and I started grabbing a bunch of things I thought would be good for my first morning family smoothie (just got my Vitamix today):

Kale
Spinach
Bananas
Apples
Frozen strawberries
Frozen blueberries
Frozen blackberries
Celery
Kiwi
Carrots
Cucumbers

but now I'm totally lost. I have no idea which of these would work well together in a morning smoothie. I want something green but also something that will satisfy a 10 year old and my wife............HELP PLEASE!!!!!

My morning green smoothie every day is a green leafy (kale or spinach are both great) and frozen banana. I throw in a bit of coconut oi (for better absorption of the fat soluble vitamins in the greens) and a date or two for sweetness but they're not necessary. You can add frozen strawberries or blackberries too. I also use water and ice and blend it all up. My bf's 10 year old asks for them.

You've got all the right stuff! Choose a green, a frozen berry, banana and coconut oil if you've got it! Yum!

Thanks for the tip of coconut oil; I'm heading to the heath food store today to pick some up.

Just a note, if you are trying to interest another - avoid red fruits like strawberry with the greens. I turns the smoothie anywhere from green/gray to noxous brown. If I'm making for newbies, I do the kale and ganana and then add pineapple or mango and it stays pretty. Appearance is everything, sometimes. I like the frozen mixed fruit from Sam's and WalMart: manago, pineapple and strawberries. Just pick what I want that day. Makes the smoothie nice and cold too. I also freeze bananas when I have extra and it works well. Coconut water in them is alos nice.

This is a raw vegan board so we don't add things like dairy to our smoothies. Please read the posting guidelines. (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?18-Mission-Statement-and-Rules-for-Posting)

And... welcome!!!
