight will be the beginning of juice is I desire it, if not I will go another three days on only water.

It seems I may be moving to my new city and beginning my new job sooner than expected, still up in the air. Will be full time cashier work which will be physically demanding at times and require good concentration. If I begin this job soon I will go to juice right away (heavily diluted for a few days) and have it with me to sip throughout the day. I will not break the fast for the reason however.

From now on for this thread I will post what I am grateful for during this fast and in general life.

Day Three - I am grateful for:

- The constant support of my husband even though he is overseas and will for possibly another year
- The support of my mother, step-father, and sister to regain my health and vitality in this way
- For being in Canada and having the opportunity to start my life here and prepare for when hubby arrives for the first time
- For getting this job opportunity just when I felt like nothing was going to turn up
- For having such a strong body
- For the option to go in any direction

Keep having an awesome day everyone!

Love reading all the progress on this board, it is so motivating and inspiring.

My day 4th water fast went well, in term of energy i was fine and i had more then i thought. I was a little on slow motion at some part of the day but i managed it.

I did have craving again but also because i am around food, the good news the craving were nothing and very manageable. It was easy this time to redirect my thought. What is helping is that i know that i went that far so no excuse to back up. I didn't get a chance to give myself an enema but i will try in the morning if my daughter won't wake up too early.

Ok day 5 water fast for me, i am feeling totally normal and like i am not fasting at all so far. I have energy not necessary more then usual but i feel totally great. I did my enema this morning and i was very happy about this. I am trying to book a colonic for tomorrow and Friday.

I think my first time i was detoxing my 29 years of second hand smoking from others. I had short breath etc... it was hard to use the stairs. I know my last fast on the fifth day, i was aching all over my body like i had the flu and it was hard to be comfortable to sleep at night. My kidney couldn't keep up to release the toxin. I will see how the rest of the day goes, but so far, i am very happy that i hold on.

Wishing you a wonderful day and powerful result easily and effortless

hahahahaha yup that's us drinking our cantaloupe/mint juice. we don't have glasses, just jars. i've been like that for years. i drink out of pottery cups with no handles for hot stuff. *rule breaker* LOL

here's a pic from this morning. i woke up to my gorgeous man making juice. his first time ever! it was lovely.

apple (varieties)
mint
parsley
celery
orange (to slow oxidation of apples)
kale - lots of kale. (varieties)

When I woke up earlier this morning I felt like crap. He felt amazing. So he got up and made juice while I slept a little. When I got up I felt much better. "Fasting dreams" haven't started yet but I'm sure they will soon enough. LOL

Good morning everyone, it is 5:46am here. I woke up at 3am to go to the bathroom and i didn't manage to fall asleep. I feel wonderful, peaceful and relax. I am noticing my short of breath a little but not intense, just mild.

Yesterday, i kept busy all day, cleaning, organizing the house, making food for the family, finishing the laundry etc... So water fasting isn't an issue for me this time to be functional. It looks like i will continue the water fast beyond 7 days.

I am receiving friends and their children this Saturday for a late Christmas diner. I am not worry and i have it all plan, i won't brake my fast for that. It is always a great practice to follow our heart and to inspire others to be tolerant when someone make different choice. I will tell the detail after the day.

I managed to book a colon therapy tomorrow, i am hoping that i won't see those parasites again like after my last 7 days fasting. I heard they have 3 weeks cycle. So if i could manage to do a three weeks water fast, it would be great. I don't make promise and i will take one day at the time after my 7 days. If hunger kick in, i read it is time to brake the fast. I was off this week, but next week i will be working. I will see how it goes.

All the best to all of you!

I noticed this morning that my tongue was starting to coat a little bit.
Felt kind of lethargic this morning but pushed myself to work out for 30 mins
Will do some more later. Aiming for another hour later.
Also, I just felt my face and its becoming really smooth, I've had problems with eczema (sp?) in the past so it was slightly rough.
Feeling cold all the time though.
Having my tropical juice this morning with some added apples, celery and cucumber to it.
What juice to have tonight?
Any recommendations?

