Doctor Morse recommended people with brain and nervous system problems eat only fruit for detox.
But the last week or so, I have been doing a fruit fast on oranges, grapes, bananas, blackberries, raspberries, dates, lemons, grapefruit, apples.
I am still new to raw foods, and I haven't noticed anything yet.
My question is, if you eat only fruit, does it neutralize toxicity like herbs do?

Edited - looking to find information on how acidic fruits alkalize the body. It's not straightforward. If anyone has info on specific scientific studies for lemons providing an alkalizing effect I would love to read them. Thanks.

The rate at which your body cleanses itself depends on so many factors, but i believe it takes more than just one week to notice any important differences. I half expect you to feel worse before you start feeling better. Any sudden and significant lifestyle change will be a bit of a shock for your body, even if it is for the better.
May i ask what kind of changes you expect to occur? Sometimes our own expectations are preventing us from enjoying the simple benefits of a detox. You should be feeling lighter and more energetic, as well as more clear minded as a result of a detox, but these are just general experiences. Every person goes through a detox in their own unique way, i don't think any two experiences are identical.

Snoops link likely explains it very well. When foods are determined as acidifying or alkalizing I think its based on the ph taken of it's ash residue when either carbonized or burned. The end result of that process is thought to be close to or identical to the result of metabolization of food in our body. A higher percentage of an alkaline ash leads to a more alkaline system and an acidic ash, acidic. Now I'll go read the link and see how off base I am. I've probably embarrased myself. LOL

It rather depends what you mean by toxicity and what you mean by neutralise.
Some toxins are not just going to disappear like a puff of smoke cos you eat some fruit. Heavy metals for example - look for posts by arky on this forum; they are very informative.

I'd guess to eat to detoxify you'd want to eat to support all your eliminatory avenues and the liver in particular. Did you notice when you did herbs, or have you tried the herbal approach and see positive results MJ? If so why not combine that with the fruit diet and see if results improve.
As with all bodily changes a week is very short term for great expectations. Keep working at it and be patient.
Besides, you dont have anywhere to go in a big hurry where you wont be able to continue this pursuit for better health, do you? We'll be here to assist. I dont plan on leaving this planet until the time is right. At that point, my food and health issues will be a thing of the past. So, keep on keepin' on, and keep your eyes on the prize.
