I use both. But if I had to vote....which I just did.....it would be chia.

I use chia. But because gabriel cousens is such a believer in flax I wonder if it's better than chia?

Flax has a lot of goitrogenic compounds which I myself have felt the effects of. Only if sprouted does it go away I guess but I haven't tried it yet.

Flax though is super cheap compared to chia seeds, so if you don't eat too much of it, and best sprouted than it's ok. It also has more protein than chia seeds.

Tho I of course use both flax and chia. I use chia only when I dont have flax crackers available.

l read that Flax is one of the only original unaltered seeds on Earth that is easily available to almost everyone living today. lt is the king of all foods apparently.

Flax is great as greens but it is very detoxing. Flax sprouts are also good for some filling bulk in the diet and for another seed to add instead of the usual sesame and sunflower meals (adds variety).

But l think sprouted chia is a much much better food because of one factor, the abundance of calcium! The vegan diets are usally massively deficient in calcium for how people live and structure their diets, but this solves the problem. No associated toxins (no tannins and oxalic acid when sprouted) either like with various high calcium weeds and vegie greens. lt's perfect and needs to be in everyones diet, but it should be sprouted.

I have creamy delish chia pudding almost every morning.... YUM! It became an instant staple and I couldn't do without it now.

How do you get a nice highly absorbable source of calcium? And what do you do to keep the omega 3's in adequate proportion to the omega 6 so us vegans can produce EPA? Do you eat nuts and seeds regularly or just mainly focus on fruit and vegies? Just curious.

nuts and seeds do form part of my diet and a wide variety of sprouted seeds. I've yet to try sprouting chia - it's on my to-do list!

I don't follow a mainly fruit or mainly greens or mainly nuts or mainly anything diet. I go for variety.

How do you make it?

I just blend 3 cups water with 1 cup soaked almonds, then add 1/2 cup chia seeds and a little cinammon and agave, then let it set overnight. YUM! It lasts for days and is perfect for breakfast or a snack.

That sounds really good. I've made chia pudding once with just a little sweetener and chia. I think I will try it with the almonds!
