I called my doctor Thursday to see if they had received my labs back to see how my thyroid was doing.
They faxed me the results and said that the doctor wanted to see me.
I have not talked to the doctor yet, but I have reviewed my report and saw that my TSH is 0.039 and was flagged low.
I have been having EXTREME thyroid symptoms but they have been a mixture of what you would call hypo symptoms, and some have been hyper symptoms. The past 3 days have been a nightmare, and my family was wanting me to go to the hospital because I look and feel so bad. Not to mention someone was stollen "my" personality.
Here are all my numbers....
If I am reading these right, then it would show that I am HYPER and not hypo. even though the numbers are "low" Is that correct?
Don't worry, I know the disclaimers, and I want hold anyone responsible for their opinion ;)
T4 Free 0.98
T3 Free 3.4
T3 Total 124
T4 Total 5.8
TSH 0.039
B12 402.0
Vit D 39
WBC 3.2
There is so much info. on HYPOthyroid but not much on HYPERthyroid.
I did look up foods that would help, but wanted to see if anyone had any other suggestions, or any supplements/herbal ideas that may help.
I do not want the doctor to tell me that I have to take medication, or have my thyroid killed off. BUT, I cannot go on feeling like I do. The past 3 days I thought I was going to pass out or die. I feel like an alien has taken over my mind and body :(
The last ultrasound I had on it was about 3 months ago, it was enlarged and had a nodule, but my numbers were not this "off"
So, I'm not sure what he's going to say.
Anyone that has dealt with thyroid issues, I would love to hear your story. You can e-mail me or respond on here.
I know Deb has dealt with Hyperthyroid, and I would love to hear how raw has helped her recover.
Blessings,
Cathy

Never blindly trust what a doctor says, and never, ever forget everything they do is for their profit, not for your benefit. The most atrocious crimes against humanity are committed by modern medicine, their treatments are the #1 cause of death and disease according to their own statistics. Always research information from independent, unbiased sources (modern medicine is the most biased source there is). Even if they tell you you need to have your thyroid removed, it's just because that's what's most profitable to them and there are solutions that don't require removing essential organs from your body.
I don't know much about thyroid problems, but know they can be caused by things like either the chlorine or fluoride (forgot which) in tap water, some chemicals added to food like aspartame and others. Are you on an all raw diet? If not, do you avoid chemical additives and processed foods in your non raw part? Are you on any medications? All drugs cause disease so if you're on one or more drug look into if they are causing the problem, and also look for ways to get off them.
Since I don't know much about thyroid problems I can't say more and hope this helps in case you weren't aware of some things I said. I've been made to suffer atrocious pains as a result of modern medical treatments and would have had a short and painful life had I kept trusting them.

Nurse called me early yesterday morning and sent me to recheck some of my levels. She called again this morning and said that my numbers were still very off and that it looks like this is pointing to a "Secondary" problem possibly coming from my Pituitary.
I will be seeing the endo. tomorrow morning to rule out some of the serious things like a Pituitary Tumor or Thyroid Cancer.
I am not wanting to take the "medical" route, but I also feel like I need more of a defined diagnosis so I can figure out what I need to address and how to handle it through diet, supplements, and any other natural alternatives. I know that I can't mess around with something that could be very serious and even cause a heart attack or stroke.
I am praying that it is nothing serious and that the news will be good.
Merry Christmas!!

DebB, I wish you'd post for all to see!
I was slightly hypo about 12 or 13 yrs ago. Tried everything "natural." but still remained slightly hypo. Then I did two cleanses about a year apart ---all raw juice ---and on the second cleanse, I went from hypo to slightly hyper to .39 during the cleanse. I stopped taking my small dosage of meds and have not taken them since. That was five years ago.
Now, I do know that when you cleanse you can often become hyper, but reallydon't know why, but have also heard that nodules or things on your thyroid/pituitary can be removed by surgery successfully.
However, I'd research it to the hilt. Well, looks like you've started --after all, you're asking here!
Amazing how all the hormones/everything in our body is so interconnected....
Oh, we'd need to know the "average" levels to make sense of the numbers above you've given...Sometimes it's hard to remember, and sometimes, different labs use diff't levels for Free T3, Free T4 etc. Your Vit D is low too. It should be 50 minimum. You can start there for sure.
Maybe also look up high doses of Vit C as well...Sometimes, this will make you more hypo, which may be what you'd want to try. but don't listen to me, I'm just stabbing at it...Just giving you some place to start.
After your research, and your trials and tribulations, how about coming back here so that others may learn?
Best of luck to you,
Mary Kay
Hi Mary Kay ~ I'm a client of a Naturopath and I've been asked not to post about it here, sorry!

That does not make sense that one can not post Naturpath info here. Especially on the health page.
I would love to know how you are naturally dealing it thyroid.
I started recently cytomel and even though I really do not want prescription drugs it has helped with my energy very much.
Oh and I needed to take this after two years of a pristine 100 percent raw diet. I started feeling so tired all of the time. Aweful!

Here's an update on my Thyroid/Pituitary
My TSH is now down to 0.015 :( But, my T3 and T4 have stayed within the normal limits.
I had the Iodine uptake scan and my thyroid is not taking up much iodine at all. After 8 hours it was only a little over 1% and after 24 hours it was only
a little over 3%
The scan showed that the thyroid is slightly enlarged with a very small 4mm nodule.
My cortisol test came back fine, so they said it was not the adrenals.
Right now they are thinking that I have a "Secondary Hypothyroidism" or I'm dealing with a Pituitary disorder like Hypopituitarism.
We will be doing a MRI next Tues. to rule out a Pituitary Tumor.
The question I have tonight is that he wants me to get some more blood work done to help rule out some disorders with the Hypothalamus and
the Pituitary.
I need to know what day of my female cycle would be best to do these labs to get the most accurate reading? I know that hormones are always
changing even every hour, but I need to know the best day to get these done.
Here is what he is ordering for my labs....
Growth Hormone Serum
Insulin Like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-2)
Insulin Growth Factor 3 (IGF-3)
LH
FSH
Estradiol
11-Desoxycortisol (2 Specimens)
Any ideas or suggestions?
THANK YOU!!!
Cathy

I don't know much about thyroid except that kelp is supposed to be excellect for the thyroid.
Also, you might want to check any personal care products you use in this database. It might tell you that the shampoo you use has a substance that affects your glands: http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/

Just gonna take a stab in the dark here........
Do you have any mercury dental fillings? Or did you have any that were removed? Have you had any, "medicines/shots" in the past that had mercury in them? I can't recall any of the, "medicines", that were used in the past that had lots of mercury in it. But I'm sure it was more common than we actually know.
Mercury will bind to the receptor sites in the thyroid that iodine is supposed to bind to. And it will just sit there bogarting the space not allowing any iodine in.
Chlorella, cilantro, msm, bentonite clay, zeolites, chelation and I'm sure there are more, will remove accumulated mercury from your body. But if you have amalgam fillings then get them properly removed before doing any chelation therapy.

rawmiss, thanks for the link. I use all natural and mostly organic personal care products, but only the past few years.
Fastfreedom, Yes, unfortunately I have a mouthful of amalgam filings that I have had since I was a child and a teenager. I have thought about the mercury a lot lately
and will probably seek out a way to test my mercury levels. I know that I can get my hair tested and I think there is also a blood test. I will ask my naturopath doctor about it.
I wonder how expensive it would be to get the fillings taken out??
Anyone know about what time of the month would be good to have those labs drawn?
Thanks!!
Cathy
