I am obese. I think 240 pounds. I have really bad knees due to me being overweight, plus I have a job where I stand on my feet and walk around on my job 6 to 8 hours straight a day with only a 30 minute break for lunch where I can sit. My knees hurt so bad that I feel like crying. The pain in the back of my knees. If I sleep or sit for long period of time and decide to get up, my knees makes this cracking noise and I limp when I walk. It takes about 5 minutes for the limp to go away.

I am feeling really desperate here. I need to shed this weight really fast so I can feel better. I take an extra strength aspirin once or twice a day before I go to work, or during work in order to keep the discomfort away. But I know this is not good for my stomach.

I don't have a juicer and can't afford to buy one. I only have a Vitamix blender that I bought from this site not too long ago. I want to make simple juices to give me nutrients so I can function when I am at work. I want to fast for a month. I don't want to do green smoothies at the moment. Just keep it all fruit for the first month. And I would like to keep on drinking the same thing daily for at least a week, or be bold enough to drink for the whole month, because the mono-eating thing intrigues me and it helps me take the guess work of what kind of juice I would like to do daily or weekly.

What juice to you suggest for me to drink for a month for a fast? Please suggest a juice that needs no more than 2 ingredients because I would really like to keep it really simple.

You need not juice fast for a month to lose weight.
You could just eat a 100% raw diet and you'd lose weight.
I'm not an expert when it comes to fasting but your body might find it better if you prepare it a little before you juice fast. Ask Aleesha

Just remember that the key to successful weight loss is keeping the weight off and that means finding a sustainable way of eating. You can't reasonably expect to fast for the rest of your life and coming off a fast needs to be done with much care and attention to how your body will react to food again.

If you use the vita-mix you will have to strain your juices or else what you will have will be smoothies. Whilst maintaining my status as a non expert when it comes to fasting I would suggest that you first go 100% raw and then experiment with juice fasting within the cushion of raw.

One day a week juice fast then two then three and then maybe a whole week. It will give you an idea of what to expect. To go for a month right away will not be an easy thing so why not try raw eating first. At least you'll be losing weight while you prepare for juice fasting.

Well, I wanted to choose fasting, because after reading the board there was a guy in the fasting section that said he was lost 27 lbs while juice fasting for a month and he was obese and he never felt better.

Ah, straining seems like too much work. I guess I would be drinking smoothies then. Plus, I realized that I have way too much frozen fruit in my freezer such as bananas, figs, cherries, strawberries, mangos, blueberries and 2 or 3 bags of frozen spinach. Then ice box? Apples, dates. I do have one avocado left and 3 plum tomatos. I have a jar of raw coconut butter. I guess I don't need to grocery shop for one week.

I wonder if I should do a few days of fasting with something lighter like lemon water/lemonade, before I go into smoothie mode?

I was having in mind to drink one big Vitamix vat of smoothie for a meal and drink nothing but water or sugarless tea for the rest of the day after doing a lemon water/lemonade fast?

On my show, Rawkin' Radio, I interviewed two men who began at 400 pounds. One ate everything he could as long as it was raw and eliminated 200 pounds in 2 years. The second drank smoozies (green smoothies) only and eliminated 200 pounds in one year.

Do you have a link to your radio show so I could listen? And what is the difference between a smoothie and a smoozie?

Today I ate the last of my "chewable" foods, except I have 2 plum tomatoes left that I will try to eat for dinner. Then I will start doing a smoothie, maybe Green Smoothie feast tomorrow.

Bihaku - When I first went raw I lost 38 pounds in the first month and a half. I had a green smoothie for breakfast and lunch and the rest of the day ate whatever fruits and veggies I wanted. During this time though I also went to the gym and burned about 800 calories on the eclipse and the AMT machine. Everyone makes smoothies different but the best one for me is about 3 big handfuls of the green lettuce, shot of cinnamon, (a bit of water for the greens), one or two bananas (depending on how hungry I am), and an apple or a handful or two of frozen mixed fruit. I love love love this one. It's easy and cheap to fix. I have a magic bullet and it comes out perfect. Best of luck to you.

Hey Bihaku I think if you had a single type of juice every day you will get tired of it and may want to quit. Maybe you should start a juice fast when you can buy a juicer or strainer for your blender. From my understanding, im not an expert, is that all different fruits and veggies have different properties which improve different aspects of your health. So I think you should have a real variety going on to really improve your health.

As for fruit for one month, Ive heard of some people doing that but I think you should have lots of veggies instead of fruits because the sugars can fatten you up, but dont quote me on that. Maybe someone will correct any mistakes ive made..

Ive never done a long fast most ive done is 3 days and it was okay i felt a little better it was just the hunger was bothering me bad, but a few days ago I read some basics that Aleesha posted up on here and she said after the first 3-4 days you will stop getting the hungry feeling. So that being said when you hit the 30 day mark you may want to try and do the 100 day mark to get a real deep cleanse from being obese.

So to conclude maybe you should try a one week fast and if you feel okay then go for the 30 if you're still lovin it go for the 100 days. Now Ive heard the hardest part is to break the fast which is gradually implementing meals into your life again.

I agree with the post above.. a month a fruit fasting may not give you the drastic change that your looking for.. fasting definitely takes work and preparation but once you get started and see the benefits it becomes a part of life.. but the leafy greens are what really pack the punch... you discover things in the produce section that you may have never spared a second glance at... BEETs.. love beets.. kale, spinach, just found out about parsnips...all types of lettuces and some fruit thrown in there for a sweeter kick...

Im currently on day 11 of a juice fast... there IS light at the end of the tunnel, and im down 20 lbs<3
