PCOS December 2011

I see that the PCOS thread is old and I am hoping to find some people who are still here.
My story is I was diagnosed 8 years ago and have had a few blood transfusions(whe I go off of birth control pills) and am on birth control pills so I dont bleed to death. My finances are not that great so I guess I am on my own and raw is my only hope. I need to lose weight. Basically. I need to heal myself. I dont want to feel hopeless but sometimes this pcos gets me down and makes me feel crazy.
Any tips on PCOS any long timers have learned?

One more question: what should be my first step.
I am reading victoria boutenko's book and am interested in making juices or shakes. I was wondering is starting with a good detox juice fast would be ideal.