Yeah We are all moving along nicely. I finished day 2 starting day 3

:)) I am so proud. I really struggled in the afternoon and making dinner for my kids. I mad Aleesha's tomatoe juice I sat with them and drank it why they ate. It was so satisfying. Day three feeling my stomach grumble. I got my coop box and made juice with Collard greens, daikon radish, celery, apple, lemon. Hope its good. I also have carrot orange for breakfast. I usually only like the green juices but during the fast I LOVE the fruit juices. Im a little tired today Hopefully I ll wake up soon. Sleeping and crazy dreaming. Happy Fasting My Friends.

Detoxing. Im dot really feeling detox syptoms yet. Should I change my juices. Any suggestion to get things going? I got the chlorella tablets. Or maybe Im supposed to feel good.

Day 4:

Went very well. Did have a few herbal teas though. I ended up needing to do about five hours of commuting for the new job in this freezing weather and I could not stop shivering even with piles of clothing. Still lots of water, about three litres. Some walking and stretching.

Day 5:

Today. Got 13 hours of serene and cozy sleep beside my kitty. Just water so far. Going out in a few hours for grocery shopping, will stock up for juice fast in a few more days.

Feeling great today, swelling pre-fast has gone down. Tounge is extremely coated, needed to scrape two-three times a day, terrible breath and fairly terrible body odour. Eyes are a bit red though, hoping that clears up soon.

Grateful for:

- the sweet smell of grapes
- a family willing to help me out
- the chance to move to a new city soon!

Wooo-hoooo -- just got back from the store, all stocked up now on my produce for a juice feast!

I got:
- oranges
- grapefruits
- apples
- carrots
- celery

All of which were VERY inexpensive and just exactly what my body's been craving: super simple juice. Like orange/grapefruit.... carrot/apple/ginger.... carrot/celery..... grapefruit/apple..... YUM!

I absolutely CANNOT WAIT to join you all and begin this fast tomorrow!

Hi everyone, Day #2 for me and I'm feeling terrible. Very nauseous and lethargic. My body must be starting to detox. Woke up at 5am and couldn't get back to sleep. So far not a great start to the day. Will make a simple carrot/apple/ginger for breakfast. Drinking a mild green tea at the moment - not sure if black/green teas are good/bad on a juice fast, will have to do some research.

Hi everyone, Day #2 for me and I'm feeling terrible. Very nauseous and lethargic. My body must be starting to detox. Woke up at 5am and couldn't get back to sleep.

I remember when I did my last juice fast that the second day was so horrible I couldn't get out of bed. It was worse than the worst hangover, the worst flu, the worst everything! I had a severe migraine, exhaustion and nausea. I think it was partly detox and partly caffeine withdrawal.

Just try to rest and know it will pass. If you're having caffeine withdrawal (sort of sounds like it) then the green tea will definately help ease the symptoms.

Looking forward to the ride :)

Maggie- May I ask why 63 days in particular? :) I'm always curious what makes us chose certain numbers.

Update on Day 5 for me:

Went out grocery shopping and hit the jackpot at the reduced racks. Got grapefruit, canteloupes and honeydew melons, huge bunches of kale, cucumber, romaine, and spinach. Few heads of celery. Lots and lots of oranges and a bushel of apples.

Now the tough part is doing three more water fast days before I start juicing up all these beauties!

I am toughing it out today, cravin warm teas. It's minus ten at the moment and the furnace isn't warming me like it usually does. I will get the big blankets out and heat up the hot water bottle to see if that helps, if not I will have some herbal tea (no sweentener, no caffiene). OR I'll just up the temperature of the water I'm drinkin haha the excuses..

Grateful for:

Being able to talk to hubby this morning
The wonderful employees stocking the reduced racks!

Great great day yesterday and today we have two major things happening. My son is in for surgery to get his 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed. Anyone who is inspired to pray, send Light, Reiki, energy etc. to him - all will be gratefully accepted with love. (((hugs)))

Second, Parz and I are off to get certified at BodyTalk Practitioners. It's taken us 6 weeks to do what most people take a year to do! We are so excited. So taking two tests, written and oral and we have to score 90% or higher to pass. *giddy*

We are taking some pineapple/apple/orange/kale/ginger juice with us to stimulate our minds!!!

looooooooving this fast!!!

