View Full Version : dehydrator
Hi,
Any recommendation what to buy?
I know that Excalibur Dehydrator is the best, but is there anything else less expensive and still good quality?
Any advice would be very appreciated!

I gotta be honest, I dont even know what a dehydrator is! Is that used to make dehydrated fruits? Like the kind you buy in the supermarket?

I think Alissa now sells the Good4U brand on this site, which is very good and less than the Excalibur.
I bought a Weston 10-tray for $150 on the QVC website and I love love love it! I believe the manufacturer is the same as the Good4U. I would've bought through this site, but the QVC let me make payments.

A dehydrator allows you to heat foods at low temperatures so they remain raw. You can make lots of delicious raw crackers and breads, heat up soups and entrees, and make many of the delicious gourmet recipes and desserts found in Alissa's books and others shared on this site!

I purchased a 10-tray Good4U dehydrator and it works perfectly. I also have a smaller Excalibur and there really is no difference between the two.
I was under the impression that the Good4U didn't allow you to remove trays to accomadate bigger pans, like a 9x13 pan and the like? Or to remove trays to fit in larger items like kale chips. Perhaps I'm mistaken about that though. :)
I have 2 Excalibur. A 9 tray (which I highly recommend) and a 4 tray that I found at the thrift store. For our needs, I love the Excalibur.
There's a newer model out by Tri-Best. I forget what it's called -- the Sedona? If my Excalibur needed to be replaced, I would take a good look at the Tri-Best model.
