I was over checking out the before and after's - how inspiring! I read that some of you (thinking of Allesha particularly) lost weight by "following Allisa's Plan". Can you clarify that for me? I have her first book and video, which has a 4 week meal plan. Is this what you are referring to? Thanks so much!

Alissa's plan for health has always been "Eat whatever you want as long as it's raw." Eating for health ~ excess weight elimination is pretty much one of the side benefits. If you really read her first book, she tells how she made food for a friend ~ more than she could ever eat ~ and she eliminated excess weight. It's all about keeping it simple.

If you listen to our shows on Rawkin' Radio we've talked about weight elimination.

Thanks. After reading Living on Live Food, thats pretty much what I figured. However, after reading some of the weight loss testimonies, I wasn't sure if I was missing anything else - seems so simple. Thanks & May you have a blessed holiday season. ~ Heather

what is her first book you are referring to? im a bit new to alissa's version of raw and would like to know more. because i am not from the states though i find we have NO raw restaurants, very few places you can buy an extremely limited range of raw products and most the books i come across talk about making recipes and smoothies we just dont have but the book sounds really good. even 100% raw i put on weight so i need to figure out what classifies as 'raw' by her standards in case it helps clarify some things for me. any info about weight melting off would be brilliant!

Hi M3F, The book I'm referring to is Living on Live Food, which can be purchased here on her site. I highly recommend the accompanying DVD so you can actually SEE her make many of the recipes. She has a months worth of meal plans all laid out for you, including grocery lists (I've never seen this in any other raw books). Most of her ingredients are very easy to find at any local grocery store. Some, such as young coconuts and durian can be found at local asian markets. I know it is possible to melt off weight with a raw food diet - I lost 40 in 8 weeks. However, in all honesty, I have a hard time staying away from my on-again, off-again love affair with Mr. SAD.

Look to upper left on this page where it says "The Ultimate Raw Food Guide".... this is Alissa's site. Raw is anything uncooked, not processed, packaged, bottled, etc.

What was your average meals eating raw daily in order to lose about 20lbs a month?

Lots of green smoothies (inspired by Valeria Botenko), juices, and huge salads. I was also getting professional colonics weekly during that time. My problem is reverting back to old unhealthy eating patterns when life gets chaotic. I still like to hear how others lose weight on the raw food diet (secretly wishing there's a magic pill or something that will cause me to STICK to it). I know raw is the best way for my body to function optimally and reach good healthy weight. However, I'm also beginning to understand its a life-long journey and one that is far bigger than raw verses sad. Best Wishes to you!

There is no magic pill. Just keep eating raw. What will cause you to stick to it is staying prepared; never letting yourself become too hungry; drink plenty of water and just ~ playing with your food! EFT is a really big help if you use it BEFORE and during chaotic times. It sets you up for winning.

Would you say that some of the weight lost is waste from the colonics? (like you expelled 5 to 10 lbs of poo weekly) Or mostly from the raw food diet?

oh i see. we dont have asian markets here. i might give the book a miss and keep doing what im doing. i dont really like doing meals and stuff and much prefer to pick at stuff in its whole state. the shipping would take so long to get to the other side of the world so i might see if its available on kindle and check out an excerpt.

Good question. I think maybe that's why those of use who are not doing colonics/enemas lose slower. Hmmm.

I do believe the colonics helped me to stay on track, and assisted in the weight loss. However, the third month on the diet without colonics, I was still averaging about 3-4 pounds a week of weight loss. Sadly, as soon as I started dabbling in the cooked food I was preparing for my family, the weight started to creep back on. Thanks for the encouragment Revvell. I'll remember to stay prepared. Forgive my ignorance but can I ask you what EFT is? Thanks & Blessings!

Heatheranne, did you feel the colonics were beneficial?

I am trying to figure out will you poop everything out by the 7th day on a 100% raw diet, or is there still stuff backed up "in there" where you actually need a colonic?

Heatheranne, did you feel the colonics were beneficial?

For a 39 year old women who has had years of digestion issues/chronic constipation, who was on a sad diet most of her life, and who was very overweight.....YES I felt the colonics were extremely beneficial! Even after several colonics and eating 100% raw for 60 days, I was still releasing LOTS of junk. My digestion/tummy never felt better. Someone younger with no chronic constipation, who has eaten a primarily healthy vegetarian diet over the years, and who has a healthy BMI - may not have as much "back-up" as I did.

I released heaps of weight and have never had a colonic, enema etc. I simply ate raw live food. As much as I wanted whenever I wanted. I ate desserts daily.

I also moved my body. Yoga, Nia, walking, rebounding... stagnation doesn't assist weight to release that's for sure!

Hey HeatherAnne

Just thought Id interject that it's very possible to use Alissa's method of eating whatever you want as long as it's raw and actually gain weight.

Hi Allesha, When you lost heaps of weight, you mentioned you did not do colonics or enemas, but simply ate raw food and moved alot. This sounds great. Also, did you happen to go in your infrared sauna during that time..to assist you? I'm considering purchasing one & in another post you mentioned having one. Thanks!