Sending out some good energy for your son. May his surgery go well.
Did another hour of exercise so my total for today is 90mins
Its quite pleasing to see how much fitter i've gotten from even yesterday.
I was a little distracted earlier and tempted to quit. It is the boyfriend's birthday tomorrow.
He will be having a meal with his mum, I will be sticking to my juice.I'm also visiting my parents this weekend
My mum took the news i was juicing suprisingly well (although i told her i was only doing 5 days which may have been a little white lie)
however she is not knowledgeable about juice fasting so probably wont inform her i'm doing an extended fast.

Busy day for lots of fasters! I hope everyone having detox symptoms will find that they pass quickly.

I plan to break my fast late tomorrow. It's been a super week. My body temps are starting to drop so I don't want to put strain on my thyroid. But, it's definitely been pretty easy for me this go round and it reassures me that when I'm ready to fast again, it won't be bad at all.

May you all have a fabulous fasting journey no matter how long or short it may be.

The coating on your tongue is a sign that our are moving out the toxin. This is good news.

I am cold too when i fast, it is normal. I was even cold on july hot summer here when i was just doing raw food. It will normalize, you can take warm shower, dress more and crank the heat up.

Aleesha sending prayers for your son. I know how unpleasant it is.

FYI don't drink radish juice it makes you hungry like crazy.

I woke up at 3 am needing to drain the lymphatic system in my legs so I put them up the wall and massaged them for about 30 minutes. I just woke up to a voice saying drain your lymph system. Weird. I did and I feel better today. Ready to conquer the world. I only have tea and pineapple juice today and coconut water.

Im hoping the hunger will go away. I didn't wake up hungry so thats a good start to my day 4.

My tongue is a little coated. My sinuses are draining a little hope this detox gets underway. My face skin seems to be peeling. Its never done that before looks like I had a sunburn. Hopefully that just healing.

Have a great day. Glad to have you here Qwerty. Enjoy that lovely citrus juice.

I am day 7 Water Fast

I woke up feeling great. I did my enema and i felt so free so good, totally amazing and happy. I didn't have problem at all to prepare some food for Saturday for my guest. I did have some thought that i wish to be part but this morning, i am not even interested. I just love the thought that i am on the right path to fully heal my body. I am starting to see great result and i am very happy with it. I know my left kidney is weak because most of my issue is on my left side. Knee (pretty good now), hip ( pretty good now), elbow it is coming along, eye it is detoxing and it is red in the bottom, skin rash is fading away. I won't brake my fast tomorrow and i see this party as a test that i can strength my discipline which was weak before this fast.

Anyway, wishing you all the best and wonderful day of fasting!

Day 3 for me as well. Was sick all day yesterday and not feeling great this morning. My tongue is coated so hopefully I'm coming out of the worst of it.

I decided yesterday to cut out the green/black teas entirely and just focus on simple juice and water. Michigan Roman's ginger tea post above looks great so I'll perhaps give that a whirl this evening.

For this morning I made cantaloupe/mint and carrot/orange juices. Keeping it simple for now while my body gets through this initial cleansing.

Best wishes to everyone!

Thank you all for the support of my son's surgery. He's had a hard time of it but he's doing well. (((hugs))) We did lots of BodyTalk and Reiki on him to assist with him moving the drugs out of his system and his body accepting the loss of his teeth. I think he'll be healing quickly with all this love and support!

Yesterday Parz and I did our certification exams for BodyTalk and passed with flying colours! He scored 100% and I scored 98%. Nice to have that out of the way. The exams were supposed to take a couple of hours so we took one litre of juice with us to share. It was over six hours!!! I had to run to the market and get us some yucky bottled juice but our brains needed some sugar to continue with our exams. When we finished we went straight to an organic raw restaurant and ordered two juices each. mmmm yummers. melon with spices! Tasted very creamy. Then we came home and watched a movie to celebrate and give our brains a rest. LOL

Today is day four and Parz just made us a gorgeous apple/ginger juice for breakfast. We are going to juice a watermelon today and give our kidneys a little detox. Should be fun (and yummy!!!).

I find my sleep goes in phases. Sometimes (during fasting) I need heaps of sleep and then I'll go for days on 2 or 3 hours a night... then to 6 hours. Always changing.

Our fasting dreams are totally bizarre, they have started!

