Hi, I am planning on starting a raw diet tomorrow, 12/7/11.
Anyways, I have a few pounds to lose, but a main thing I am hoping a raw diet will cure is my OCD tendencies. I have alot of obsesive arranging/organizing rituals, as well as absolutely HAVING to have things a certain way, and thinking obsessively about certain topics and overanalyzing them, making them seem much more complex than they actually are. I have read that perhaps this OCD may be caused by a lack of minerals or a deficiency in vitamins, so would a raw diet help me?

almost certainly but you will probably have to make an effort to address why any deficiency you might have would manifest itself in this way. I don't think it is as simple as "just" a deficiency.

Eating raw food does help with mood/depression and it gives you a feeling of power over yourself which should help I would have thought.

I agree that a raw food diet will help with these tendencies- it seems to have calmed down a lot of things in my life, like skin issues brought on by stress, my period, emotional eating, al these things have improved since going raw. I have a sneaking suspicion that not eating so much cooked food would likely help settle your mind, as well. Sometimes the change can be so slow, you don't know you've changed- keeping a journal helps with that. Good Luck!

Live blood analysis by a nutritionist could be a good idea.

Also, perhaps you could do David Berceli's Trauma Release Exercises to ensure there is no stress locked in your body, which could cause anxieties, insecurities etc. Read the comments on his book on Amazon.com if interested.

I think that just the action of cutting grains and dairy out of your diet will help you. Goodluck on your raw journey

I've had a few OCD tendencies myself as well as a lot of anxiety due to emotional trauma. They have been going away. Especially the ones where I'm laying in bed wondering if i turned the stove off five hours ealier when I mad tea...not sure if that's OCD but it's some kind of neurotic behavior. I can talk myself out of these situations better than I could before. So I know I'm making progress. I feel my mind has detoxed just as much as my body.

A good raw diet will help with OCD. lt balances the mind very very well.

I have the same problem. I get so involved in a new project or diet and it becomes all comsuming. I end up burning out just when I start to see results. While I'm sure a raw diet can and will benefit both of us, maybe addressing past issues may help as well? Good luck to you! I'm going to start in the first week of January when I get paid. Keep us posted on how you're doing!
