OK..I am basically new here, signed up a while ago but never really posted.

I would like to build up my raw intake. And I was thinking that to start off I would eat raw once a week. I know raw foods can help detox the body. But will eatting raw once a week put too much toxins in my breastmilk? My baby is 10 months old but don't eat much solid he gets 99% of his nutrients from me.

My diet on a whole is fine. We do organic produce and do the whole grain stuff. I do like sugar(I am finally admitting) so I know I have some sugar detoxing to do(I mostly do my own deserts and use raw sugar, maple syrup or agave).

So will it be ok for me to start once a week eatting a raw foods.

I hope you don't mind me at the site since I am not totally raw. My goal is to become about 60% raw and then reevalute my goals.

do you seriously not eat any raw foods at the moment?

You could go 100% raw I reckon and your milk would be fine. Do what feels good for you.

I do eat raw foods..i am just wondering if a whole day of raw would send too much toxins to my breastmilk.

I doubt it. Your body cleans itself all the time so if you put less crap in you'll get less crap out. Has your diet been so bad that you think there is significant to come out? There is a lot talked about detox but I've never seen a scientific study on it. If you know of any, please let me know. I went 100% raw over night for 4.5 months. I had headaches for 3 days but nothing that fitted the so-called de-tox description otherwise. The headaches came from giving up a huge diet coke habit suddenly.

u should be fine ... most people dont have a huge detox reaction unless they went on a juice fast for a certain period of time (and its not highly recommended while breast feeding . though i see nothing wrong with making juice a part of ur daily life ... just dont let it be the only thing u r taking in ) putting more raw foods into ur diet will help increase ur breastmilk (lots of fresh fruit) and more nutritous for ur child . i would do more raw . good luck .

Also remember that your breasts is not where you body normally excretes a ton of toxins. Waste is usually secreted through urination and sweating.
