Ionizer for alkaline water?

We have been talking to some people who have been buying these ionizers for alkaline water, they are paying about $2000 for an ionizer. They can only buy them from one person, like they can't buy them through a store. Is this real or a scam? Is this a good investment?

sounds dreadfully expensive.

over here you can get an ionising system - to plumb into your water supply - for just under £300 plus £68.00 per replacement cartridge. I'm sure we can get ultra expensive ones too but I haven't looked into it except in so far as this thread goes.

I just bought a zen h20 filter only $59 from amazon.com. It slightly alkalizes the water but it tastes great. My daughter and I did a taste test with the smart water and it is very close.

I havent heard of this guy...but I have seen a how-to vid on building a machine like the one he is selling. A friend of mine told me about it and i trust his advice.
