Hi at all!
I'm new here and i'm 100% raw vegan since 2 years.
Since 1 month, when i eat seeds like sunflower or others,my body rebel against them with colitis.
This happens also if eaten in small quantities and with green leafed vegetables.
I feel good only when nuts and seeds are removed from the diet.
Now i think that this is a sign of detoxification.
Nobody has experienced all this?

were they sprouted ie soaked?

also depending on your consitution a lot of people seem to react to the most common seeds like sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Unfortunately other good seeds like raw almonds, jungle peanuts, sacha inca, etc are not available. Those seem easier to digest. Sesame seeds are also pretty good, soaked/sprouted of course. I myself can't have too much sunflower seeds even if sprouted. It's just my constitution, I seem to be sensitive to them. I might be the same with pumpkin seeds also.

I have always eat sunflower seeds without soaking for 2 years,i simply put them in the blender.
Only since 1 month my body rebel against them.
I feel good on a fruitarian diet, fruits and green leafs, but is hard for me to live in the winter without seeds, because i live in Italy, the cold season is coming soon.
But i cant live with a chronic colitis and i must find a solution.

I cannot tolerate them either. In cheese form or fermentation, i seem ok

Do plenty of fruits and leafy greens and you will be fine.

If you want to do recipe, there is way to make them by substituting the nut for something else. For crust, you can use coconut shred. For meal, you can use coconut meat or whatever comes to you.

But why i have eaten seeds for 2 years with no problems, and now i cannot tolerate them?
This is because seeds are toxic or because i'm more detoxified now?

I have removed seeds from the diet now and i'm quickly escaped from colitis.
The only thing is that seeds help living in the winter,do you know any recipe that stimulate the blood circulation to live in the winter with no seeds?

You can up your intake of avocados. Also, cayenne pepper helps with blood circulation and could be good for you.

Soak your seeds AND nuts. There is an enzyme inhibitor that need to be release and it makes it very hard to digest if the nut and seed aren't soak.

Our body try to protect us as much as it cans but now that you are doing raw food and detoxing, it is telling you to help him/her to do the job. I would stay away from nuts and seeds for a while and when you will introduce them again to your body, make sure that they are truly RAW and SOAKED. Many nuts that aren't truly raw such almond, there is a law that have been passed in the fall of 2010. They are treated with high eat and they are allow to write RAW even it isn't. If you buy them directly from the farmer, you can have them raw.

I used to be able to eat anything, now my body tells me when the food is armful to me.

Thank you for this chart,Raw Angel Mom!
Sunflowers need only 2 houres.
I hope that eventually my body dont rebel when seeds are soaked.
Usually i blend sunflower seeds and i eat them with lettuce.
Do you know any other good seeds to blend for eating with green leaves?
I have tried sesame, but taste is not good.
I think that we need to blend seeds to better assimilate them, otherwise, chewing dont pulverize them.

Yep I don't do well with nuts and seeds either. In nature we would have only come across them about a month out of the year I believe. I rather get my calories from fruit than fat. :)

I think that my body eventually rebel aganist seeds also if soaked.
I also want to be fruitarian, plant hundreds of fruit trees, and self produce fruits like apples all over the year.

freelee, if in nature nuts come aruond only once a year, then how much are fruits available? Are they all year round then? In the tropics maybe?

Certain nuts grow in certain months, so it depends on which nut/seed you're talking about.

Also, you would harvest the nuts. not eat them all at once, of course you'd be eating other things.. you would save them so there would be available for a while.

Flaxseeds, sesame, pumpkin, and sunflower are different from the nuts also.

Besides, we are an evolved species we dont have to wait until a fruit is in season or not, we've got agriculture. Even if we still have to wait until a food is in season we can still plant more, and make more available when it does come around, and include more variety. In fact I think sprouting technology is kind of nature's signal to live in self sustainable communities.

I also doubt that there are any apes or monkeys that are truly 100% fruit eaters. They generally eat what they can even if fruit may be dominant in their diets.

I think I read somewhere that even Gabriel Cousens might have a diet that is high in fruit, but that might be considered moderate for him because it's not 100% of his diet, as he includes a lot of the other food and eats mostly low-moderate glycemic fruits.

I really want to became fruitarian, but the only thing that i have noted is that including seeds in the diet is less expensive instead of buying only fruits.
So i want to plant hundreds of fruit trees,to self produce all fruits, and then became a fruitarian living in a natural massive abundance of fruits obtained without spending money.

quinoa is great with salad. Hemp seeds (no need to soak and rich in essential amino acid).

All the best!

Yesterday i have eaten seeds again, soaked and blended, with lettuce.
After few houres my digestive system started feel bad,an today i'm suffering again of colitis and my stomach also feel really bad.
I think this is a warning message of my body, that dont want seeds.
It seems incredible that my body react to a small quantity of soaked seeds.
I think that i must forgotten seeds from my life and i must became fruitarian,i have no choice,i can eat only fruits and green leaf vegetables.
Anyone who have any suggestion?

Perhaps you've developed an allergy to some nut.

if you feel bad, there must be some reason.
It may not be good to force yourself to eat nuts.

I fully agree that cooked food is poison, but "how much" raw soaked nuts and seeds are healthy when some persons are forced to remove them from the diet?

this will be a different answer depending on who you are and how your body gets on with nuts. There is no definitive answer.

I'm sure that the rebellion of nuts and seeds is not depending on personal constitution.
Is depending only on personal thoughts.
Thoughts of natural living and natural feeding, away from civilization.
Mind and body are interconnnected.
Then the body start rebel against nuts and seeds.

Hey there!

It really is possible that you developed a sensitivity over time, but it may just be that you can't eat certain nuts and seeds and only in specific combinations. You can try to single out the cause of your colitis by just eating one type of nuts and one type of seeds at a time. It is also a good idea to do your blood work regularly since your colitis may be a symptom of something else. Maybe you are reacting to a specific substance in the nuts or seeds that you consume. Nevertheless, if something ii weakening or harming your intestines, it is crucial that you find out just what it is, either to learn how to avoid it or to potentially remedy the problem. Our digestive systems are very important for our overall health and we should always strive to protect them.
Hope you feel better soon!

Don't eat nuts (insoluble fiber) on an empty stomach. Don't eat them alone or in large quantities at one sitting or without soluble fiber. Always eat plenty soluble fiber first. Eat a small portion of nuts/seeds compared to soluble fiber....seeds and nuts are insoluble fiber--yams, quinoa, beets, mushrooms, avacodos, bananas, applesauce, mangoes, and papayas are some examples of soluble fiber.

It might help to read up on IBS diets and merge what they say with your raw diet, (eliminating any of the processed or non raw foods from the ibs dietary guides of course) and see how that works for you. There is a website I've found with a quick guide for the ibs diet....Heather's IBS diet cheat sheet.

Is there a need to understand? Just avoid the foods that your body doesn't like and embrace the ones it favours. Concentrate on the positive and ignore the negative

eating enough omega 3s? Maybe you can try soaking your seeds for a change? even if you did not feel any problem with unsoaked seeds, it still can have an effect, which can be cumulative even. Probiotics, or fermented foods can also be of help.

Also try food combinations, and also those IBS rules may help.