Oh and our eyes are so clear and white. Gorgeously white. The colour portions are clearing too. I love it when my eyes clear... tells me things on the inside are clearing as well!

Happy Fasting to everyone!
*note taken - no radish juice ever - added beside my note: no cabbage juice EVER!!!*

I am on day 2, officially 21 1/2 hours in on my water fast. I'm not going to have any tea this time. I'm planning to do 3-4 days so my breaking period won't be too long, that's the hardest part for me because I always want to rush it. I stayed up all night since that's the time I usually don't eat and it worked; i didn't eat, slept most of the day and now that I'm up it's dark outside and I'm not even thinking about eating. Once I hit 24 hours with my fasts I'm on board and it's not hard from there.

I got quite a deep detox during my 7 day fast a month ago, which I ended with a colonic and I've been on probiotics since so I've been very regular and feel like this has been cleansing my body even more. But I did have quite a bit of non-raw over the holidays and wasn't home so I couldn't be in control of what I was eating....I really feel the need to clean out those 3 weeks of food. I haven't done a juice fast yet so maybe I'll switch this one to juice after a few days...it all depends on how I feel this time!

Almost end of day 11 for me wooo hoo! Woke up this morning back to the stuffy head, sinuses, slight headache and had puffy eyes. I haven't been getting much sleep either. I went to bed early last night and crashed at about 10:00 and woke up at 5:00, was unable to fall back to sleep. I was tired all day and thought that since i am not having much BM's (a little in the mornings) that i should do an enema when i got home from work and get some of those toxins OUT, which made me feel much better and took that super tired and drained feeling away! I might do those more often or on a daily basis because i am also straining my juices.....

My taste buds are really starting to come alive and so is my sense of smell. I haven't had a problem at all yet with cravings. My husband eats a SAD diet and im still cooking for him. People are eating around me all day at work and customers are constantly talking about food. I am actually finding myself grossed out with SAD food and drooling over fruits and veggies. The juices are SO satisfying to me, i am amazed.

You can tell you are an experienced faster MR. Being prepared is so important!!!

Every person here should already know what they are going to break their fast on an how they'll do it, how long they'll do it etc. too many fasts are broken without prep

So people how are you breaking your fast when you are ready?

Two thumbs up to Randazzos , love that place. They just recently opened the new one out on Garfield, its very nice.

Aleesha, i am planning on breaking my fast with un strained juices maybe on the first day then smoothies, then on to fruits while still drinking my veggies and then slowly incorporate salads.....

I plan to break with juicing the apples in my fridge. Later I'll juice some of the carrots. I also have oranges so I'll juice them and if I need juice while I'm work I can get some orange juice there. When I'm on the solid fruits I"ll eat some more apples and get some bananas which I'm already excited for! salad on the third day

Hi All: Newbie here and for sure the senior of the crowd and on day 5 of juice fast. I have fasted before (water only) many times but 8 days was my limit. Now I feel that my health is way too compromised to do a water fast so am going to juice and see where that takes me. I am really glad to have found a group of you on the same journey to better health and wellness through fasting as I know journeying with others really helps. Because this is a new way for me I really do not know how long it will last first time around but would like it to be around 30 days or so. My first 3 days were brutal, not too bad yesterday and better even today. I am hoping this body pain especially my back ache will leave me soon.

I look forward to getting to know you all. Take care, and remember to enjoy the sunshine in your life.

welcome!!! you may be surprised at the ages in this thread. i'm 48!!!

everyone, i think i made one of those AMAZING tom juices tonight... i don't think... i KNOW i did.

9 toms
1/2 fennel
celery (about 3-4" of an entire bunch)
garlic
ginger
a tiny bit of parsley - about 5 sprigs
1 carrot with greens
1/4 of an organic red pepper
1 small zucchini

actually everything but the toms were organic. toms are too expensive for me to juice them daily on a fast so i use non-organic.

then we added in an italian mix blend and some herbamere spicy (i get it at whole foods)... oh wow was it ever nice!!!

so day five is almost at a close... lots of energy today. lots!!!

in light,
Lady Awen

please don't break your fast with bananas. they are so constipating especially after a fast. wait a week before adding them to your diet (unless you blend them in a smoothie)

so... good breaking suggestions:

a green smoothie watered down
soaked prunes (not my fav thing to break a fast with but a common choice)
papaya (my number one choice)
mango
grapes without the skin (the skin is too hard to digest)

what suggestions do others have?

