I've been eating high raw and I've gained weight? I don't understand how or why I've gained weight. Can you all help and see what I need to change? I gained like 3 lbs. I expected to loose weight, and I'm still detoxing. I been drinking at least 3 liters of water a day. I look at the scale I just want to cry.
I have been having a lot of high energy now though.

It is hard to answer your question without knowing what you are eating. Are you eating a lot of high calorie/high fat things (like nuts & avocado)? Could you give us an idea of what you've been eating the last few days?

kale, carrots, green onion salad with pico de gallo almost everyday. last day I ate one with one half avacado
raw nori power bars made with raw sunflower seeds last two days
raw tortilla soup first day
raw mac and cheese made with raw cashew cheese noodles are yam sweet potatos
zucchini curry raw pasta with raw cashew cream sauce
those cute little oranges called cuties- bananas- mango- apples fruit i eat a lot of fruit
green smoothies
pico de gallo and some guacamole as a snack
raw dehydrated zucchini chips, sweet potato chips, kale chips
baby carrots as a snack
raw donut holes made with coconut dates and chopped walnuts - all raw and organic
this is the last week basically....not all in one day!! LOL I eat a lot of greens too!!
maybe cut out some nuts? I don't want to make myself think I'm starving though. How much nuts is too much...we bought 4 lbs of nuts like last week and we still have about 1 1/2 left. We experimented a lot this last week to find things we like. I still have a lot of sauces left in the refrigerator.
I know I'm not supposed to stress on weight but I'm about 50 lbs from my goal weight and I want to be happy fit and most of all healthy, I have a 5 yr old I need to be there for. This is the best place to ask, I get a lot of support from here. Thank you so much for answering to my posts!!!

When I first began about 15 years or so ago, we basically ate everything made with nuts, seeds and dried fruit... burgers, flatbreads, crackers, loaves, etc. If you've not gotten it, get Alissa's book and see what she ate when she first went raw and how she fed others.
What are you eating non-raw? Are you eating anything with a lot of salt? Salt will retain water and I've found you can hold about 5 extra pounds of water weight from it.
I wouldn't worry about 4 days.... give it a couple of weeks and see where you are.

Can you go 100% raw for a week or two, to see if there are changes?
When I first went raw, I actually gained weight as well. And then I lost it again, without changing anything. If you can (and I know it can be hard), try to ignore the scale for a bit.
Your body could just be in shock because it's getting nutrition it's been needing for a while. It will settle out and go to where it needs to go as your brain and body start to trust that this isn't a phase. You might also find as you continue down this path, that your body (and brain) needs are less and different.
Try not to panic and keep telling yourself it's okay. You also might find that you are losing inches even when the scale doesn't match what your clothes say. Sounds like you're doing great. Keep going!

The body has natural ups and downs when it comes to weight. If you were not fully hydrated when you started and you are now then you will probably weigh more very naturally and healthily. Weigh no more than once a week and once a month is even better and you get a better over-view of what you weigh.
Just trust to raw for the time being. You will feel the difference in your clothes and you will feel better/healthier. Keep drinking plenty of water to keep you fully hydrated and enjoy the raw foods. The weight loss will come soon enough :o)

I gained 2 lbs or so when I first started too and I was about 90% raw and so disappointed! I made lots of things from nuts though (lots of the 'raw gourmet' stuff I used to transition over has nuts). Now I've lost about 10 pounds (through 2 juice fasts though) but now I eat like barely any nuts and just stick to fruits and green juices, I'd try that for a week or 2 if I were you to see if it's the nuts

Question here is, can/will you sustain it?

Oh my gosh! Thank you all so much!! I will try the whole only weigh myself once a mnth thing...im crazy already enough. Ok I have a horrible coffee addiction and plus I do add pink crystal salt to dishes we make. I can try to go without salt but don't our bodies need salt?

I had a terrible diet coke addiction but haven't drunk any coke or other caffeine-based drinks since end of April 2011. Giving that up is the best thing I did. I have not given up salt although I try to keep it to a minimum.

All the sodium we need is already in the food we eat. WE use it to give more flavor to food. Like sugar, when you stop adding it, you get to taste the true flavor of your food. It's another addiction.

I had a bad headache for a few days then all was good. When I'm 100% raw I eat less salt generally. When I eat cooked foods then I use much more. I find added salt consumption is self-regulating when I'm 100% raw.

Try celery and celery juice it has a natural saltyness.
For the coffee try raw chocolate it has a great kick to it. I make cookies, shakes, and pudding with it. It has alot of caffine. See what your body is craving then find what is raw and what can I substitute. I drink celery/apple juice almost everyday. I don't feel the need for salt anymore.

I found the best alternative to diet coke has been fresh juices and water. Chocolate is not helpful for me. I eat too much if it's freely available and by "too much" I mean I'll eat it til I feel sick - in case anyone was wondering.

I don't drink sodas anymore but I'll let myself have coffee sometimes and green tea.
I also use salt or soy sauce when making some raw dishes. I don't use a ton of it and don't see any reason to stress about things like that when I'm eating raw. It's sort of like worrying about calories.... it's just not something I do anymore!

-- I feel it is, it's been over a month with no weight gain eating as much fruit and veg as I want ... I believe it was toxins being removed from my body which I won't be putting into my body again...

I eat a lot of fruit and I was worried about the sugar making me gain weight, I eat some nuts I wouldn't say a lot and I love avocados I heard it's sorta the junkfood of being raw. I wouldn't see how since it's from the earth. lol Maybe mine is also the toxins coming out of my body, next week me and the hubbsters is going on a juice fast, I already said I wanted to fast to kickstart the raw. I'm hoping I don't detox as hard this time since I been raw for a week and have already been detoxing. lol

Well, I know this isn't true for most people, but I have to watch the amount of fruit that I eat. If I eat more than a couple of pieces of whole fruit a day, I always gain weight. I also don't juice fast for this reason.. it's too easy to consume mega calories when juice fasting, and while it seems to work for most people, I gain weight. Something about a lot of fruit doesn't really agree with my particular body. For weight loss, I've found the best thing is to keep it simple and keep the foods as whole as possible. Big green salads, etc. At first I ate a lot of processed raw foods (like smoothies and dehydrated crackers and gourmet recipes and things like that), but now I try to keep it much more simple and limit the fattier processed things.
