So here's the thing. I am not a big fan of cabbage. Yet somehow there is one - a big, light green cabbage - sitting in my fridge. It is waiting for me to do something with it. But what?
Even as a SAD food cook, I would not be entirely comfortable just whipping out some random recipe.
But the thing needs to be eaten. It is too pretty to go to waste.
Suggestions? Ideas? and, dare I ask, RECIPE???
Thank you.

Well if you don't really like cabbage I'm not sure if you'll like this but I mix cabbage & brocolli & carrots and raisins and sunflowers seeds for a little salad. For dressing I might do olive oil, oj & sweetner of choice.
I also like cabbage with mexican; you could make tacos add guacamole, cabbage & fresh salsa.

Shred your cabbage up finely
Add shredded beet
shredded apple
shredded carrot
marinate in a mixture of ACV, Honey & Olive Oil. Beautiful, autumn salad! :eat
I think raisins would be yummy as a garnish (like in pp rec)

Well, cabbage does to have a distinct...cabbagey taste to it, doesn't it? :) I reckon it's pretty hard to prepare a dish using a whole cabbage and not have it taste like cabbage in the end. I would say that a dish which requires marinating the cabbage overnight might alter its taste a bit, although there is no guarantee you will like the outcome. You could also try dehydrating some cabbage leaves and using them for a sandwich base, or you could tenderize the leaves in warm water and then make cabbage rollups with avocado, sprouted lentils, lemon juice, dulse, red peppers and any other veggies you enjoy. Another idea is to try making cabbage lasagna, where you use cabbage ;eaves instead of noodles. The advantage is that cabbage is really low in carbs, so it goes well with fatter foods.

Not sure am afraid of the cabbage taste, just never cooked with it much, now that I'm working towards 100% raw even less sure what to do with it! Great ideas, ladies, thank you!!!

You could lose a little at a time in juice or smoothies.

Definitely going to try some of the suggestions listed here!!
Anyhow, I adore cabbage, so this might not work for you....
.... but what I do is shred up a half head at a time and mix it with lots of EVOO, garlic powder and sea salt....... YUM! Garlicky, salty and delicious -- one of my favorite comfort food salads.
My favorite thing to do with it though is make kimchi!
I also chop green cabbage and use it in my regular salads along with lettuce and any other greens I'm using. It's so inexpensive and good for you that I use it all the time.

Alissa's got some great cole slaw recipes in her books... let them "marinate" for a bit so it doesn't taste so cabbage-y. If you make a bunch, share some with friends so you don't feel you have to eat it all and then get sick of it! hmmm... i think cole slaw is on the menu for dinner tonight! let us know what you try! (Kimchi and Sauerkraut are fabulous suggestions too, yum!!)

There is one simple recipe I've used which is shred the cabbage finely (I just pop it into the food processer) then toss with oil and something salty like soy sauce. The oil cuts the cabbage flavor so all you taste is the soy sauce.
