I really am having a hard time making yummy raw food dishes for my family. I make things, and I am the only one that will eat it. Many of the breads I make in my dehydrator just doesn't taste all that great. I really want to take raw cooking classes, but I can't afford it. I was thinking about ordering the Living on Live Food book and DVD for $55. Does the DVD walk you through recipes? Also, can I buy it anywhere else for a cheaper rate? Maybe even a used one?
Thanks!

I understand trying to make yummy dishes for family only to find yourself the only one eating - frustrating I know. My kids are enjoying lots of the raw deserts however. I found the DVD extremely helpful because Allisa demonstrates many of the recipes. She makes raw cuisine look so simple. I'm convinced the more you prepare raw food, the easier it gets. You might find a used copy on Amazon for cheaper. I personally think the DVD is a must-have, especially if you're a visual person.

I have a suggestion....involve your kids in making the dishes! I find that when I involve my kids they eat whatever they help make....especially the Smoothies!
Try making Onion Bread....it's FABULOUS!!!
3 Yellow Onions
3/4 cup ground Flax Seeds
3/4 cup ground Sunflower Seeds
1/2 cup Nama Shoyu
1/3 Cup EVOO
Alissa's books and DVD is definitely worth the money! If you really do want to take a class, you should try saving up for it....you won't be disappointed! Alissa's level 1 class is $125.00 and there are many instructors throughout the country. If you can save $25.00 for 5 months you got it. :D

Renee,
Thanks! What is EVOO? Also, I didn't see any classes for $125, where can I find those classe? I saw one in the Sacramento area for $185.

Oh, that's classified...I'd tell you, but then I'd have to kill you!
Hehehehe....just kidding! :D It's Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Oh, I dehydrate this for 48-36 hours. I actually LOVE the way it smells when it's dehydrating!
Alissa's price for the Level 1 Class is $125.00. However, some teachers have a setup fee (I have one also--depending on how far I have to travel to teach the class....) in addition to the price for the Class. That's probably where the difference is from. If you are located near her, perhaps you could email her and see if she'll do it for the $125.00. Or, you could search nearby cities for other teachers and check out their prices. I'm sure you'll find one that will do it for the standard amount...just gotta do some footwork.

LOL! Ok, I thought that was one more Raw ingredient that I needed to search high and low for!! Ahh, thank God it's right there in my kitchen. :) Thanks for the additional instructions, I will give it a try!
I didn't even know Alissa teaches classes. Maybe she will do it long distance....hmmm. I mean, I live in California.

These are certified Alissa Cohen teachers that are teaching the classes. We went to Maine to get certified by Alissa, then we teach others where we live.