I just feel so good on it.
I've resisted eating out twice yesterday with my family
Which i have never been able to do before. Personal growth FTW.

Went for a walk this morning. I'm not sure whether i like walking compared to actually working out in the morning.

Day 6 for me. Yesterday I felt like I got hit by a bus. I just laid down and let the kids run wild. Had tomato juice and some of my kale carrot orange. Im feeling better today.

Wow Aleesha 10 lbs. You don't look like you have that much to loose. Im not having weight loss like id hoped. 4lbs. That is a good amount. I just want energy that is my goal for this month. Increase my energy.

I was going to break my fast with cantaloupe. I don't have a plan for when but I have the canteloupe ready. This weekend has been hard for me.

I don't think ive been drinking enough water. Its been cold so Ive been drinking teas. Yesterday I drank very little juice I think thats why I ran out of steam by the end of the day. Need help on keeping my energy up so I can take care of my kids at night. My plan this week is more water drink more juice.

Good day everyone,

Day 9 of water fasting,

Yesterday was the day that i had people coming over with children. They all pitched in and helped finishing food preparation and dishes. They enjoyed themselves and many told me that i look refreshed. That was great, except for the end of the party because i was tire quit frankly. I had a good night sleep and i am still a little tire from the party and cleaning but today is another day and i feel very good except for recuperating from yesterday. I gave away most the food left of course, since i am water fasting and kept just enough for my family.

I didn't feel any temptation at all and absolutely no discomfort. Even when i would finger test the food, spit it up and rinse my mouth, it didn't generate craving. I would do this just to make sure the food was right while i would make it.

Anyway, you are doing wonderful and wishing you all the best! Enjoy your juice.

Wooo-hoooo all ready for Day Three!

Day Two was smooth sailing -- no detox yet. Had these awesome juices:

Two quarts orange/grapefruit
One quart carrot/celery/ginger
One quart spicy tomato

Hahhahhaa, I suffered by with only a mere gallon yesterday!

I've started today with a quart of grapefruit/apple.... it's SO good.

I'm breaking the fast with either cantalope, honeydew or papaya.... but I'm not buying it yet because I think I might be fasting for a while.

Hang in there, Traceyraw -- you're doing great!

The great thing about breaking your fast with a gloriously soft fruit is that if you are juice fasting you can simply juice it if needed. No waste BUT you are Prepared. So important to be prepared.

Cantaloupe
Melon
Watermelon

Great fast breaking choices!

When breaking a fast have your portion and then wait for a bowel movement before eating more. Patience is the key to a healthy awakening of your digestion.

Good day everyone, took me a while to find my way back here to this thread, but eventually will find my way around. Day 6 for me today, started on the same day as you Aleesha so it is good to know I am in the company of such knowledgeable and experienced fasters. I am in awe of the fact that you released 145 pounds your first year of going Raw, it certainly is a testimony to how our bodies release toxins and weight when eating properly. I have a lot of pounds to drop myself that at this point seems a little overwhelming but if you and others can succeed so can I. Wellness and weight loss are my ultimate goals and hopefully within the 2012 year...............my goal before I hit my 65th. See I mentioned that I was the "senior member" of this group.

Have a good Sunday everyone and remember to enjoy the sunshine in your life.

I enjoy eating some fermented veggies in addition to soft fruit during the days as I transition from fasting to eating. Something like this; eat soft fruit, wait a little while. Then eat a fork of fermented sauerkraut or a bite of a pickle. I will also drink a little of the juice too.

I actually just finished off the last of my kraut today which I made in July of 2010. I have been keeping it in my fridge to see how long it would last. A long time I have determined.

three days is good for a short fast. anything extended needs a longer breaking. when i did my 84 and 209 day fasts i let myself break over a month+. the best way to know is to watch your body. if it's doing well on soft fruit, then add in something new. if it balks then go back. your digestion will lead you!

