Someone else mentioned raw food in relation to another question earlier and I just wondered what people on a diet like that eat? Obviously raw food, but what sorts of meals do they have? Is it filling? I think I'd struggle on a diet when I didn't cook anything.

raw food can be as light or as filling as you want it to be really.

Why not get a copy of Alissa's book and try a raw diet for a month?

Being on a raw food diet does not imply that no food preparation takes place. This is a common misconception among non raw foodists. There are plenty of things you can do with food, other than cook it, such as blend it, juice it, dehydrate it, grind it, sprout it, ferment it, marinate it and so on and so forth. If you plan on starting a raw food diet, then you may need a few appliances that can help you perform the above mentioned things. I strongly recommend that you get at least a high speed blender, a juicer and a dehydrator, but there are raw foodists who manage to do without dehydrators. You can also find tons of recipes online, that can help you prepare your favorite raw foods.

l like to keep raw food as simple and plain as possible like how animals eat food. l like to eat as few foods as possible togeather, often l eat one food. Sometimes i'll blend or juice sunflower greens and drink it with algae and that's my dinner. Other times l will juice alfalfa and follow it with sprouted sesame seeds and that's my dinner. Other times l will drink weed juice and follow it with kelp juice and that's my snack. Other times l will blend buckwheat greens and seaweeds and follow it with sprouted nuts and that's another major meal. Other times l have algae and green juices and follow it by blending lentil/or adzuki bean sprouts with birdseed sprouts and that's my lunch. Some weekends l just feed off weed, grass and flower juice and that's my fast. For breakfast l generally drink grass juice and blue-green algae powder and follow with some fruit 30 minutes later (always the same breakfast each day). l always do small meals these days of really high quality food that is harvested seconds before or 15 minutes at most, much of the food is still living as l eat it. The key is eating fresh food in small amounts, but when you first start out you'll probably need to eat large amounts until you adjust.

When you adjust to this you won't get hungry. Even drinking two small meals a day is enough much of the time, but you must understand yourself properly because old habits can dim our communication with our inner selves.

Keeping it simple in raw isn't that hard if you aspire to rise above addiction. Addiction keeps thinks Earthly and boring, but rising above addiction starts making life very very interesting and is ultimately fulfilling. l could say alot more about this addiction stuff, but l want to keep it simple for this forum because people will be blown out too much. Gotta keep it relatable.

Why? How is it you think cooking makes a difference? Same food, just raw. More fiber, more nutrients.... actually, more satisfying. It's not all mushy from being cooked.

Same food, just raw.

Basically true although I think the choice is wider in many ways. People tend to cook the same old same old but with raw food I think we tend to choose from much more things even if we only eat one type of them (like Mr Raw) per meal. My raw meals are much more varied than ever my cooked meals were.

Very very true. As an old cooked food lad l would eat perhaps 12 different foods. Now l choose from between 35 - 40 foods over the year...lots of different sea vegetables, lots of different sprouts, lots of different weeds, various algaes and lots of different fruits. That rotation doesn't even include vegies.

I'm finding the raw food diet hugely filling and satisfying, much prefer it to my old ways because of how it tastes and how it makes me look and feel!

I don't own a dehydrator yet, so my diet's pretty simple and lately my meals are mostly:

- green smoothies
- fruit and veggie juices
- gorgeous huge salads that are way more filling and delicious than I ever thought salad could be!
- marinated veggie dishes including kimchi
- nori wraps filled with veggies like cukes and avocado and sprouts
- romaine lettuce wraps filled with various nut pates and/or marinated veggies
- lots of fresh coconut, bananas, other fresh fruits
- lots of guacamole, avocados are a staple in my diet now
- "noodles" made of spiralized zuchinni tossed with olive oil, parsley, pepper and sundried tomatoes
- miso soup with veggies
- creamy chia seed pudding (like tapioca pudding, yum)
- cucumber/seaweed salad
- marinated brocolli/tomato/onion salad
- massaged kale salad
- homemade halvah (yum!)

And there are so many wonderful recipes to make once you have a dehydrator!

I honestly feel I was born to eat this way, because it makes me feel so happy and satisfied. What a gift! I highly recommend this lifestyle.
