Hello everyone, I'm a long time lurker, and this is my first post! I'm a twenty one year old male who's been raw for about five months. I switched overnight, hoping to cure an unknown ailment. Results have been... inconclusive, as far as the ailment is concerned, everything else has improved quite a bit (in other words, it's a decision I'm still very happy that I made). Now I'm wondering what you all think of something, It's about nutrients. Just how necessary do you think they are? Now the reason I ask is this story I found. I read it in a book originally, but for your convenience, I'll link to the excerpt:

So what do you think? Now, if this story is true, I think it could show us something that a lot of people could be missing. If a man can eat a diet of nearly nothing (probably cooked nothing) and still maintain a vigor that no other man in his position came even close to having, well, couldn't that say something about the necessity of nutrients? What if love is more important than anything we could ever write down about, "health?" You know I see so many people fighting about what's healthy, and I ask myself, "just how much does it really matter?" What went into Wild Bill's mouth didn't seem to matter so much as what came out of his heart. That love seemed to create a health that no food can recreate.