Hello. On day 2 of my first fast. My boyfriend juiced with me yesterday and woke up middle of the night sick as can be. I had a hard time drinking 32 oz yesterday with the juice I made. The smell alone caused me problems and made me very nauseous. I pulled through though. Today I woke up 5lbs lighter so I'm not complaining, I made juice with just apples to figure out what I can drink. It was 100% better than yesterday but about 20 minutes later I was getting severe stomach pains.
I need to lose the weight and stick to this, I'm so glad I find this forum for some support!

How do you deal with these hunger pains? It's almost unbearable!

Happy fasting :-)

I don't know why my body could handle the fermented foods after a long fast. I wouldn't eat a lot of it, and I made sure to chew it up REALLY good. I would also drink a little fermented juice with it. The idea was to repopulate with lots of friendly bacteria. I'm sure that I also would take good quality high count probiotics everyday after a fast. But it's been a while since I've fasted more than 3-5 days at a time. Typically on a short 3-5 day fast I'm not too concerned about it.

I'm thinking of starting a two week fast soon. But I don't know if I have the motivation. LOL I'm going to do a one week water fast for sure, but I've been contemplating starting a week early with juice.

I am about to go to bed. my 9 day water fast went well. I was very tired from the party but i had at time boost of energy. I am having short of breath at time when i use the stairs and i seem to be on the slow motion now. I noticed that i am releasing black stuff from my urine, maybe 5 little piece same size as dulse flake. It could be from my kidney that are cleansing. I am detoxing more now, i keep brushing my tongue from white coating and i have now pimples coming from my forehead. I am sore in my back in the kidney area. I am actual happy because i know my body is getting ride of the bad stuff.

Tomorrow, i am going back to work and i need to get up very early. I won't have time to post in the morning but i will update you at night .

Ready to start Day Four!

Yesterday I had a few cravings -- no big whoop, I just drank more juice. Total damage for the day:

- Two quarts orange/grapefruit
- One quart apple/grapefruit
- One quart spicy tomato
- One quart carrot/celery

My last fast was mostly green juice with just fruit in the morning, so this is totally different for me! However this is what my body's craving right now so I'm just going with it.

Day 10 water fasting, i am feeling much better and decided to take an extra vacation day. I want to just rest, do an enema, and caught up with stuff at home. I am feeling more the detox now, i was short of breath by just pilling an young coconut, lol... for my daughter lunch. I make her lunch every morning from raw food. You can't really do that at night, it has to be in the morning.

Anyway, wishing you all the best and blissful day

Remember that the words you use matter. Calling the juices you consumed "damage" is counter productive. Hence why I release weight. We often find what we lose!

The turmeric root added a gorgeous flavour. I didn't try it alone. I will tonight though and let you know. It looks like an orange ginger root.

When we fast we cleanse. That isn't just on the inside. It's also on the outside. My home loves it when I fast as its energy gets a cleansing at the same time. In Feng Shui if you remove 21 items from your home it creates change. Want more change? Remove 21 items per room!!! Works so well. I use this technique whenever I am looking for change and/or growth.

We are awake. I'm a little on the less-than side of the equation this morning so Parz is about to gift me a BodayTalk session. Then we'll have some juice and he will read to me for a bit. Terry pratchet is the writer we are currently enjoying. Then a day of homeschooling with my daughter.

Remember the number one thing every faster needs: love.

Hugs
Aleesha

......myyyyyy preeeeeccccciiiiioooouuuusssss......

Today is my husband's first day of juice fasting. He has never done anything like this before. I am fasting with him, just in a combo fast of smoothy-juice.

Since I am the new Juicing Chef _ something I have never done before, either, I gladly sit in on your teachings and leadings. I can see the learning curve ahead of me.

This morning, while making his breakfast juice and his daily two quarts to take to his job, I noticed that my juicer doesn't like tomatoes.

Point this elf to where I can find out either how to fix this or another ingredient. My husband BEGGED for a tomato_based juice. :(

I am using a Magic Bullet juicer. I know..I know.. it's not a Champ..etc. Right now, that's all we have. I suspect we will move into another juicing dimention soon enough.

He received oranges, apples, carrots, red bell pepper, kale, cucumber, lemon, parsley and tomato ( uhm, not really! ).... FRUIT_ breakfast and the rest 80/20 veggie-fruit.

I am awaiting his text back during his lunchtime to see how he's doing.

******* I am talking to Hubby right now.
He said he's drinking his lunch right now. He forgot to shake it up at first. He let me know he's a bit dizzy and lightheaded. But he thinks its because he's going through a cellular rush from all of the nutrition flooding in.

I told him to take his time.... detox can make you feel a bit whoozy.. *Trust me.. this is a guy who could eat an entire tray of sugar by himself _ in one sitting. His body is getting used to it.

Last thing he said, "I CAN DO THIS!"

Day 8. Starting week 2! Went under 200lbs this morning!

I overdid it a little yesterday. I was feeling so good, I went on a housecleaning binge, scrubbing It from head to toe. Then I walked 3 miles. Was drained by the end of the night and had to get my wife to help me prepare my last juice. Feel better this morning, but I am gong to take it easy, maybe even skip the walk tonight.

Time to run to whole foods. I am anxious to try Aleesha's spicy Tom juce.

My ultimate goal is to hit 170. I am hoping to make this juice fast last until the end of January and hit 180 with it, and go the final 10lbs with a good raw diet. I am an airline pilot and sitting senior reserve this month, meaning I sit on standby at home, and have a very unlikely chance of getting called due to my seniority. Next month though, I go to training on a new jet, so I cannot juice. This month the only challenge I have is this comig weekend. My cousin is a military pilot and is deploying soon. We are going deep sea fishing in Pensacola before he goes. I am bringing my old juicer with me though, and he is supportive. I just hope he doesn't want vodka in his carrot juice!

You are doing wonderful . Congratulations

Good day to all my fasting friends, day 7 for me today and I managed to get my tummy rumbling last night with a improvised spicy juice that Aleesha posted. I made a horrible foo paw by adding extra spice using tobascco sauce and really payed the price all night with a very unhappy tummy. I could use some suggestions for soothing juice today for a very unhappy tummy.

I am also struggling with incredible back and body pain and have had to resort to taking and Advil and a Tylenol a couple of times. I know, I know, I am not supposed to take these but I really need to keep moving forward with this fast and my body pain is getting in the way. I found previously that when I was on a water fast the body pain shut down after day three but this time it is still nagging me big time. Any and all suggestions appreciated.

HELLO!! Welcome to all the newbies ..Cheers :juicy:

Today makes day 14 for me. Its been a rough couple of days. Saturday night i was laying on the couch all cuddled with my dog and somehow i pulled a muscle in my shoulder/rotator cuff. I have no idea how this happened, my body must have thought i was in a weird position and is punishing me for it! I have been in EXCRUCIATING pain. No matter how i would put my arm, there was NO relief, it was on fire. I have had to take muscle relaxers and some motrin for the pain, it was either that or shoot me lol. Today i feel a bit of relief, still very sore but haven't had to take any meds and hoping not to. I have been drinking my herbal tonic (Ginger,Turmeric, Eucommia, with honey) the last few days, its also good for inflammation.

Have a great day everyone!

Had some yummy pineapple, celery, zucchini and orange juice for breakfast and lunch.
Then i had some apple, carrot and orange juice for dinner.
I'm lucky, my boyfriend makes my juices for me.
This is especially helpful when i'm feeling a bit low on energy like today.
I'm yet to do my 30 mins minimum exercise.
Hoping the "in-laws" (for better term of the word) will go to bed soon so i can exercise!
I'm really trying to stay positive on this fast.
I'm used to thinking negatively due to my past.
However i am noticing that any time i have negative thoughts my body goes "i want to exercise"
Good signs.

Hope everyone is doing amazingly

Hey all day 8 for me - feeling great - but needed a nap earlier after my afternoon juice - which lasted for 3 hours! - hope I sleep tonight.

Up to now I have released approx 9lbs - I'm trying to build muscle for future weight maintenance, so think thats the reason why it isn't more. ( I think we are in the same boat ushotmedown?)

Aleesha - Thank you for the info re Breaking Fast - I need to incorporate plenty of time when finally deciding when I will stop - I am hoping for 30 - 60 days in total but setting small goals and seeing how I get on :)

Love hearing all the successes on this thread - Well Done Everyone! It's real great motivator :)

Hello everyone, first day of my first juice fast. I am aiming for ten days.

I just had my first juice at 3pm, late start haha. had to pick my new juicer up at the leasing office then go get all of the fruit and produce. I kept my first juice pretty simple - just picked something out of the book that came with my juicer - 2 tomatoes, 1 cucumber, 3 carrots and a bunch of parsley. it was certainly drinkable but I like most things :) probably could have used an apple.

this forum is great. I love the positive attitudes (Aleesha!) everyone seems to have. I need the encouragement, haha. thanks.

Carrot juice is one of my favorites for my fasts! After a few days my skin just becomes gorgeous and glowing from it. :)

Its 10(ish) pm here and i'm still waiting to exercise.
I really really want to do it. My body just wants me too.
Instead of some of the destructive behaviours i've done in the past i'm slowly replacing it with loving myself.
Hopity i definately think exercising with fasting slows down my weightloss short term but in the long run it will probably even it out if not speed it up.
I've had 2 out of my 3 litres of water so far. I know i will easily get the last one drank.
I leave for bournemouth (for uni) on friday so after that i will be able to wake early without worrying about disturbing people.
This will give me more time to do things and not stress out about them.
I'm probably rambling here so sorry.
How is your son recovering Aleesha? Hope everything is going well with his healing.

Today is day 1 for me also. I was planning to start tomorrow but couldn't figure out a good reason to wait. I juiced all day yesterday except for a little in the morning. Today I've had tea, lemon water and I'm on my 2nd quart of juice so far, with a 3rd in the fridge. I'm gonna do Aleesha's tomatoe juice-love it!-tonight.

Day 5 today

I've been experimenting with some interesting juice combinations. Last night I did celery, cucumber, fennel, cilantro and spinach. Very light and refreshing tasting. This fast is going much smoother than previous fasts. We snowshoed 2.5 hours Sunday then walked for 2 hours yesterday. So far I've had tons of energy and no detox symptoms at all

Had a good juicy day today. Parz is working late tonight so my daughter and I are just hanging out. We made a gorgeous huge collage today. It turned out so nice. Very pleased with it.

End of day 1... it was harder than the last time. You just never know how it's going to be.

One thing I'm doing different this time is that I'm pretty much doing all green juices, verses a lot of fruit. Although I might mix it up a bit if I get too bored. Fruit seems a lot more expensive though.

Wow. Today has not been spectacular. I don't think I had enough juice. Was very sleepy so I slept alot. Rain cause a roof leak in our new house! My wife just made one of my favorite old foods and the whole house stinks of it. This is the first night in a while that I have a battle on my hands. Bring it!

Oh mye, what a challenge. You did it and congratulation, you will see the reward from your effort.

The day is over and time to go to bed. I did quite of bit today but at time i had to sit. My upper/middle back is sore, beside this, i am ok.

Looking forward for day 11th, which would be half way from 21 days. Like i said, i don't make promise to do a water fast up to then but i sure would love too. It looks, like i most likely will reach 21 days. I still have a good body fat ratio. My body isn't fully heal so i want to do this most of all. I won't manage to have an enema due that i have to wake up early to make lunch for my family but if at night i can, i certainly will do.

Have a good fast!

I just wanted to share my positive effects from my wonderful juice fast. I will be starting another shortly. Thanks for all of the great support.

My face was pealing when I was fasting. This morning I notice those little brown patches I got during pregnancy are gone. My skin looks great.
I,m sleeping like a baby.
I have gained will power and control over my appetite.
I have more energy I actually feel like exercising.

Thanks again I will be rejoining you soon. Peace and Hugs.

Day 11 of water fasting, I had to get up at 3 am, so i am only sleepy because of this, i don't feel physically tired, i am not also on slow motion, just feel normal. I am at work and i brought a bunch of water to drink. What is cool, i didn't drop body fat dramatically, i seem to do this very slow, which give me hope to be able to do this longer. My first water fast, i drop the weight in no time, funny how our body protect us. If i would lose 2 pound a day like my other fast, i would be like bone and skin right now, but i am not. I am at 118 lb and almost 28% body fat. I notice my left elbow much better, there are still inflammation in this area and my left eye also, but i know in my heart, it will soon be ok. My kidney area are sore, i can tell they are working hard.

Wishing you well
